  1. I like iPods. I hate iTunes. Such is life... so long as Apple tries to control how I listen to my music, I will never own an iPod.
  2. Personally, I bet the Empire could build almost any of the Rebel ships. I can't imagine they don't have the schematics and plans for them, except for perhaps a few exceptions (like perhaps the Mon Cal cruiser). I just don't give the Imperials access to all those ships because it's annoying to scroll past them in the list when I'm going for powerful Imperial vessels Sometimes I give the Rebels access to ISDs; I will replace an Alliance ship with a copy of the ISD card, tweak the settings just a bit to put it somewhere between a classic ISD and an ISD2, and set a research value for it. So it's like the Alliance stole the plans and upgraded them just a bit, but it takes time for them to do so.
  3. I can't add attachments through the interface here, but if you'll PM me your email I can send it to you. The version I have is the same one I've had for a few years, but last I checked it worked fine.
  4. In-game sounds are surprisingly hard to edit as well; the Reloaded team had problems getting the volume correct, and it's hard to find enough people to record the lines. Additionally, editing events (like when force users meet) and what happens when Solo runs into bounty hunters can get a little tricky. Not too bad, so long as you don't try and change things too much (most of those events are hard coded and can only be changed aesthetically, like the pictures and sound). Models are difficult to get right as well (if you make your own). You have to find just the right balance of detail or you get problems with the Z-buffer. Conversely, you include too little detail and the model doesn't look as good as it can. Using other people's models is pretty easy though. Same with cards; pretty easy to import and modify values for personal preference or game balance. Also, if you use SWREditor in addition to RebEd, you can edit the AI value of different units... thus encouraging the AI to build one ship over another
  5. I tend to allow Victory SDs to be built by both sides as well, and I replace a dreadnought with another ship and let both sides build the remaining dreadnought...
  6. I'm not sure if the Default Set will restore the file structure and folder names or not. Right now, I have memorized the location of the folders necessary to reach my playlists, but if clicking the default settings button doesn't restore file names (and even more importantly, the ability to access the device from a computer and put things on it), then all it will do is change my playlists and make it even more unusable. I'm posting my woes on another forum, one frequented by Samsung folks. Some of them actually know what they are doing; as an example, the company stopped releasing firmware updates to the US a year ago, but the guys on this forum have kept updating the firmware sets from Japan and releasing them, unofficially, to American customers. One of them should know exactly what the Default Set does, and may even know another way to restore the file structure without having to format the thing and starting over completely.
  7. This needs no introduction, it speaks for itself. This is a direct quote; nothing has been added or changed in any way (except this intro and the note at the bottom). Chat InformationPlease wait for a Samsung Agent to respond. Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Kirsten K' Visitor: Hello Kristen K Kirsten K: Hello, I am a Samsung Technical Support representative. How may I assist you today? Visitor: I have a Samsung P3 (16GB Black) mp3 player, and have a bit of a problem with the file names Kirsten K: I will be right with you. Kirsten K: I appreciate if you can give me a detailed description of the problem to assist you better. Visitor: My P3 lost all file names (for everything: videos, songs, folders in the file browser, everything) Visitor: This occurred directly after I transferred some text files in various formats to the P3 Visitor: While connected to my computer via USB cable, I moved several files into the "text" folder on the device; when the transfer completed I unplugged it and turned it on, only to find all the names missing Visitor: It will still play songs, but none of the folders or files show a filename anymore; restarting did not fix the problem Visitor: This is also visible from the computer when it is connected (All folders are named "Local Disk") Visitor: What's more, the computer sees that several GBs of space are used on the device, but all eleven "Local Disk" folders are said to be 0 bytes (and none of them open) Visitor: I am using Windows 7, and updated the firmware on the P3 a few weeks ago to the most recent at that time Visitor: (Win 7 32 bit) Kirsten K: Okay. Kirsten K: Please stay on hold while I research on the issue. Visitor: Okay Kirsten K: Thank you. Visitor: If it helps, I transferred text files in the following formats just prior to this happening: .doc .lit .rb .fb2 .rtf and .pdf Kirsten K: Thanks for holding. Kirsten K: I suggest you use Emodio software to transfer the files. Kirsten K: I will provide it for you. Kirsten K: Below is the weblink for Emodio software: Visitor: That will not correct my current problem Kirsten K: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=US&CttFileID=2243780&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=YP-P3JCB&VPath=SW/200904/20090420130050093/EmoDio_1054.exe Visitor: That may prevent the issue from happening in the future, but I first need to recover the file names and restore functionality to the device Kirsten K: I am sorry, it is not recommended to transfer the files directly to player. Visitor: Are you saying you do not know how to restore my device? Remember, all the folders are completely unnamed; I cannot even browse folders within the device Visitor: Transferring files through Emodio will not make the player usable again Visitor: It may prevent this from happening again, but I need to restore the device first Kirsten K: I am sorry, it may not be possible. Visitor: Then I need to wipe the device and return it to factory default (including the original file structure) Visitor: How do I do this? Kirsten K: Below is the weblink to reset the player: Kirsten K: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=42454&modelname=YP-P3JCB&modelcode=&session_id=LN1tnLlCsnZyT7qqr15w9LqGJppvMdcnGFgFrL8Sh42MQJJr6t4H!