I finished reading Cradle by Arthur C. Clarke. It was a decent book which I am happy to have finished. Although a bit anti-climactic. I also read I am Legend right after I saw the movie... finished it in three days, at work, on breaks. It was ok.. not as good as I thought it would be, but definitely a good book to read in order to understand the older generations... but yea, now I am reading Starship Troopers.. and hopefully will be done with that in the next two weeks or so...

I very rarely look at the screen or the keyboard... if i make a mistake I generally know it just by where my fingers have hit... Typing was drilled into me though by both my school and my parents, from a very early age. So.. it was a simple transition to computers..

I saw I am Legend a few weekends back and actually enjoyed it more than the book. The book was written so long ago that the social commentary in it almost doesn't apply to today's culture. The movie and book had different endings and different commentaries which were appropriate for the time. I saw Sweeny Todd just the other night and must say its a pretty damn good movie. Of course, Helena Bonham Carter does a great job, as does Johnny Depp. Unfortunately I had to endure seeing the movie from the front row, but plan on seeing it again comfortably from the back. Oh and hello all. I'm still around, just tons of overtime and no more internet allowed at work. So I really forget to check the site from home sometimes but plan on doing so once I get back in town from the family's abode.

Not to beat a dead horse.. but.. its not orbit Rob... here.. i was trying to find a graphic from popular science.. (or was it Popular Mechanics).. that illustrated what they are talking about.. either way.. this one is pretty damn good... http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39231000/gif/_39231078_hypersonic_bomber_416inf.gif You can see, that they are talking about a plane which will deliver ordnance on the other side of the earth within two hours... it would be considerably less if the flight path were shorter.... (its a two hour trip from New York to Tokyo in one of those planes..)

So if it's not a weapon of Mass destruction it's ok. So that means we can use anything short of a nuke and still be within treaty. Def, nuclear weapons are not the only WMD.. and besides.. going back to one of the older posts.. Definately sounds like a WMD to me... really guys, in all reality yes.. its a program for the defense department.. and that more than likely means it could be used for war efforts.. but again, it never said it HAD to be nukes or even WMD's the Aurora is simply a hypersonic aircraft which goes into (near)space in order to traverse (close to) the ENTIRE earth in roughly two hours.... that fits the article.. almost to a tee... it never said it would be space based or for that matter, HAD to be in space for two hours.. it said simply that it COULD aquire a target on the other side of the earth in two hours...

yea, but then you're a scab and the companies are hiring scabs... which is not favorable... (scab is slang for strikebreaker) the guild would go crazy... plus then when the strike is ended and they are all hired back... there you are sitting among the people who's face you spat in... and thats never good...

I have to agree with Tex here guys, whats the big deal? Not only did the article never once say that it is a permanent space fixture, but it never once said anything about missiles EXCEPT in the TITLE of the webpage... and that was given by someone who is obviously not the author of the article... the article only mentions missiles when it refers to the program that is going to lose funding, not the one that is acquiring funding... oh and to quote the link Tex posted... This is to say that the other article which states CONUS = CONtinental United States.... they are saying the same thing just different code names... which have a tendency to change over time.. so.. its probably the same thing... a damn plane... so.. relax guys... its ok.. its not the end of the world..

I think at that point the last thing on your mind is the color control on your car.. you'd be fine but all your other electrical systems are fried too...
-
That would be pretty awesome... except the whole car being white when its turned off thing.... thats a tad annoying.. i hate white cars..

Dammit JH, you have bested me!!! For some reason, I thought the quote was "Damn the laws of thermodynamics", but you have proved me wrong. I do remember him saying that. Bravo. Wasn't trying to best you or anything Rob I actually had to search it to make sure I was remembering correctly... anyway.. just thought i would throw this in there... about thermo.. The laws of Thermodynamics... summed up Zeroth: You must play the game. First: You can't win. Second: You can't break even. Third: You can't quit the game.

Cool costume indeed Rob, but may I ask.. why are Science and Math on your shit list?? and why oh why do you damn the laws of thermodynamics? They keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer! It just turns out that in my college days of becoming a Mechanical Engineer a couple of my favorite classes were Thermo I and Thermo II...

This isnt what upsets me about the EU, as a matter of fact I find that part to be quite enjoyable.. This isn't really the part of the EU that I dislike. I didnt really want to touch on that, but seeing yours and Tex's subsequent comment, I guess I need to.. Don't get me wrong Tex, Peregrinus, I dont think GL is infallible.. he definately came along and screwed up something we all loved.. Tex, your example was perfect!.. Han shot first, and to go back and change it just because some people whined or argued is pure madness.. (or is it Sparta?! haha.. not sure that joke will ever get old..)... Anyway, I don't mean to say that what you see is what you get with the movies, or even that the movies are totally 100% correct... (especially when looking at their most recent incarnation!).. however, I consider the original cut, released in theaters, is what is to be held constant... if something were to come along and contradict what has been already said.. well, it has the possibility of being disregarded as pure rubbish. Now, to say that a book which is written by some author who may or may not have seen the movies, or read the other books, is greater than that which was once already stated thirty years ago is pure lunacy.. at least in my opinion... even when it comes to GL.. I think that him taking the already established lore (backstory... or whatever) of a character or event and perverting it into something sickening, such as MIDICHLORIANS!!.. or Boba Fett! (why would you turn the most bad ass bounty hunter into a freaking Kiwi clone in space?!?!?! why god?... why?...). anyways.. him doing that is just complete stupidity.. ok and now i really need to get back to work so im gonna cut it way short..
