  1. lol- BEAK= Boring Explanations And Korrections. Yes, we all know that the word "corrections" doesn't start with a "K." That's part of the joke.
  2. Especially biology, we've noticed, because you still pursue the damn sasquatch....
  3. Don't you mean the DMV? Sorry; I tend to BEAK from time to time. (If you don't know what BEAKing is, just ask, and I'm sure SOCL or someone will explain the whole acronym and what it stands for to you.)
  4. That looks like a great program, Mad- thanks for the link! I'll definitely try it next! As the stuff encodes, is there any way to store it half in one place and half in another? For instance, half on one USB key, half on another?
  5. Heyo- he's fifteen! I'm no longer the youngest one on the forum! Happy birthday to you, Sharpeye. DarthTofu, 17, at your service. Prior to your arrival Mad78 and I were the two youngest members; now I'm a nice round two-and-a-half years older than the youngest member. Woohoo!
  6. lol- way ahead of you. I downloaded Handbrake months ago. Unfortunately it can't see Windows Media or Flash Video files, so it doesn't work too well. Supposedly it can get video data from DVDs, though- I just haven't been able to do that.
  7. Okay, so I think I (finally) figured out how to convert video files so that I can watch them on my iPod Nano. Yes, the one that some of you may remember I got for Christmas six months ago. The very same. Anyway, I think I finally figured out how to convert some dang video to fit on it- only one issue keeps popping up. I'm getting my videos off of the Real Player automatic download. It downloads them as Flash Video files. I'm having a hard time finding a good converter- I should be converting to MPEG4, right? The one I found seems to be working, but it's slow as can be (an hour of encoding for half an hour's video- which I had to watch before it could encode it) and I wanted to know if anyone knew of a better way to convert/a better converter. I took the first option that popped up on a Google search.
  8. Just finished watching National Treasure 2. I can't say that I recommend it- the movie wasn't as good as the first. It had some good laughs and some good action at parts, but it wasn't nearly as smart as the first one; there were fewer, stupider clues, and the central plot A) was never really resolved and B) was very, very weak. I still can't figure out how finding a city of gold proves that Ben's great great grandfather was a Civil War hero. It was okay, I guess, but not exactly distinctive. Puzzles were few, far between, and not very intelligent, like I said.
  9. I am writing this on an iPod touch at the Apple store. It's pretty freaking sweet. C Certainly beats my current phone, even if it isn't a real phone.
  10. Speaking of huge fleets of small ships- what's everyone's opinion on space battles? Do you prefer the battles that feature so many ships that it's all but impossible to keep track of everything, or the smaller battles with each individual ship identified and with a damage report? I really liked how Aalston did things with the Zsinj fleets, pointing out Serpent's Smile, Red Gauntlet, Iron First, etc. during the battle with Mon Remonda and Mon Delindo (sp?) and other New Republic ships. It creates a more dangerous sense, I guess, despite the fact that in a massive fleet battle any of a thousand ships could blow one or more ships up in a heart-beat with mass fire.
  11. Tell you what- is you do it first and can prove to me that it works, I'll totally hop on board, Sinister. Otherwise, I'd really rather not accidentally bork up my engine. @Eagle: I would continue growing out my hair, but as you can clearly see, half of it found its way to the floor of a local Supercuts. I didn't know that the job would suck as badly as it did (I didn't get the job description until that day), but I'm applying to a bunch of other jobs tomorrow. Picked up the applications today, filling them out tonight, hoping for the best in a few weeks.
  12. Did you use AutoCAD Inventor to make that gun? If so, I give you props. I could never make anything very good-looking in that program. I need to see if I can find my old stick man some time...
  13. @Eagle: I'm growing it back out ASAP. That job interview was pure crap- I could work anywhere from zero to forty hours a week doing hard, manual labor (lifting up to 75 pounds all day) until virtually whenever, and I had to be available to go in to work until 11 AM five days a week, working, as I said, until whenever. And, as the woman pointed out, there were 150 people ahead of me on the list of people to be called in. Pure. Stupid. Bull crap. The job description mentioned none of that. I'm applying at the humane society now to work with dogs. It's probably worth mentioning that I don't like dogs, and that dogs don't like me very much. Seven bucks an hour to pick up dog crap... Joy. Why must the economy suck so hard right now? @Rob: Your new cat is creepy! That thing has one green eye and one yellow! If that doesn't prove that it's Zoot-spawn, I dunno what does!