-334197250!1761676444!7501!-1!1099773383!1761676348!7501!-1!1267594541514 Kirsten K: Is there anything else I can help you with? Visitor: That will not reset the file structure to its default Kirsten K: This will reset the player and all the customized settings will be lost. Visitor: That is simply directions to the reset button Kirsten K: Yes, exactly. Visitor: After pushing said button, my custom wallpapers remain in use, along with the name attached to the device Visitor: Custom settings have not been reset Visitor: The reset button "reboots" the player; it does not reset settings Kirsten K: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you. Kirsten K: Thanks for holding. Kirsten K: I am sorry, it is not possible to bring back the file on the player. Kirsten K: Can I be of any further assistance? Visitor: The files are all still there, they are simply nameless. This includes original system files; are you saying there is no way to restore original system files? Visitor: If that is what you are saying, then the player is completely useless and cannot be fixed. I find this impossible to believe Kirsten K: Yes, exactly. Visitor: So I should just throw it away then Kirsten K: I apologize for the inconvenience. Kirsten K: It is not recommended to transfer the files directly to the player. Visitor: Then why is this feature supported? Visitor: Why do you not have a way to restore the system to its default settings? Visitor: And why do I know more about how the P3 works than you do, when I've only had it a month and you are a technician? Kirsten K: Based on the description of your issue, this would be something that you would want to call in for assistance with. Most issues can be resolved with just a couple of troubleshooting steps. However, it could be quite lengthy to sort out via LiveChat. Kirsten K: The quickest way to a resolution would be to contact technical support at : 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864) Timings: Mon - Sun : 9am - 9pm (EST). Kirsten K: Thank you for chatting with us. Have a wonderful day! Chat InformationChat session has been terminated by the Samsung Agent. (Note: On the P3, there is a setting called "Default Set". It's located under Settings -> System -> Default Set. There is also a format option listed there. At no time did the technician refer to this option, and just as I was about to bring it up the technician killed the connection.)
  8. I can't believe no one has answered these for you... 1. When Luke/Leia meet Vader/Emperor, a special event is called. There are sound files and pictures attached, as well as coding that determines if the characters capture one or the other, if injuries happen, and if any of the characters grow in the force. Any time one of the twins (Luke/Leia) are at the same planet as Vader/Emperor, they will almost certainly meet. This does not include one character in orbit and another on the surface; if any of the characters are given a mission in a location with an opposing character, a meeting will almost always happen. This is also true for when a character tries to escape a blockade containing the opposing character, or when a planet is invaded. 2. Force users do foil each other. If their force ratings are high enough. Remember, other factors go into actually foiling; force ratings only allow the enemy character to be detected, not foiled outright. But once detected, it is much easier to foil a mission. 3. Short answer, no. The number of ships and characters is hard coded and cannot be changed. Long answer? Sort of. If you open RebEd, pick a capital ship to modify, and find the two check boxes for which side can build a given ship. Theoretically, you could allow both sides to build all ships, or one side to build all and leave the other unable to build anything. Or anything in-between those extremes. Which may be interesting... one side gets several types of fighters but no capital ships, while the other gets capital ships but no fighters... but I digress. I believe the same is true for characters, but not major characters. Those slots cannot be changed from one side to another. 4. It must be 2/4. This is hard coded and unchangeable. 5. I don't know... my games never last long enough for this to be an issue... Hope this helps, even if it is a bit late for a response...
  9. Unfortunately, Reloaded managed to hit beta stage only through the very dedicated efforts of a select group. As awesome as this game is, most of the fans have moved on; there aren't enough people here to drum up interest anymore. Those talented people have moved on to other things, and there isn't anyone left to take their places.
  10. Yeah, long ago I discovered that to enjoy many movies, I have to ignore the inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Otherwise, I spend the whole time criticizing. But ignoring those things, I can enjoy Italian Job, Ocean's Eleven, Fast and Furious, Star Wars, and dozens of other horribly impossible movies!
