  1. Just checked my EB Games order and it seems to show that my copy is expected to ship on the 14th... I should get mine either the 15th or 16th. I would think it would be the 15th, due to shipping times, order processing and such.
  2. I think this was a joke... or at least I hope so.
  3. It is not cheating if it is done within the bounds of the game rules. That is the problem. This type of severe game design flaw should have been addressed, and maybe it has been, but we don't know right now.
  4. I don't think anyone here will disaggree with the fact that maintaining space control of your planets is critical. The problem is that a problem may exist where you are forced to quit the game (no surrender option) if your planets are all blockaded and the enemy is toying with you. This would have an impact on ladders, tournaments, etc.
  5. how do you go from posting this: to posting this?
  6. The hypervelocity gun can not target fighters from what I can understand. That is inconsequential if you can't initiate a space battle to begin with. If an enemy fleet is parked over your planet and you retain ground control and then build a Hypervelocity gun... or ion canon, how do you instigate space combat? is it possible to drag a ground unit to a space fleet spot? I haven't had the computer hold still long enough to test that theory. If someone knows or can find out, it would be appreciated. It would also help if Delphi could comment on this problem as they should have thought of this one for sure. How is the game design supposed to deal with this serious issue?
  7. :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o You don't say! Well, like I said in another post, the only time I have ever been attacked by the computer on purpose was recently with 6.0 and me playing as Rebels. When I play as Empire, the best I get is the raid attacks.
  8. The problem with any of these ideas is that the engine has to support the data transfer between all of these players and if that doesn't work, then no go. There have been discussions about how to deal with all of the issues more than 2 people on a side would cause in the galactic MP, but nothing can be known unless the devs tell us or we find out with the release version.
  9. That is very interesting. I was completely shocked the last time I played when the Empire attacked Tatooine and then assaulted the ground. Was the first non-accidental (during the initial planet rush) that the AI has attacked me. I always play on hard settings and as the Empire. This was my first attempt at Rebels (which seem more accurate on this side as well by the way).
  10. Lets say, by some horrible luck, you end up with all of your planets under blockade. Meaning the enemy has taken control of all of your space maps but not your ground maps. You can't build a space station while the enemy is there, and therefore you can't build ships, and if you don't have ships already that you can try to break the blockade with, are you just hosed? Why would anyone need to capture a planet if they can rush blockade their enemy first? Imagine a rush tactic that involved sending a bunch of the cheapest space unit (Z-95 for Rebel and Tie Scouts for Imp) to any enemy planet in hopes of getting there before they can build a space station. I currently have a demo game going with Cain's 6.0 mod playing the Rebels and the Empire has only 5 planets and I have all of them but one blockaded with a single Y-Wing. I have left the game going when I went to work and at lunch the Empire hadn't done anything. So what happens in a MP Galactic Mode game? Can someone just be an (censored) whole and leave you like that until you have to quit? Speaking of this, is there a surrender option for when the galaxy is for sure lost? What are your thoughts people?
  11. Since this issue has been resolve and we don't want to have a riot, I am locking this thread.
  12. Capital ship bombardment is not in EAW.
  13. Don't worry Stellar, he said already that he is busy with work. He doesn't seem to me the type that will just give your mod a lackadaisical passover, but rather one that will not post something until he is satisfied that it is thorough.
  14. Even in the full game, I suspect that the superlaser will be a special case script which attaches itself to the planet, much like the Ion Cannon or Hypervelocity Gun attaches its origin to the planet model. The Death Star's Superlaser will most likely not be an actual weapon file, thus we will have to improvise with something like Piett's beam. The level of control we will have via lua scripting remains to be seen. If we could have an infinite (or out of map size) beam sweep across an arc and calculate hits based on collision along its path, then we will have virtually unlimited potential as far as weaponry goes. The limiting factor is that the beam weapons (or beam like) in the game so far have an origin and target determined at activation so there is no collision detection going on. You could not have, a ship accidentally get in the way of Piett's beam or the tractor beams for that matter. Just some food for thought though.
  15. Very nice tool there, thank you. This would be a good idea for anyone, not just modders. If you mess with text files this is much more superior than notepad.
  16. This brings up an interesting question. Does anyone know about how the skirmish space defenses are built? Is it freeform or are their "space build pads" that you have to control?
  17. I also would like to see a multiplayer galactic game be able to be played 2v2 or 3v3 or 4v4.... I also would like to see a third faction be playable at the same time in a 1v1v1 game. This one would be the hardest to do though.
  18. Heh, ok thanks. I usually am looking at the hardpoint I am targetting not the holodisplay so I couldn't remember. Given this information, what limits exist for the names of ships? Characters? Length? Spaces? Is there any thought given to the possible issues with profanity?
  19. I concure with Fosh, but as for putting them back in... I think it will be possible.
  20. This is not a bug, this is by design.... although I disagree with it for obvious reasons.
  21. Anyone notice whether or not you can see the name on an enemy ship? I haven't paid attention but just wondered this at work.
  22. This I think is going to be the best part of clans in EAW. Instead of each working independantly but allied on maps, you have to work together to protect one base. This will make for some very interesting gameplay.
  23. The mechanics of the animation make more sense... it is a draining laser, rather than a projectile.
  24. That is questionable. If the AT-AT wasn't moving the cable would eventually fall down to the ground like a pair of pants that are way too big with no belt. It was a Tow Cable so it wouldn't have any connectors along its length to hold it in place.
  25. ANH RoTJ ESB ......Not even listing the prequel crap.