  14. That would just make the AI actually hard for once.
  15. In lack of decent randomness, I'll give you all a slight does of my real-life randomness. I have a job interview in a few hours, and to prepare for it I got a haircut. Some of you may remember that my hair was quite long when last you saw it- it only got longer. It was at my shoulders two days ago... and now- now it looks like this. Curse you, society! First my beard, now my hair! YOU CAN TAKE MY HAIR FOLLICLES, BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE MUH FREEDOM!
  16. I always sort of assumed that anyone who told me that Silence of the Lambs was one of the best movies ever was lying. Nobody lied. It is an awesome movie. It has made Anthony Hopkins my hero.
  17. Sexy avatars? Activate the Jahled signal! Get us some photoshopped ladies from the 501st, J!
  18. I don't like 'em. They're far too much of a display of power, and are inappropriate for the level-headed governments in place, now. There were only a handful made in the first place, and the vast majority of those were destroyed. We had the Guardian after the NJO, and (possibly) the Megador. Now there's a new one that was wantonly destroyed at the start of Invincible ( I'll forgive it since you didn't eff up the rest of the book, Denning), and they seem to be popping up a bit too much. It's put best in Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand: They just aren't worth the effort. Lusankya took up too much by way of resources, and so it was turned into a massive suicide-bombing ship. I say decommission the dang things and put 'em to work as parts in other destroyers. They tie up too much by way of personnel if they're going to be stocked fully- one ship is equal to, what, five ISDs in crew size? Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. How about the blaster improvements? How about the armor improvements, too? I'd sort of like to see some more acknowledgement of the blaster-stopping armor that we saw in Betrayal, as well as ridiculously powerful blasters like the ones in Invincible (Power blasters?) to counter that armor, as well as older weapons being used by the resistance and failing against it all. The Holocron was made during the NJO. James Lucendo mentioned using it for The Unifying Force. I think it was also available for his duology, but I don't know for sure.
  19. Call of Duty 3 is an awesome game. I'm really enjoying it, but that might be just because I haven't played very much by way of next gen game consoles/the most recent game I played before that on the PS2 was either Matrix: Path of Neo or Battlefront II. God, I've been trying to say that all freaking day. Stupid Internet refused to let me do it, though...
  20. I actually have a semi-plausible reason for the lack of B-wings. Look at the new XJ X-wings. They have a missile/torpedo capacity of nine over the original six. The E-wings carry sixteen proton torps. Fighters have become an excellent replacement for bombers, even the B-wing. These new ones can move quicker and carry plenty of missiles to blast the tar out of anything their superiors don't care for. What'd the B-wing carry? Eight proton torps? And it was fairly susceptible for fighters. This new way works better.
  21. Picked up and watched Team America: World Police today. Great, hilarious movie. Slightly dated, but it's still fantastic. I laughed my butt off at the movie itself and the special features.
  22. I just picked up a used copy of Call of Duty 3 for the PS2. Yes, I know it came out a year ago and that Call of Duty 4 is out now. But I'm cheap, it was ten bucks worth of store credit, and I generally like older games. I'll play it tomorrow. Right now... right now it's almost three AM. Let's here it for talking via E-mail for three hours straight starting at midnight! Woo!
  23. Ah, curses! The reply button wasn't working when I tried to beat Rob to the punch! Yes, he has presented the FSM to you. In short, the FSM is a parody diety. Bobby Henderson, an American, came up with the idea and created the Pastafarians. The whole idea is ridiculous, and includes its own theory of Intelligent Design that cannot be disproven, but is completely ridiculous. Henderson sent it to the Kansas State Board of Education, which had decided to include Intelligent Design in their educational curriculum, demanding that his version of ID be taught in the schools. Two members endoursed it, hoping to drive the rest of the group from their course on ID. It's since become a rallying parody religion for atheists, agnostics, and the nonreligious... and stupid people who actually believe in an almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster.
  24. Hillary will totally try for the VP spot. And you know what? She won't get it. The polls show that she's way too controversial. Go for Edwards, Obama!
  25. You liked The Crow? I guess it was alright, but the main character looked like a reject from Kiss with the makeup, and I didn't get what the deal was with his random guitar solo. It was a cool idea, sure, but Brandon Lee would have looked way cooler without the makeup. Also, I was a bit confused by the deal with the crow itself being shot- it didn't die, but it made Eric mortal again? What?
