Halloween

Featured Replies

It's October!

Anyone thinking of going out for Halloween this year?

I know, most of you are old enough that it's not really foremost in your minds. If you even have halloween where you live.

( Do they have halloween in Australia? I wouldnt mind knowing. )

I've started the first steps of preparing a costume. IF I go out this year, which I haven't in ages.

The last time(s) I went out I made up a pair of stilts. Unfortunately they wern't all too stable.

The second time I used them they worked better. Trial and error.

It helped that I used a pair of old ski poles to keep me from falling over.

Perhaps I'll make myself a cane if I use those things again.

This year if I finish the costume in time I shall be going as a soldier from WW1.

The Great War.

The War to End all Wars.

That really muddy ugly one that people would really rather forget.

Needless to say finding a pattern even close to what I'll need was bloody hard!

I've ended up having to take a pattern from a woman's outfit that I'll modify slightly.

I was supprised by the number of woman's outfis that are basically men's clothing from onehundred to threehundred years ago. I saw one in the catalogue at the cloth store that looked a bit like a musketeer's outfit for women.

Another was a little girl's jacket with the same sort of cut one might see worn by an officer or nobleman in 1800's Europe.

I haven't done any sewing in ages. I had to have been something like nine years old. Perhaps an exageration but I can't even remember the last time I used the machine.

I gots to work Halloween night so the bums with kids can have off. But I am going home the weekend before for a party Saturday night. Me and my girlfriend are dressing up like Jay and Silent Bob (me being Bob). I will def. post up a pic afterwards. My best bud is going to be Dr. Emmet Brown (crazy doc in Back to the Future). It should def. be an interesting night. I just gotta buy some cigarettes and start smoking...

Since a couple of years, halloween is celebrated here in germany again. Rember halloween was a old german celebration about thousands of years ago and now it comes back over the big ocean again. Even in my city there´s a big celebration on the main-street when it´s dark. There will be buckets of fire and of course pumpkins everywhere. But rather few people will wear a costume. Because we got carnival at about february/march which looks like this.

Ah yes, another techno-parade! :|

Mmk, that just got a little weird there ....

Anyway, Aus doesn't really .. ah, what would you call it - "celebrate" Halloween? (I question that, because it doesn't seem like a celebration to me :? )

We get all the American shows with their Halloween specials, the news sometimes mentions it (more frequently now) - but I've never seen anyone "Trick or Treating".

I do think some people use it as an excuse for a Halloween party and to dress up. Oh, and freaks (a little like me  ) get an excuse to go out and look weird*

"No, I assure you this is NOT a costume and I did NOT know it was Halloween - geez, you're the third guy to ask me that... and this is my house?!?"

Ever notice how wearing a trench coat (And I own a suit style trench coat) stops people sitting next to you on the train? Really, it works! 8O Yet everyone tells me I look professional and Layer like ... meh, must be the eyebrows (Seeing as I once posted a distored image of me - you wont know I've got naturally occuring "deamonic" eyebrows. Kids can be so cruel ).

Hmm, late nights I shouldn't post ...

*Nothing actually weird, but being a metal, industrial person - black and the occational trench coat (been to hot this year for that) become common place. Except for this year, I've blossomed out a little more

I used to dress up for work at my last job, since I worked in an office. Now that I'm at a restaurant to get through school, its harder to do so. But my most famous outfits were "Bobzilla" and "Darth Alf" (I gotta find a pic of that one).

I was going to dress up like this but have no reason to this year. Too old to Trick or Treat. No parties. D'oh!

What's with the feathered wings? If I'm gonna be a Winger Repeaper I fully intend to have bat-like wings!

On a side note: The Poison Candy Scare

Ugh... I still can't get the image of a razor blade stuck in the mouth out of my head... Ouchies.

Wow, impressive looking costume ther JH 8O

@Mad: I'll have to get a picture later today. Little busy with uni work, and it's a bad bush fire day so I need to be alert for fires.

But it wasn't leather - it's a think fabric and is very warm.

Unfortunatly, I don't have the DarthAlf pics. My bud has them and I just e-mailed him to send me copies. However, here is an interesting pic of me with my famous Alf-mask in another light. During this time, my friend and I created the "Alf Cooking Show" where I, dressed as Alf, prepared some kind of cat stew. However, I was out of fresh cat, and comedy ensued as I searched the house for some fresh cat.
