I try to take the game as I see it from videos and official sources. I have no problem suggesting or discussion other ideas that may well not be introduced in any form, but as long as I keep in mind what's actually there and what's not I'm sure it will turn out how it looks in my head.

Ah. A man with a plan. Let me know if I can help with any of those things, and with any luck I'll have other things to add as it begins to take shape. Edit: I noticed the post from Mike Legg as I posted here. I was wondering whether we should go about locking that to avoid questioning from anyone new to the forums. I would do it myself before asking, but I keep second guessing myself about taking any form of moderator action in case I get it wrong.

I... What? I'm a mod? But thats... that's not what I expected, but thanks. Ok, I'll do the best I can. So what is it we officially do, would it be keeping the info stored here up to date or what?

It isn't the same thing, honestly. Not only do they look completely different, one is a slow ground unit and the other is a spacecraft. I tried to take a pic for you Ghostly, but the DivX prevented me from getting any pics which weren't back with green lines.

It's unlikely I'll get the time to write anything short, let alone anything over 10,000 words. That's the problem being slightly perfectionist in this area, about 4000-6000 of those change in a second draft. It's time I'd much rather spend in other ways that's all. I may still get around to writing something short, but don't count on it. Most of those creative processes are at the moment being pooled into those machinima scripts I mentioned.

7th Novemeber it looks like. I'm ust waiting for them to get on and start work on that damn film they keep saying is in pre-production. A ninth series wouldn't go amiss if they can't do that. Oh well, if I was offered that's fine, but doesn't look like my area of expertese. I think we just have to face I'm not being considered no matter how much we Brits stick together. Best to find some other use for my... *ahem*... talents. 2nd technition sounds good.

I always got the impression that in terms of board game story were more of a suicidal kind of side. Fight for the emperor until the last man standing. But everything I heard about the DOW expansion suggested they were a defensive side, with turrets etc that work as bunkers, and relying on the bonuses of terrain and general location.

Darkmark. BSC. SSC. Yeah. We could have an English news reporter too, show them how it's done. I already did my little audition earlier. Thing is I'm sure Little.B and Siddus are much more qualified and likely to find new and interesting stuff than me. I'd just hang about and re-report it like a nutcase.
-
Cain did say that he'd have them both be mods if Little.B makes any indication that he wants it. It also makes sense because the information they'd be privy to would be different because of their location. Let 'em both in. Surely its a "more the merrier" situation.

I have to get me one of those... It'll be interesting to see how the Imperial guard actually play, what with them being the underdogs in terms of infantry units. They'll be the only real defensive side, and usually in RTS', those who show no aggression get beaten back quickly. Like I say, it'll be interesting to see how they've balanced it, and how they play as a side with their tanks and long range artillery.

Hi, welcome. I think I mentioned the release date in a thread in the last two days or so, and it was of then still 6th February. I don't have rebellion, but with what everyone was saying about it the same thought crossed my mind. The problem I found was finding a copy. Some can be found on E-bay, but when I looked before about a month ago there were none that could deliver outside the US.

Indeed, I am an oxymoron. But seriously, by believable fantasy I meant believable in the sense it isn't cel shaded, has a cartoonesque feel to it, or is unable to engage the player because the characters/locations/events seem lacking realism. When I say fantasy, I also mean specifically genre wise. Basically what I mean is the ability to believe this fantasy COULD exist. If I didn't love oxymorons so, I could have said "believable story world", but it doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
-
Hmmm, News eh? "This is the 8:00 news..." Yeah, I could do that job no problem. But I have faith in Cain, so while I'd love the chance to do something for the EAW community, I'm sure Siddus is by far the better choice for the role. So what would he have to do exactly? Would it just be keeping the info stored here up to date? Incidently, one of the voices in my head suggested this very same arguement. In return I hit him over the head with a metaphorical shovel. EDIT: Apparently it's not 8:00 by the forum clock, plus I was a minute early. Dang, my clever joke wasted.

The way I see it it's similar to Warcraft, just more modern and more along the lines of a believable fantasy. I liked the idea that their bases exist as one building with many hubs. I don't think this has been done with any recent RTS', but even if it has, from screenshots it looks like these guys are doing it right.

Looks great. It's really taken shape.

I have...erm Warcraft I Warcraft II Warcraft III and the expansion (bought seperately) SW: Galactic Battlegrounds and the expansion Age of Empires and the expansion Age of Empires II Starcraft and the expansion ST: Aramada ST: Armada II Dawn of War Rome Total War Battle For Middle Earth... These are the ones I've got here and the ones back home I can remember... Now, what I want in order: EAW Winter Assault Rise of Legends (The want spreads like a disease) SW: Rebellion Rise of Nations (If found cheaply ) Age of Emipires III Battle For Middle Earth 2 (I have issues the first, but I'm not condemning it yet) There are others to this list too, but it would basically be a list of most existing RTS'. Just because I want them doesn't mean I'm going to get them.

I tried out the demo and it's pretty cool. All seems a bit slow at the beginning though, but that's probably because I haven't got a proper build order sorted for it. Oh, I like that monument that spawns foot soldiers. Doesn't make a vast difference, but I loved forgetting about it and realising I had a whole army there If I see it for a cheap price I may well get it.
-
The film at that point is very cool. Whoever worked on the CGI in it did a good job, but no I'd never seen one like it before. I never even considered the possibility it would be in EAW, probably for the best because I don't see it happening. IMPS is cool, but I liked Troops more

"Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances!" For some reason I love that line.

It's almost... Hypnotic...

I was suprised just how few unit types BFME did have. When you compare it to how many have been shown so far in EAW, it shows just how few they actually modelled. The unit caps on BFME were a bit odd too, but these are minor things. With any luck EA will learn from its mistakes. The only thing I like so far about the prospect of BFME2 is the ability to create your own heroes. This might just about cancel out the want for any more memorable heroes like in the fellowship or Saruman.

T'wasn't me. I think the trailer did little to change my opinion of the game, but then again because that's because I've seen a good amount of the video footage out there, and saw nothing awe inspiring that wasn't shown before in some way. If I was coming at it from a clear perspective, having never heard of EAW, it would most definately be a big yes. But I'm not, so it's a no difference for me. I agree with Cain, the trailer itself can be improved upon, but that's not to say this version is bad at all.
-
Very nice. I can appreciate the effort in making it look good. I used to model WW2 aircraft way back when I was smaller, but never would paint them because I was too afraid I would make a mess of it and ruin them. I still have them all grey and bare hanging in my old room. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

The ideas are pretty unpopular, but since when has that stopped politicians?

Sorry, should have quoted. It was in response to Havok's I'm all for the discussion of strategy, so sorry if I sounded negative.
