Guys this isn't MSN...

I think i average something like 14 posts a day on my other forum.

Anyway, Endor... why did the Alliance bother sending capital ships?

Just seems a waste when they've got hyperdrive equipped starfighters.

Well perhaps they thought there'd be a few Imperial capitol ships that could have distracted the fighters..

Guys. Try to avoid spamming next time :? This site is really not about gathering ranks...

I think, there was need for the capital ships. Even if the alliance did'nt count with imperial fleets, the starfighters had to have some support out there. Like if one of the x-wings was damaged or out of torpedos, it still could return to the hangar of the MC. The other bigger ships without hangars, well they possibly were sent to distract as many Tie fighters as possible.

And it would be far too risky to send all the fighters and leave the fleet without any.

And if the leaders of the wings were destroyed the fighters could then rely on the capitol ships for directions

Congrats on your 100th post! As for the fleets...might have to look that one up

Hard question, they had at least 25000 thousand ISDs, possibly a few hundred thousand of otehr crafts. At it maximum height the Empire controlled over a thousand sectors, so you'd have at least 1000 sector fleets, but you would need extra protection for places like Kuat, Corellia, Coruscant, Yaga Minor, plus all the fleets with other duties...

I doubt important sectors had extra fleets, just bigge fleets. Important planets might have their own fleets though.

Raises the question how the Rebellion won in the end. With 25,000 ISDs there had to be plenty left in loyal Imperial hands to crush the Rebellion....