  11. Isn't math fun? Although knowing things like this make me frustrated when I see movies like Italian Job (towards the beginning, one guy fires automatic rounds from what looks like an AK-47 into a lake... and they definitely don't break up on impact as they should).
  12. I loved that show. The movie was pretty good too. I've always wondered why the series was pulled off the air...
  13. I don't know what the file does; I don't have it anywhere on my computer. A google search reveals it isn't a Windows file or any other standard file; the format suggests something similar to a standard .dll file. It must be a library of some sort that either comes from RebEd or Rebellion (but again, I don't have it anywhere on my system). I just recently installed Win7; before the change over everything was working fine. I suspect that the crossover messed up my installation. I'll reinstall and see what I can figure out.
  14. I can no longer read your posts without feeling a degree of frustration or anger. Regardless of your intentions, when I feel such it comes out in my writing (as it would in speech). I promised myself long ago to not speak of God under such conditions. It just seems... wrong, somehow. Even if it didn't, a frustrated mind is a closed mind, not open to new perspectives or insights. I certainly did not call you evil. You take offense where none was intended. If anyone who has ever been involved with or caused contention was evil, then who among us would not be? We both participated, and the contention came from us both. Though I do resent your attempts to draw me back into the discussion. You speak as though to get me to defend my earlier statements, refute yours, and continue. You claim honest inquiry, but statements such as "Read the NT thoroughly, front to back, and you'll find no substantive relationship between the early church and the lds church in organization, practice, or belief." do not show honest inquiry, but rather a pre-made decision and unwillingness to accept my responses, as though I was trying to convert you when I had no such intention. Perhaps your intention was not to draw me back in, but it feels as such to me. And to prime me for response you ask a question which I would normally not hesitate to answer. You certainly have a way with words, an eloquence. I suspect I lack such skill. Eloquence is wasted, however, if used (even accidentally) to anger or frustrate others. Perhaps you may find another to argue with, but my disposition is such that I cannot and will not do so. It may be a weakness, I can't tell. Irregardless, I must excuse myself. God bless.
  15. What version of Windows are you using? I've got Windows 7 and just duplicated your problem. I'm going to work on it and I'll tell you how to fix it when I figure it out...
  16. And thus the discussion degenerates into argumentative dogma. I have tried my best to put forward my point of view without overly criticizing others, and certainly without trying to insult you. I apologize if anything I've said has caused offense. Perhaps YOU can't help but infer the end of the prophets from Heb 1:1-2. I can. Perfect example of how arguing with the scriptures is a waste of time; hence I AM NOT trying to convince you. What I've said is my beliefs, but rather than understand my beliefs you attempt to prove them wrong. That's not a discussion. Modern revelation reveals that the church in our day is organized in the same way it was during the Apostolic age, with only a few exceptions called for because of different circumstances (such as vastly larger distances and populations). These exceptions also come from modern revelation. Again, if you don't believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, this is irrelevant. Take things in order, rather than swallowing an entire truck load at once. Without prophets after Smith, we'd still be practicing polygamy, men of color wouldn't have the priesthood, we wouldn't understand the Atonement or judgment or temple ordinances nearly as well as we do; we wouldn't be able to send missionaries to exactly where they are meant to go, nor would we have keys to perform temple work and eternal family sealings. Do not mock what you do not understand, and if you believe earrings to be the only thing addressed in recent years, then you truly do not understand. Everything you infer about the offices in the NT are just that- inferences. The NT books were written to people who already understood these offices and NEVER give a definition. They hint, they sometimes mention duties and responsibilities, but never is any office fully explained. Hence the need, again, for modern revelation. Look around; you won't find any church that agrees in doctrine and practices with others. Is God the author of confusion? If the Bible was meant to end it all, it would be clear enough to allow at least SOME consensus. Even major doctrines, such as the doctrine of grace and practice of baptism, are subjects of contention between denominations. I have read the NT. Thoroughly, start to finish. I don't know everything, but I am not another man's parrot. I'm sorry that this discussion has to end this way. When I see statements like this, it's time to end the conversation. Only contention will come after such statements.
