  1. Yay! My internet is working again! .... ZOMG! I've been missing out on a SUPERWEAPON descussion?! A book that you'll find in the worst novels thread. I don't think it got worst but I'm fairly certain it was in the top 5. Deffinitely in the top 10 worst. You have done well to avoid it. (Actually it wasn't that bad, but *Spoiler* Luke falls in love with a ghost ok? That's bound to ruin any Star Wars book. Especially when you read it already knowing Luke and Mara get married. On to superweapons! The eye of Palpatine doesn't count despite it's plasma weapon... thing. I never really understood what it was. The missing X-Wing series super weapon that you guys have been trying to remember is the Pulsar Station which was never built. Between Darkhorse Comics and Kevin J Anderson there's enough superweapons floating arround for any ten sci-fi series.
  2. I must say I'm kind of underwhelmed. Though I must admit, it is kind of hypnotising. Only the bad guys try to kill people (The Heros of the movie) just like in the movie itself... just you happen to get in the way a lot. No it's not Cloud. He only uses his giant sword from Final Fantasy VII. I saw (what I think is) the same video in game but there were no lightsabers. Sorry guys. I don't think we have to worry about this happening Tofu. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/03/31
  3. I was just watching this Kingdom Hearts -GameStop Promo when I spotted something diffrient for those games. One of the guys has what looks like 2 red lightsabers! It's about 3/4 of the way through the video. (Does everybody wear black cloaks in this game? I swear I must have battled like 13 of these guys since I bought the game.) Oh and on another note: TRON! ZOMG!
  4. And here I was wondering what had seemed diffrient this week. The board almost seemed less... Spammish.
  5. Uugh. My local Newspaper get's me every year with their April fools. This year it was that the city was going to be putting in a commuter train linking the old downtown core with the up-town Mall(s). (Which we need because there's only 2 & 1/2 main streets those parts of town.) Last year's was that a whale had swum upriver and beached itself. Wow I never lived that one down. There was a diffrient ship in the logo? Aww... I missed it. My ISP yesterday: You have an internet connection... APRIL FOOLS! So, no internet yesterday.
  6. I think I preferred the blue... though it is a little easier to read now.
  7. Wow. Ok, I've been beat out for randomness by Mad's. And Apparently I'm William Shantner even though I got the DS9 swear wrong.
  8. I think this is fairly random. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_curse_words
  9. Been tring to figure it out for months. Using works for my sig in the other foums I''m part of but not here. Edit: Wooooooo.... I wonder why it worked that time and not from the main page when editing my profile?
  10. *Looks above* I HATE it when people do that. My dad did that one time when we were playing against each other. (In retaliation I changed the numbers on some of my un-named Destroyers into the hundred range.) Fleet 29 VSD: Red Gauntlet Imperial Star Destroyer 49 Imperial Star Destroyer 81 Imperial Star Destroyer 125 I'd sometimes change the numbers to those he hadn't seen before just to make him think I had a fleet that size. No! Not Solaris! I hated that movie!
  11. Was never a big fan of Temple of Doom. Though I always liked the part with the hat. Vader toy Vs. Cat http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~kuppem/esc.htm
  12. Playing the Imperials I only name Destroyers. (I end up building enough of them that I can't waste time naming smaller ships.) I use classic names from the movies first then progress into those from the X-wing and Thrawn books. As the Rebellion I name all Mon Cal Cruisers and any equal or heavier ship. Again I try to keep with names from the movies and books. Sometimes I'll name smaller rebel ships if a cool name comes to mind or if I remember an equivilant book name. If I can't come up with a name when it's being built I just go with the XWA ship designation and a number. I put class designation in front of most ship names so that I can more easily keep track of them. ISD: Devastator SSD: Executor SSD: Lusankya ISDII: Avenger ISD: Right to Rule VSDII: Corruptor CRS: Mon Remonda L/CRS: Liberty FRG: Redemption CRV: Tantive IV GUN: Loose Cannon etc, etc...
  13. I think GAT it about three hours drive from where I live.
  14. Happy Birthday! (For some reason you always strike me as being older than that.)
  15. I used to know exactly how that supercooling process caused that but I've forgotten it over the years. (Luckily someone has explained it below.) It's too bad we haven't found a superconductor that works at near room temperature. Just from that video it looked as if it took some damage from the liquid nitrogen. Cool. Breaking a water baloon in slow-mo. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/26648/a_water_baloon/
  16. He can. There's a probe droid watching all threads at all times just waiting... waiting...
  17. Still can't believe they replaced Boba Fett's voice in the DVD with the actor from EP.2.
  18. Hmm... Cycling vs Tennis... no wonder there was some confusion. (Are we going to see some swiss hillsides anytime soon? )
  19. Ouch! Owned... Both of them. Didn't expect the first one.
  20. I'm looking at my incredible cross sections book and I can see room for about 4 AT-AT barges on the ISD Devastator. You can only see the front of 2 of the barges and they don't look anything like those pictures from Force Commander. Infact they look just tall enough that an AT-AT could walk onboard it, though it's only wide enough for 1.
  21. My problem is, they send out their big fleet/armada from Coruscant to whatever area I'm winning in. When they get there they normally do battle with largest fleet I have built up at the time. (Or if I have enough warning, ALL of the fleets I have built up at the time.) Which means I totally kick their ass losing maybe a dreadnaught and some corvettes to knock down a couple of Star Destroyers. Then they never recover because I follow them back to their ship yards, which I take out with sabotage missions from orbit. I'd leave them their shipyards but I play on hard.
  22. Luke's first lightsaber is supposed to be blue. "This is your father's lightsaber. It was one of about fifty that the noob jedi student of mine dropped, lost, had taken away, or just plain broke. "
  23. 'It's only a flesh wound.' That is awesome. Didn't notice the speeder bike go by in the background until the third time. EDIT for the billionth time: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DVti1v-7yls&search=Star%20Wars Anyone seen this bloopers reel(s) before?
  24. At first when I read the title I took it as the 'Known Space' meaning for Flatlander. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatlander_%28Niven%29 It's fairly flat where I live but there's anough trees, forests, subdivisions, lakes, swamps... ridgelines... the river ridgeline... Nevermind it's not that flat where I live. http://www.canab.com/graphics/mainpages_graphics/music_awards/2004_profiles/LorneCardinal/thumbs/CornerGas01.jpg From the TV Show 'Corner Gas' Cop1: What are we doing? Cop2: Watching for speeders. Cop1: shouldn't we be closer to town then? Cop2: If we were closer to town people would see us!
  25. (Man my post is gone! *starts re-typing post*) I normally defend Coruscant with 4 Golan Platforms (if available) 4 ISD's and add 7 VSD's eventually. I'll also park the Executor and it's fleetgroup at coruscant when not on missions. For each ISD I'll have 2 Lancer Frigates, a carrack cruiser, and throw in some Carriers incase I need to evacuate some of my TIE forces. I'll put 1-2 rapid response fleets at secondary fallback positions made up of ISDII's and VSDII's should I need to strike at any blockade arround Coruscant. I put something on the order of 40 Tie squadrons on the ground, 12 stormtrooper reg, 9 darktrooper reg, and 12 miscelanious reg. And how often is Coruscant attacked? Never! Not once has the capital been attacked when employing this setup. The planets my rapid response fleets guard are attacked before Coruscant is. It's annoying.
