  1. The proper term is drow! ^Most indeedy! They first appeared in an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons module called 'Halls of the Fire Giant King,' (lurking on level three), I suspect only only farts like Tex and myself would originally remember, and subsequently in Descent in to the Depths of the Earth, Shrine of the Koa-Toa, Vault of the Drow, and Queen of the Demon Web Pits. All written by Gary Gyjax (or however you spell his name)
  2. R2-D2 did indeed prove to be a feisty one: http://www2.b3ta.com/host/creative/9805/1182536034/GoodheavensR2.jpg
  3. I love right-wing flaming twats in America: from far-right columnist Mark Steyn, who attacked the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre. No, that's not a misprint. He said they were "decadent" for not fighting back, and snapped, "They're not 'children.' The [victims] were grown women and - if you'll forgive the expression - men." Yay! Ann Coulter said in her number one bestseller Godless that she has "never seen women enjoying their husbands' deaths as much" as the 9/11 victims. Yay! op-rated radio host Glenn Beck recently explained, "It took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims' families... When I see a 9/11 victim's family on television, I'm like, 'Shut up!' I'm so sick of them - they're always complaining." He added, "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims" - until Hurricane Katrina. He called the people trapped in New Orleans "scumbags" and said "they're ruining it for everybody." Yay! Even some British spackoid Richard Littlejohn said the terrified Iranian hostage Faye Turney should "join Celebrity Fat Club". He even attacked the women who were killed in Ipswich as "disgusting drug-addled street whores" and "no great loss". Yay! Humanity at it's very, very best! Source: The ever excellent Liberal columnist Johann Hari in his recent Independent article Rushdie is not the author of his woes, being critical of the Muslim muppets condemning Rushdie's knighthood. He also wrote this making it clear who the real cause of 9/11 was. You went to war just after 1800 against this particular brand of Islam with the Barber countries I believe. Noted! Indeed a language issue matey. This side of the pond the majority of people are only to happy to describe themselves as 'liberal' in their outlook in life, I am. It doesn't have to equate to their politics to much these days, which I guess is why Europe laughs so much at the United States with it's obsessive abuse of the word. My politics is fairly much centre of the road for the record. I truly hate communists with a utter vengeance; happen to think Bush is the worse President in North American history, yet look upon Reagan's Republican Presidency as a golden-age, that won the free world the cold war, despite our Thatcher being rather clumsy with her much needed economic reforms, and also think Clinton was an utter muppet. What I ultimately don't understand is the all round flaming you guys in the States seem to thrive on within politics, because from my perception it just invokes shouting rather than rational mainstream debate.
  4. What a fierce puppy! LF  It's art!

  9. Aye, it's subtle, but i've only been using the software since half ten this morning! I tried it out with this logo I found lurking on my HD: http://www.jahled.co.uk/sgnews_ripple.gif and got it down to about 117kb
  10. http://www.jahled.co.uk/yikes.gif Super kitty doesn't want to get wet!
  11. http://www.xiberpix.com/SqirlzReflect.html Lovely little program I discovered this morning that's dead easy to use. It creates rain and watery ripple effects. Watch your file sizes though that it saves the gifs at, i'm finding it generates them just under a meg if you try and be to complicated. As a tip, set a sequence at about ten frames and then optimize in Image Ready. You can save them as .avi files, however. Edit: and snow http://www2.b3ta.com/host/creative/9805/1182173826/icantseeathing.gif Veers: "I can't see a bloody thing!"
  12. ..and six months later: http://www.jahled.co.uk/swbanner_ripple.gif Downside is the 176kb filesize for a banner, but I guess it's an animation!

  15. Oh dear.. http://www2.b3ta.com/host/creative/9805/1182109676/ohdear.jpg
  16. Not entirely sure really, it was just a rather nice source pic of a doorway and a room shrouded in shadow, that had such minimal lighting levels anything could be added. So I added our lovely little lifeboat! Then the ale-inspired philosophy set in, the state of our planet, etc, so I duplicated the original layer, selected all the windows and pasted-in a twilight skyline. 'Twilight's Peak.' Ultimately, I wanted to see what something so 'black' would look like on a black forum background. I think it works beautifully! The common Moon brownhairedcowbird: http://www2.b3ta.com/host/creative/9805/1182101203/moonbird.jpg

  18. I think it was used to describe Jedi kids resident in the temple along the context of 'cub scouts' and not a replacement to the word 'child.' Any use of it around the SW community to refer to younger members is only natural I guess!
  19. Hahahahahahahahaha
  20. Back on topic fellas please! We don't want to startle any younglings
  21. Like a Force-wielding Charles Darwin? My mind boggles at the concept! None of these are mine, but a little graphics lunacy went down elsewhere I thought I should share, Star Wars socks: admiralsockbar Yodasock R2-Sock2 Chewsockba Jabbathesock Obiwansockobi
  22. Oh well, what if Obi-Wun was a naturalist..
  23. All but the khaki part. He had jeans on. Did he unexpectedly have to sit down and bemoan about the loss of millions in an ant-hive at any point?
  24. Love it!
  25. I think it really does appear in the film, though in a blink and you'll miss it context. I vaguely remember seeing this before somewhere. GL and SS's cross references in their films have been quite frequent.