  17. Restart the computer in safe mode. Then delete it.
  18. 1. Hebrews 1:1-2 says explicitly that God spoke to their ancestors via prophets, and in their day did so through Jesus Christ. It does not say God is done calling servants by which to operate in the world. Such is, I suppose, and interpretation of the verse, but we view it as an incorrect interpretation. 2. The purpose of prophets in the OT was not just to foretell of Jesus. It was to reveal God to the people. Revealing God means revealing His purposes and His will, as well as foretelling the Savior's coming. Isn't the Savior coming again? Do you suppose the world has no further need of understanding and direction from God? Taken from Hugh B Brown's talk, some reasons for which God would stop talking to man are: A) God has lost the power B) God doesn't love us anymore C) We don't need Him anymore Of course, A is blasphemous, as B is to a degree. God is no respecter of persons, and certainly loves us even as He loved those of old. Do you mean to say we don't need God's voice anymore? I would argue otherwise, that in this world of conflict and confusion, we need His direction just as much as anyone previously ever did. 3. The pattern found in Biblical times was not that of prophets at all times. A prophet would be called, and as time went on the people would stop listening to him. In the church we call it apostasy. During times of apostasy, there was no prophet, while God waited for a time when the people would again listen to His servants. Frequently, God would humble the people Himself to accomplish this. The people of Jesus' time rejected Him, crucified Him, and hunted down and killed the Apostles He had called to carry on in His stead. Over the course of time, the church which Jesus set up was changed; parts were modified, removed, or added. God prepared a place and time when again He could speak and people would listen. Enter Joseph Smith, in the religious freedom of America (the only place at the time with this freedom). Joseph certainly was called as past prophets were; by God directly. Compare Moses and Adam, who also spoke with God in such a way. If you don't believe Joseph was a prophet, there is no point in comparing the calling of past prophets after him. The truth of this church compared to other Christian groups is either found in Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, or the religion is false and all that has come after it is inconsequential. 4. I feel we must agree to disagree on this point. Judaism may have only had one high priest, but this was a different office than that which we call a high priest in our church. The position of high priest in Judaism was done away with when the Mosaic code was done away with. If you insist on comparing two different offices of the same name, then there is nothing I can say to dissuade you from such a comparison. 5. *sigh* As I said, I'm NOT trying to convince you that my position is the right one. No man can, nor should any undertake to prove by reason and logic alone ANYTHING that is of God. When a person tries to prove by empirical reasoning and evidence the things of God, that person has become a hypocrite. You cannot prove the existence of God with science, why would you argue His word by science? Everything certainly does make sense, but we lack some of the information necessary to reach the same conclusions God has. His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways. Just as we do not understand the details of Jesus Christ's sacrifice and Atonement, there are other parts of the gospel which only God can explain to us. If you are unwilling to ask God questions, then you are missing out on a vast store of knowledge and direction. You may argue whether or not I did receive the answers from God I claim to have received, but to disapprove or disbelieve my process is to disagree with God when He said "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God" (James 1:5). I did not say it was impossible to prove by the Bible that God still calls prophets. I meant that I would not attempt such. Such discussions go no-where quickly, as the interpretations of the scriptures in question vary drastically from group to group. I have prayed, and that is why I agree with the interpretations given by LDS prophets. "I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true..." Moroni 10:4. If you do not wish to ask, that is perfectly fine. But I am saying I believe what I believe because I asked, and received an answer. Again, I am not trying to convert you, and see no reason to attempt to prove by reason or scripture that which I believe impossible to prove. Others say the same, that they believe what they believe because of answers to prayer. The only way to know what they know is to ask God yourself, and I invite you to do just that whenever anyone says such a thing. Those truly seeking truth seek it from the source, not from books and scholars down-river. "Inquiry is the birthplace of testimony." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf I feel we have probably reached the end of this line of questioning. To stick with this topic is to induce argument, not explanation. Feel free to respond to what I've said, but know I probably won't respond again in depth on this topic.
  19. Actually, I have seen that Mythbusters. Firing into water doesn't work so well. I don't remember one about firing while underwater... I imagine it would work better than firing into water, but still not well. Am I right?
  20. I apologize for not having responded sooner. My apartment's internet has been off and on all week (all semester really, but this week has been especially bad). I think I'll get time tomorrow to respond on campus (where the 'net works all the time).
  21. I'm a CIT major, but I'm taking a basic computer engineering class just for the background. The circuitry stuff is pretty cool, though I have a hard time with some of the number crunching. Mostly because I don't ever put in the work I should
  22. Circuit with only two resistors? Pretty simple circuit... not hard to find the current whatsoever. Then again, I am taking a computer engineering course right now, and all I've done for the last two months is find voltages and currents in various circuits... I just hope for your sake you don't get into network analysis. Especially if you have to delve into the differential calculus side of network analysis.
  23. So wait... is it working now? Can you manually delete the files, and then reinstall? Also, do you have administrator privileges?
  24. I think we get just about everything for free that a fellow could ask for: Visual Basic, Win7, various development software... I just wish the same held true for Photoshop. Ah, how nice that would be...
  25. I get Win7 for free through my college. I even get to pick 32 or 64 bit (or both)
