  1. Baldur's Gate is a Bioware game (the best of Bioware's games) set in D&D's Forgotten Realms. You can find the Baldur's Gate Trilogy (Composed of Baldur's Gate[bGI] and its X-Pack Tales of the Sword Coast[TotSC], Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn[soa] and it's X-Pack Throne of Bhaal[ToB]). Before you wonder, it's called a Trilogy because of BGI, SoA, and ToB are different parts of the Trilogy, TotSC adds nothing but a dungeon. Graphically it may seem outdated, 2D, isometric view, but it beats the hell out of newer games in terms of storyline and addictive gameplay...
  2. You mean chronologically? I'm sure there's plenty of mentally younger members around... WELCOME CARRIE!
  3. WOO! I'll finally get to play the Dig. Yoda Stories was cool, if YS is there, Indy's Desktop Adventure probably are there as well... Click and download I must...
  4. I stumbled upon this shorty it's a mod that brings TIE Fighter to the XWA engine. It brought a smile to my face, to see it done. http://www.tftc.gaylenol.com/index.html Enjoy
  5. Aye... Third is prolly Igor, and from there J, Mask, LLF, Scath, SOCL (Not sure about the order though). (I'm surprise Thrawn hasn't made it past 2K yet... )
  6. You have many posts, mad, but you haven't caught up with me...
  7. 1000 is Ga, 1500 is warlord. FA was at 840, and Admiral something nearby. Actual ciphers should be in the 5th or 6th page of this topic.
  8. I still have to try'em out... But thanks, mad.
  9. Aye one of the best PC games ever, but as far as I know the one PS2 games of the series is Dark Alliance which isn't that much related to the BG Trilogy.
  10. Yep it was, actually I happen to own that same set (Yoda Stories rule!). And though I eventually bought JK I never got my hands on the Expansion.
  11. Annoying stuff, that will only get you on the mailing list of spam bots.
  12. Merry Christmas everyone!
  13. You can see Mon Mothma's back during one of the Senate scene, the scene with the begin of the Rebel Alliance will appear in the Episode III DVD.
  14. The actress who played young Mothma in Ep III is 28 years old, that plus another 20 years makes her in her late 40s by ROTJ, add another 25 years and she was in her 70s when she died. Rather young if you ask me.
  15. I'm still not buying that they got there. Anyway China has the most serious space program these days, the Europeans are aiming for the moon, but that's on the long run. And NASA... what's doing NASA these days anyway. They have to rethink much of their space program considering that their spaceshuttles are nearly obsolete.
  16. I have tried to look into some information about them, but have found little as to when and why they were build. Bamiyan (where they were located) was an important stop along the Silk Road and was a thriving Buddhist center with over ten monasteries and about a thousand monks. Surrounding the Buddhas in caves are frescos made by the monks, along with examples of chinese, and persian art.
  17. I'd still remain with the movie's POV. None is more powerful than the other.
  18. I use a little application called. DVD Region Free. The name's pretty selfexplicatory....
  19. I watched that one on Christmas...
  20. Most of the times it is a matter of point of view, from the Medieval Christian POV none of the other religions were 'worthy'. Thus they had not problems waging war and massacring them, thus the crusades and the almost complete erradication of autonomous religions in America (the continent), and even later in the subequatorian Africa. Religion and faith cannot be and should not be blamed for the political developments of this world. The problem is that there are alway world leadedr claiming that God is on their side.
  21. They can be found in the CD in the MDATA Folder. They are the files with the 101, etc extensions, the Music files are there also. For the music files you just need their extensions to be changed to WAV, for the Video Files you need the Bink and Smacker RAD Tools to convert them to avi, or some other playable format. Find the tools you need at Mask's site: http://kickme.to/woodsboro/
  22. The Coran is not all different from the bible, it was written down by man (inspired by divinity). This implies that some particular views are influenced by the time of it being written down. Thus Coran is influenced by the life of Muhammad. I would like to see some veritable source regarding the whole thing about Jews and Armaggeddon, as I don't see that one being true, more like propaganda to me. Considering that Jews, Christians and Muslim lived together for about a thousand years. Considering the timespan, Jews in Palestina could have been completely eliminated, long before the XIXth Century and the begin of European intromisions in Mideast. Also, it shouldn't be too surprising that one of Muhammad's wives was Christian. Islam draws elements from Christianity and Hebrew tradition into it. Jesus is considered a prophet by them, as is Abraham both significant figures in Christianty and Hebrew tradtitions respectively. Many Christian populations were converted to Islam early on, long before thehy were forced to by military power. And for a long time Jacobite Christians were allowed to retain their religion, in today's Libannon, Sudan and Ethiopia. Islam has always been seen through a distorted glass by the West. Christians have also pillaged and murdered thousands with no real purpose other than them revering another religion. (Think the Crusades and the Middle Ages). Jews have a long history of being enslaved and driven away essentially by all major world powers in history, from the Egyptians to the Romans to the XXth Century, both Christians and Muslims have recriminated and repudied them over the centuries. On a more anthropologic note, Islam is still a young religion, and it still must change a lot. Religion is yet to be separated from politics, but that's something that even Christianity didn't have 700 years ago. But the core beliefs are not too dissimilar from our own. Islam means submission, submission to God, more precisely. And many of their rites are meant to symbolize this submission. Islams has also transmuted as it has expanded into different regions, particularly Africa and Indonesia.
  23. There. No more tie... Long live Vader!
  24. As for the rites and ceremonies, for a person that is spiriturally linked to the ceremonies there can be no greater sense of communion than reviving myth through a rite. For a believer to (drink wine at church|fast during Ramadan|sit and medidate under a tree) can be a very interior spiritual moment that is strongly felt. For someone outside it might seem a weird thing, I for one cannot understand how people are closer to God by sititng once per week listening to an old man's lecture of what moral is, just as I cannot comprehend why fast all day and eat all night will bring you closer to God. But as an outsider I am only an observer and cannot feel whatever connection there is. Faith is not only at the core of Christianity, but to religion in general, or philosophy for all (would-be) Atheists. Faith is the autonomous reflex to believe that there is a greater purpose behind everything we do, did or will do, it is a common thing in all people. A god may as well be the result of humans shoving that belief to another entity that should be responsible for what happens. Faith is the result of the uncertainty of the future, if we knew exactly what would happen, as if it was an unerratical precise fact, there would be no need for hope. Faith is an attempt to assure ourselves that of all possible outcomes, that one we wish is the true one. Thus doubt -a very human thing- may lie behind the working of faith, as antidote to it. Faith can be a dangerous thing as well, as it must be balanced, not give in to a blind faith, but not be faithless. Shrugs. Faith is a very personal thing, as it is linked closely to every individual belief. Our lack (or not) thereof has us here tonight arguing about the existence of a greater power, that is doubt speaking for us. Science and Religion are expected not to walk hand in hand, one represents doubt that forces mankind to seek new knowledge, the other represents faith, that actions have a purpose no matter how hidden it is and that they will be revealed when it is necessary. Still I refuse to accept that both aspects cannot be united, I cannot dismiss the technical knowledge and science, I do admit that my current shape is the result of evolution. Spiritually I cannot dismiss the necessity of a greater power, I could claim that I have created a divinity in my image's likeness and attribute my faith to it. In the end though, I am left with the same questions there always are. I wonder what God believes in... God moves the player, the player moves the pawn, which god behind God starts the plot, of time and dust, of agonies and dreams. (A crappy translation of J.L. Borges's poem: Chess).
