What program are you using? Im doing my crappy stuff on blender, the one thing i dont like about it is that if i dont click 1 button before i render the whole computer crashes. I gotta make by SD wider. Good luck man.

That was the example i was going to use, writing a school paper and thats a proven fact, my Social Studies teacher (who was also a Psyche Teacher) would give us little psyche tidbits left and right and that was one of them. Think about it these guys have been slaving away at this game day and night for a long time now. If there are any little things you need to do to make something go properly they know them outsiders dont. Its always better to check your work with someone else than go putting it out there unchecked. There are many many examples of people who dont do this and im going to go into that cause it'd be a long post.

Yeah, looks like it. Alright why dont we just put this in the next interview and put this thread to rest! Its tough to tell from those pictures though, but the on Darkmark just posted looks like it only a little jaggeder (if thats a word) but we'll never know until we ask or get some better screenshots. Okay one last question, what is this Liberator Cruiser armed with? And is it strong?
-
lol Darkmark! Yeah, when they polish a game they just make sure its how they wanted it to be or better, they fix things, make things better/more balanced make things look better or like DarkMark said just make sure each and every CD is clean. lol It like before you turn in a project or something important you made, you make sure it looks good, and works right and serves its purpose.

I know what you mean, the only exception i could see was if it was like one of the Imperial Hero SD's. But any hero ship should perform according to its weapons and size and health, etc. None of whcih should be too far from average. But i forget where i read it but i think one of the developers or someone said that taking down a hero like Darth Vader on the ground would be very diffucult. But i agree with you 100% Heros should be better than the average unit thats why their there but they shouldnt be godlike. I know what you mean with WCIII, some of the missions you do you only control a single unit, the hero and you rampage through everyone else. Darn, now i want to play WCIII just like earlier i had to play C&C Generals.

Ill look around for some good online ones, i started the basics with online stuff but really learned alot more by reading books (actually only 2) and i feel i am pretty well learned in the subject. I dont have Flash MX unfortunately and it seems like 5 is fading and mx is blooming, but ill search my hardest and evaluate them to find some good ones. A good way to start is just by messing around with the program and see what you can do. EDIT: I cant find the tutorial i started with but i remember it well enough to to make my own version of it. Ill start on it now and post up where to find it when its finished it wont take long. In the meantime goto Help>>Tutorials in Flash 5 and progress through the list.

And the nice thing about the rebels is that they have the x-wings that can jump into hyperspace so that they can hit and run with righters and not have to worry about putting their cap ships in danger. But you also have to remember that an SSD can carry alot of ties.

Here you go but like i said very basic, very low poly model. I still have to figure out how to add in some bigger details and then add in the rough kind of texture. Its a long road ahead... http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b21/Doug89/SD2.jpg

Ive started on a SD but i cant figure out how to get the fine details in it. Its a very basic shape and i cant subsurf it then extrude the faces to add details because it makes it round so maybe ill just subdivide the crap out of it. Maybe ill post that one up here too, just dont laugh at me!

When a developer polishes a game they go back and make sure everything is working correctly they run hundreds of tests, both human and computer. Perhaps they'll play and put eachother in different scenarios and see if the game handles itself appropriately, if not then a fix is needed. They also have computer programs that run through the code and search for errors. After all of this then they probably go back and make sure everything looks nice. And after that perhaps some beta testing and fixing. It is a long process escpecially with such large games such as EaW.

Ive never played galaxies, is it like world of warcraft you become one unit and control all aspects of it? Ive never played world of warcraft either, im not really into those kinds of games. I like RTS's and a few RPG's.

I loaded up my aol this morning, and looked at the newspaper and saw Hirshima 60 years later,, was it the right thing? Well just wanted to know your thoughts on the subject, i figured alot of you guys are in canada or britain and wouldnt mind seeing an outside opinion instead of my egocentric one (i learned that word in social studies class)

Trust me fom what i read about the game it sounds like the manual is a Bible. Dont worry ghostly ill try not to let the AI own me too much! Lol!

You can get a demo of flash but you actualy have to buy the program and it costs a fortune! Luckily my cousin is a graphic design person or something and shes got all sorts of programs and she gave me the flash 5 since the new flash mx is out. Its a pretty amazing program, only 8megs and it can do so much, its also fun and easy to use (once you read a book or a few tutorials). Try out a demo it lasts for 30 days i think, and if you undestand tweening, keyframes, etc. youll be set. I made the timer and my avatar with it. I made a sweeter avatar but it took up too much memory to put on this site.

Nice stuff jahled! Pretty funny! Anyways just thought id mention that JarJarBinks can burn and die.

Dude that is pretty good, this is the best i got thus far. This was like the 2nd tutorial i did, unfortunately it took me way longer than it should have. Not done yet still need a backdrop, ground, mouth color (if i can figure out how to color individual faces) and little touch up work here and there. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b21/Doug89/Lizard1.jpg

Lol! If you ever amass 12,000,000 X-wings or B-wings and me and/or gen.vader amass 1,000 ssd's well have to have a show down and see who wins, but id have to side with you on that one. 12 million is a big number.
-
Yeah gen.vader, sounds like a plan now i know i put those 10 billion galactic credits around here somewhere... Also, fosh what happens if they dont put B-Wings in the game? How will you counter me and Gen.vader's 1,000 SSD's, lol!

??? Sorry to pull you back on earth in the real world and tell you this, but all game company are in this business for one thing: money. Sure, they might be fans and gamers too, but money is still the number one priority. And there's nothing wrong with that. The reason the gaming industry has exploded in the last 10 years is because everybody seemed to realize there was money to be made. Never before has there been so many games developped on so many different platforms. You can thank money for that. And us gamers, benefit tremendously from this. There's a lot of quality games available in so many different genre (RTS,FPS,Sim,MMORPG,Sports,wargame,etc...). I can't even try all of them due to the sheer number available. This doesnt apply as much as you think to petroglyph. Remember they are a small company making the game. Lucasarts is concerned with the monetary aspect while petroglyph is concerned with the 'Making an awesome game" aspect. How many other software development companies take the time to read what their fans write? If these guys cared so much about money there would already be EaW sitting on the store shelves and it would be pretty crappy. But now even though petroglyphs game looks complete their working hard to make it as perfect as possible. These guys love what they do, and when you love what you do money isnt as important as doing a good job. And in the long run the better game they make the more money they make. Remember they are a small company not a massive billiondollar corporation. 29 people make up petroglyph. If the company recieves a mere 10 million from the game, which may or may not be a realistic number each member would recieve almost $345,000.00. Anyways point is, priority #1 Make the best game possible. Just my thoughts on the subject -
This should be the offical EaW forums, out of all the other forums this one seems to be the most interesting, creative and serious.
-
I pray that we will be able to make as many SSD's as we can afford. Imagine having like 5 of them in one fleet!!!! Please god make petroglyph put SSD's in the game.
-
Ill have to adjust mine for feb 7th, i made mine in flash, so maybe ill upgrade the graphics a little and make them mroe appealing like 3d or something.

I could see an expansion pack: Episodes I-III, and maybe even with one like that you could control all of the events from episode I - VI, talk about a long campaign! -
This ship sounds really sweet, im gonna have to build alot of them!
-
i woulde imagine that they would have special abilities. I dont know about the Slave I though. Maybe as a pirate ship or a ship for hire.
