I'm immediately reminded of the thopters and other aircraft in the DUNE series.

I think the main CSIS sensor stations are off to the North West and there's National Defense bases in the same direction, and off to the South East. To the South West where this was headed it's basically 'in the sticks' in that there are only a few small towns till you reach Toronto in that direction. It looked like it was decelerating but if it was a satelite in orbit it could have just looked like that from it's orbit curve. Does anyone know about orbits going against the Earth's direction of rotation? (Even if it was a Pole-to-Pole orbit that would still put it heading too far west. *Is stumped* )

I just can't resist telling this. This one time when I was driving home from college classes. (It was about 8pm in winter and no moon out so it was crazy dark.) I saw what I though to be a jet at high altitude. I've seen lots of jets and planes at night because the way I drive home is not too far off one of the approach corridors for Ottawa Internation Airport. I was driving roughly west when I saw the point of light up in the sky not quite straight up. It was headed west/southwest and looked to be descending, but it was moving way too fast to be a jet. I thought then that it might be a small meteor but there was no re-entry trail like on others I've seen over the years. I got off at the next freeway exit to see if any more of them would appear but no luck. I got sick of waiting in the cold (it was -15C) and went home. I still have no idea what it was. I considered that it might have been a satellite until I remembered that things put up into orbit go the other way arround the planet. Not really Alien life related but Unidentified. Flying. Object. related. EDIT: You're only supposed to have a maximum of 2 Redbull every 24 hours!

Just wondering something about the starfighters. Is the Laser Cannon power the total for that squadron, or for each ship in the squadron? For instance is the laser power mulitplied by number of fighters in the squadron. Or does the number of fighters per squad not have any real effect on that?

Argh. Either way i've mannaged to screw up both of my mods now. The load option only loads half of either mod and they're both inter mixed now. X_x Not good because the two are not ment to be compatible. My NJO Mod and Rebellion Starfighters Mod have been side tracked while I figure this out. EDIT: I've un-installed both copies and am going to use my files stored on the other computer to rebuild. At least I know 1 of the mods will work that way.

Russia doesn't have the economy for it, China on the other hand has an up and coming space program. With a moon shot planned sometime before 2020. The US could get to Mars by 2016 if they put that as a priority but they won't. 2018 is my earliest guess. (Yeah I know, kind of off topic.)

Build the Death Star, it's not just any piece of junk. The support it'll give you could hand the galaxy to you on a ...um ...baradium platter. (Wait isn't baradium an explosive? ) Anywho, you know you want a Death Star, you know you do.

I was wondering if it would be possible to install Rebellion on my computer a second time and have each copy with a separate version. Eg. 1 with standard setup for playing online and another with whatever Mod I was working on. Would I have to install a second copy of RebEd or what? (I haven't tested this yet, I keep forgetting.)

Who is your Favorite Sith Lord From The Star Wars Movies ?
Defender_16 replied to Saron2of4's topic in General Discussion
Maul and Dooku both throw their votes in with Palpatine, trumping Vader. Palpatine Wins -
When i was in elementary and even highschool I tened to lean more toward atheism and then later into agnostic-ism (sp?). But when I was in College I started to swing back to the more religious side of the spectrum. Not Christianity specifically but a general belief in God. I would still say I'm partially agnostic though because all of that schooling and information about the Universe I went out of my way to learn just doesn't go away. I've been sitting at a crossroads for the past few years. Wanting to believe in God but still loving the sciences I depend upon so much.

I had this happen to me but it didn't correct itself until I reinstalled the game.

Who is your Favorite Sith Lord From The Star Wars Movies ?
Defender_16 replied to Saron2of4's topic in General Discussion
Palpatine in Return of the Jedi was the embodyment of evil. EEEeeeevil The prequel Sith lord, though impressive, didn't quite match up. It wasn't due to the acting skill, which was better than most others in those movies. But the special effects and the makup made him feel more... ...Halloween mask-ish. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/superstring/SidMacCor3.jpg I dunno. The ROTJ Palpatine seems more hardcore somehow. -
New Jedi Order [s]Total Conversion[/s] MOD

