Emmm... we had some limited feedback regarding the source code in another thread... but it was communication! Perhaps we might start by asking the fiendmasters at LucasArts what the score is on the legal front. If their response is silence then we at least had the legal standpoint of bothering to ask them. If we get a response and some guidelines then we will have something in theory to work around. A timeline of five years!!! Whilst realistic Igor is a tab depressing to digest! Our experiance with the reloaded project is that people sign up full of enthusiam and then vannish leaving at times huge holes for the more dedicated members to patch up. (But take heart dudes; reloaded is on it's way...and looking awesome!!! Having said that, we could in theory devote our brains to the subject...

Bear something in mind about the whole 'Imperial Xenophobic/racist' thing; GL didn't and has not mentioned anything in his work concerning the subject, other than an unfortunate Imperial Officer refering to Chewie as 'a thing' which was quickly followed by Leia refering to Chewie as 'a walking carpet...' Smacks of racism on both counts if you translate that into our little world and replace Chewie with for example a Muslim...or not if you put aside or the dodgy b-rate additions to the SW mythos since. Think about it before you slate my inbox with hate mail.... It's not really practical for an Empire to dominate the known galaxy in the sole-hands of one particular species(ie humaniti), nor is it realistic, so it's one deep flaw the SW community has accepted without thinking about; as per normal. In my experiance playing as the rebels, the surist way to get the AI to build a Death Star is lay off!!! DO NOT HASSLE THE EMPIRE! Whilst this goes against game logic, it tends to work. Mix up what i've just said with a healthy dode of Cain's advice and dah! You can start to panic...
