I think i realy need to get rebellion beta because most of what you said went straight over my head. So soge supercaps are different from titans? sins titans do build from a seperate shipyard but to circumvent the one titan limit you need to build titans via an ability on the capital shipyard? doesn't that make the titans "free" or does using the ability cost a lot of credits? Do titans just re-spawn upon death or do you have te re-buy them? The Mon Cal yard is hollow with a hole nearly as big as the "scaffolding". The dauntles placeholder is a mon cal. Is that because lack of time or don't you have a model? quick mockup fo a shipyard reconfig. this way it can fit both normal capital ships and titans at full scale. the titans would probaly have to spawn from a different point (farther from the yard) http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h160/Darth_Thistle/shipyardmockup.jpg

I wouldn't use Sluis Van as a frigate shipyard. It is a huge station and you cant see anything being build. I think it would be more suited as a new republic trade station. If the frigate yard is to be replaced i was thinking about the bilbringi dock. http://www.xwaupgrade.com/phpBB3008/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10655 (i can't find a better pic online) Glad to hear the shipyard will be reduced in scale in rebellion. The Titans will get their own shipyard in rebellion right. I think i'll reconfigure the telgorn to better fit the titan. Thanks for the update Lavo. Thought i'd mention i got a minidump on startup. Only after i disabled the vong did it work like it should. I know you said the vong aren't updated yet but i didn't expect them not to work or cause a crash. I love the new shipyard but isn't it way too big? it completely dwarfs the ships it builds.

I didn't know that was possible. sounds perfect. I tried my best to keep the polycount as low as possible (264 tri's) and the texture as small as possible (256x256) and the result look pretty good IMHO The Vong planetary shield generator is also finished. It's been a while but finally something new. I made a vong gravity well generator. http://speedy.sh/KEwDw/Vong-GWG.rar i hope you like it. for a planetary shield generator i was thinking of a asteroid covered with loads of dovin basal and for homing mine i think gruthin will do nicely. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Grutchin I know they're supposed to eat ships rather the explode but it's the closest thing to a vong mine i can think of.

I always asumed it wasn't that big until i looked it up just now. 3km would be a tad big LOL Pardon my ignorence, i don't have Rebellion beta yet, but from the desciption i got the feeling corvettes are over-glorified fighters hence the gunship sugestion. I like seeing lots of different ships but reusing existing models will work too. But don't let the lack of a model affect your decision, models can allways be made

I was thinking of using gunships for corvettes. Like the escort shuttle and the nu class shuttle etc. And diplomatic shuttles like the lambda and sheathepide for the diplomatic ships.

I think ion cannons on the bigger ships is a good idea but i'm not so sure about point defence and missiles. If most ships get point defence lasers, why would i want to build lancers for example. Same for the missiles and broadside cruisers. It would make most ship the same except for cost and render the few specialized ships pointless. So for gameplay reasons i would keep a bit of weapon specialization.

Wow, this is nice. I think the shadowing is one of the nicest new features in rebellion. Makes things look even better. So, no trouble converting the ships to rebellion ? that's a relief

I'm also working on a Vong shipyard. Burntstrobe came up with the concept and he'll be skinning it too. Edit : Added the wrong mesh file. fixed now

Here is the other GWG, and guess what, this one got flipped too. No idea why but this one is vertical. Did the Vong research stations, the Yammosk, too. I tried to convert them in XSI myself but failed with the tangents. finaly i got it right.... almost. I now have one corectly skinned, correctly smoothed, in-game working GWG. but i accidently flipped it on it's side http://speedy.sh/2G6ET/GWG.rar exported from XSI after applying a load of hard edges where i don't want smoothing.

It seems the V2.0a of the maxtool causes the mesh to minidump. V1.1 does work but doesn't export smoothing groups. Or rather, is doesn't if they're not allready there. So i imported the V2.0 mesh in max (with smoothing) and exported with V1.1. Succes !! One mesh with smoothing and not-messed-up texture http://speedy.sh/GVcug/FRIGATE-VNGTRADESHIP.mesh It's a bit of a work-around but whatever works, right. I took the rigging from another tradeship, it should be good to go. Edit : scratch that. It only seemed to work because the vong ship is supposed to be smoothed all over. The GWG is supposed to have sharp edges but it too is smoothed all over and looks crap ingame. at least it doesn't minidump

Argg still more holes I didn't intend for the GWG to be flipped but why not. I have an idea for a vong trade station too, something looking like a alien-egg. and for research stations i was thinking Yammosk like structures, a floating brain with tentacles. edit : the GWG's http://speedy.sh/cSau2/GWG.rar another question, is a _DA texture necessery ? the GWG have no lights and i don't like glossy ships so i didn't make a DA texture. should one be included even if it's all black?

Sorry for the late reply, Yes, i checked for 5 sided polygons. The one i exported directly from MAX didn't have that problem ingame. it looked as it should. I haven't looked into it yet, i've been a bit bussy. I did finish the Gravity Well Generator. I made two versions ; one with the dishes (canon) and one with interdictor-like spheres (non-canon) I like the spheres better but i'll leave it up to you. Also finished the starbase construction ship (Cargo Ferry) I don't know if you wanted teamcolor stripes so i made one with and one without teamcolor. http://speedy.sh/K6dt4/Models.rar

You're a little too late LordWarspite, I just finished my turrets The Turbolaser and Missile turret are based on those from EaW but I beefed them up a bit. http://speedy.sh/3qwxy/Turrets.rar If you want, Lavo, I could do a couple more imperial looking based on the Turbolaser tower. I'll do some Vong turrets too.

I exported the meshes directly from MAX with the plugin. It seemed to work fine although the roik vahl took about half an hour to export. I didn't notice anything wrong ingame though i was mostly looking at the textures and the absence of holes Here are the max files http://speedy.sh/u2Db5/Vong-max.rar On the Sluis Van Yard ; I can cut out the front but there isn't a whole lot of room inside. it's very narrow in the center. and you'd have to look directly in the end to see anything. I agree you should be able to see the ship being build. Why not use the shipyard from XWA instead? it's big and open. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Telgorn_shipyard I don't think the TEC shipyards look terrible out of place either

I made the Sluis Van Yard a while back for RaW so that's allready done. http://speedy.sh/8G2be/Sluis-Van.rar There are Turbolaser and missile defense platforms in EaW. I'll use those designs. They look nice. For a construction ship i think the cargo ferry from XWA will do nicely.

I found that 3dmax tutorial a few days ago thanks to Sinperiums bump. It makes thing a lot easier. Send over the pics and i'll get on it asap.

I hope to fix the vong in the next few days. XSI is not an easy program to work with. it's fighting me every step of the way. Maybe it's because i'm used to MAX but i find it very user unfriendly. oh well.. I don't mind making structures at all. I hope you have pictures of what you want though, i'm not terrible creative when it comes to making new stuff up but i'll do my best if you don't Please post the list.
