  1. chances are if they do implement a limit like that each unit will have it own population cost(akin to AoE's system). A squad of stormies would be pop of 1, but an AT-AT 5, and Vader would be like...10
  2. That was a specific tactic designed for fighting against the Yuuzhan Vong warships, but wouldn't be practical anywhere else. A tactic commonly used along those lines(at least with X-Wing fighters) was the linked firing settings on their lasers. single fire was fastest, but did the least damage per hit, double fire was a mix of speed and damage while all four at once was an instant kill but not very accurate.
  3. VERY interesting. Thanks for the post. It appears that all buildings are placed automatically on planets when you build them, meaning there is not random terrain, but pregenerated maps with predesignated areas for the buildings. Once you learn the map and how to properly assault it there will be almost no challenge.
  4. Well, you've also got the problem of the fact that energy disperses, so by the time a laser blast hit ground it can be over 100m in diameter. The Deathstar was the "least" in the terror department. You have the world destroyers(or some such thing) which converted any element and spat out attack craft in a fully automated matter. Then there was the Suncrusher which had indestructible armor(Han Solo flew it THROUGH the bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer and out the back of the command tower without a scratch on the craft. Not to mention that it was armed with a torpedo that when fired into a star caused the star to go nova(Kyp Durron Destroyed the Carrida system, the main stormtrooper training ground, in this fashion)
  5. with great success, but it was being used as a defensive measure. The YV were assaulting a Galactic Alliance base with these HUGE mountain sized creatures. So the GA ships in orbit opened fire on the attackers.
  6. The targetting systems aren't all that sophisticated. Admiral Ackbar designed a capital ship charge directed between two enemy ships SPECIFICALLY so that they would hit each other with their missed shots. I believe it was called the Ackbar Slash or some such thing. Also, I believe in one of the NJO books(though it has been over a year since I read it) The New Republic forces had to place beacons for the Lusankya gunners to use as aiming points so they would avoid friendly fire.
  7. If being realistic, orbital bombardment should be VERY ricky if you have troops on the ground. for the gunners on the ships an aiming change of a 10th of a degree can equate to up to a half mile difference in where their shots strike. There shouldn't be an aiming thing, just a button that you push and pray to god that your gunners up there don't hit the wrong spot on the planet.
  8. no, he wants Mon Calamari(which...acording to the EU, should not award you with Ackbar. Ackbar was, basically, a slave to Tarkin. he was rescued when the rebels attempted to assassinate Tarkin) In addition I wish to destroy Dantooine. I wont give the rebels time to evacuate =P
  9. Corran Horn was in Jedi Academy. His name was mentioned as one of the masters that Luke assigned apprentices to...I believe.
  10. correct if I'm wrong, but i was under the impression that the starwars books and most comics(the old tales of the sith are now canon because of KotOR) are NOT canon, with a few exceptions(the aforementioned TotS and the Zahn books). I was under the impression that the only deal between LEC and the publishing companies was that they could use the Star Wars properties. None of it is canon except the VERY good stuff which George says, "ok...that rocks...make it true." The games are all cannon because they have to get LEC approval on anything that goes into them(SotE is canon because of the game, not the book) and the cartoons like Droids and Clone Wars are canon because Lucas himself proposed them.