DOUBLE POST! ...Seriously though it's been awhile so it's more of a bump. *BUMP* I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the galaxy backgrounp picture. I know somone said how to do it in some other post but I can't find it. I'm hoping to replace it with the NJO book interior map. Though this one is starting to look more interesting... http://www.supershadow.com/starwars/map.html EDIT: Never mind, I think I've got it figured out now. :wink:c EDIT 2: Lol. I know. I found your advice on this in an older post after searching longer. When I made this post originally the Forum was still slow. ( Uggh. 3 minute page load.) But the speed picked up today and I was able to find it. -
Who's stronger, Yoda or Emperor Palpatine?
Defender_16 replied to Darth_Rob's topic in General Discussion
Hmm... Ok. I never read the Young Jedi Knights series. That does seem out of place witht he rest of the stuff I've read over the years but then again the writers could have been forced by GL to re-invent how the force works again. Different writers have different ways of portraying things. This type of skill was never really used in the NJO books so I don't know as much about it as I might. If you could post some quotes that'd be cool. Even though it's now completely off topic. -
Who's stronger, Yoda or Emperor Palpatine?

What does Exar Kun Have to do with the discussion? Closing down one's force presence doesn't make you invisible to the force it just makes it seem as if you don't Draw on the force. ie. Not a force user. I was using the Jensaarai as an example because because they are roughly on par with Corran's skill. I didn't say anything about the Ancient dead Sith Lord, but if you wan't me to go into it... Yavin is full of life of all kinds that don't draw on the force like a jedi does. If Corran closes down his presence in the force he shows up as just another life form to the sort of low strength passive detection that Kun used to keep an eye on things when he wasn't busy. (Not 100% perfect, but effective.) ( He's awake! ) So, as the Jensaarai used the force to try and find him he appeared as just another human on the street. When he drew on the force durring a battle against Rogue Squadron though, the Jensaarai immedately detected him. Just they wern't powerfull enough to tell exactally where he was. Palpatine or Vader would have been powerfull enough to track down somone that had shown themselves or were actively using the force. ( Does anyone else think this is getting off topic? lol ) For the NJO stuff, I'm fairly certain it had something to do with the evil 1999 invention of Midichlorians. George Lucas invented them so that the Vong could be stripped of them by their living homeworld, rendering them invsible to the force. Which is stupid as far as I'm concerned. But it's GL's decision to make. ( You can pick up a Rock with the force. It's not alive! It doesn't have Midi-chlorians, but you can still pick it up. The Vong are almost a negateve to the Force as far as regular Jedi are concerned. The midi's just don't explain the whole thing adaquately. Lucas Books really dropped the ball on that one. ) I had best stop now. I'm getting Prequel-Rage. -
Who's stronger, Yoda or Emperor Palpatine?
Defender_16 replied to Darth_Rob's topic in General Discussion
I never said anything about Palpatine being half trained. ___________________________ Section Discussing Force Use in "I, Jedi" by Micheal Stackpole. *Possible Spoilers* The somewhat Jedi trained Corran Horn embarks on a quest to save his kidnapped wife. Jensaarai Force users are working with an Imperial Warlord/Pirate and are holding his wife. When he infiltrates their group he "closes down" his presence in the force so other force users cant detect him. This works well against the Jensaarai who are half-trained. As their training is not as extensive as that which a Jedi recieves. Even one taught by Luke Skywalker. This is a demonstration of hiding using force powers. It might then be possible for a master to hide their force presence as well. _____________________________________________________ Resuming Yoda vs Palpatine There are many ways that Yoda could have defeated Palpatine. Unfortunetely these would require that Yoda get killed in the process. The proverbial "Taking the hit" as it were. Sacrificing ones self to the Force, etc, etc. -
Actually I didn't really notice the upgraded Mon Cal Cruiser or Assault Frigate models. I was wondering if the Assault Frigate was going to remain as over-powered in Reloaded as it is in Rebellion? Able to match an ISDII in terms of straight weapons.

I am in awe. A-W-E of this you guys. I can't hink of anything else to say about this.

*Falls out of chair* *THUD* Holy cow! Wow.... just... wow. It's... wow. Did I mention Wow? --------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: I just saw a cloud yesterday that looked like a Mon Remonda / Battle Dragon Hybrid. It was very odd, but cool.

Who's stronger, Yoda or Emperor Palpatine?
Defender_16 replied to Darth_Rob's topic in General Discussion
Even in 'I, Jedi' Corran relied on closing down his force presence to reduce his detection. Mind you the people looking for him were only half trained in the ways of the force. Yoda using the Cave as a mask works in that he could remain using the force and not be detected because the 'dark' would essentially cancel out his 'light' making it seem as if nothing was there from most distances. In a fight to the death I think Yoda could win. In the situation he was in though he would be more valuable to the surviving Jedi alive. He could have killed Palaptine but he would have died in the process, no matter what way he used to win.
