Interessting concept!

At the current I´m working on a new card for the bothan-spies. This is the actual state of that pic, but I´m not very happy with it. What do you think? They still look too much like apes don´t they.

In former they were some kind of humanlike species, but now they rather look like werewolves. Though I haven´t found some good pics neither of bothans nor of werewolfs, I´ve tried it with these two hairy guys.

I believe the design of the Bothans is something which constantly put into question.

It´s said that their look changed with every new story-writer. There was no continuity so far. When I´ve heard about them in ROTJ for the first time, I thought about a humanlike race. Who else could infiltrate the Empire succesfully. Some bunch of doglike creatures? No way!

Oh, man. I feel terrible saying this, but when I saw that picture, the first thing to run through my mind was "Woah, did somebody put Planet of the Apes in this thread?" Sorry, but it is what I thought. It's good photoshoppery (Really, I'm not making fun of you!), they just still look, as you said, like apes.

 

I might suggest altering the background from the original rebellion background since you're working with real images; the two have a rather stark contrast, and that effects the quality of your shopping negatively.

And the man wins the prize! I ran out of time and brain function to make him look too different, so in the end it still looks exactly like him, which is annoying but meh. Appologise for the water mark, but it's for a uni subject and all. For the faces it's a pretty simple technique of sampling the colours of a given face and drawing with them ... and in my case using the face as a template.

I'm working on the Rebel ones but that's going to take longer because of the Uglies.

Well, the Rebels didn't really use Uglies. Those were mostly pirates, smuggling gangs, and other petty miscreants. The Rebels would be pretty well set witih Z-95s, Y-Wings, X-Wings, A-Wings, B-Wings, and I don't think too many others.

The Rebels, at the begining, would have perhaps used Uglies but I guess they would have pretty quickly abandonned them for fighters which required less maintenance and who were more efficient.
