  1. I meant to bring this up before, and I never did: What was the point of revealing that Jacen, Jaina, and Luke could all use the Shatterpoint technique? That made no difference in the end; Jacen used it to kill a Mando, Jaina trained with it.... and that was that. Really no reason for it to be there in the first place. I was a bit dissapointed in the lack of info on the Sith as well, but I think Millenium Falcon is being set up to cover that detail. Who's writing it again? Lucendo? He's a good author, knows what he's doing, by and large. He managed to do well with Unifying Force, in my opinion. I wish they'd let Stover write it, though, instead of his Shadows novel. This is totally his turf- examining people on the dark side and why they'd turn there!
  2. Yeah, but let's face it- it's primarily just uber geeks like us who know what Noghri are in the first place. It worked okay in Empire at War, because there was a ton of stuff from the original trilogy in there, plus enough references to other SW games, that fans would be content to not get it. If they became a major part of BFIII, it would be kinda confusing and exclusive for certain players. I see what you mean about the lack of class distinction, though. Maybe your specific class will have better abilities with those weapons? For instance, a trooper has a higher rate of fire and accuracy with his blaster rifle, while a shock trooper can lock onto targets with his bazooka thing, and a sniper can use the second zoom, or hold the rifle steadier, perhaps? Maybe there'll also be an addition of something like a stim pack; you know, like they used in Forces of Corruption, for Zahn soldiers? Or health refills that you can activate on your person, like in any FPS game? Those would be nice, just so that you feel a bit less like cannon fodder, I suppose.
  3. Oh, Vegas. Went there when I was ten and got kicked out for pointing out that the "decorative" mirrors in Caeser's Palace were positioned perfectly so that whoever was sitting at the "House" seat could see everyone else's cards at the Poker tables. Same went for the Blackjack tables. DOn't waste your money gambling over there, Rob- unless you've got the MIT Blackjack team on your side, odds are pretty low that you'll win big. Maybe stick a buck or five into some slot machines, just for the novelty of it, but leave it at that; if you go in with a spending limit (I will only spend twenty dollars on gambling and no more!) you'll be able to walk away regret-free. The Travel Channel supports me on this, man! Oh, and if you get kicked out of Caeser's Palace, take pictures- I want to see if they still have the same bone heads working security.
  4. Are you using "holidays" as the "vacation"-style "holidays" or as the "Christmas, Easter, Boxing Day"-style "holidays?" If we go with the former, I'm off to Atlanta come Monday, to visit Georgia Tech and to hang out with my older sister for a little while. Then, on the twenty-eighth, I'm taking off up north to New York. Gonna visit Rochester Institute of Technology, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Niagara Falls, and Pittsburgh over the course of a week, but not in that order.
  5. I counter that by sending out relatively low firepower fleets on exploration. As the Imps my exploration fleets usually consist of two ISD IIs and an SSD, all loaded up full of fighters and troops. I'll also stick a few troop transports in there; generally speaking, I like to bring along sixty troops for the express purpose of conquering enemy planets with zero diplomats in the fleet. Admittedly, it kinda annoys me how you can take control of a 100%-loyal-to-the-enemy planet if you just have an uprising occur on one planet belonging to the enemy. Liberate them, and two more uprisings start/neutral systems join. Liberate the next one and another uprising starts, etc. until that 100% loyal-to-the-enemy planet is no 95% loyal to you.
  6. Nice vids. Well, there goes my faith in humanity.
  7. I'm guessing that there will be more heros- but not traditional ones. The story mode will follow a special forces team, or something, and those units will be the best of the best in the grunt department. For instance, a 501st soldier will be a new option as opposed to the stormtrooper; he'll have more health, a better a blaster, and more stamina. I also hope there's the option of picking up weapons that you find on the ground; it'd be really nice to be able to take down a tank without having to run off and switch to the ARC or heavy trooper classes.
  8. vaguely, yes. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/DarthTofu/blendingin.jpg
  9. Isn't the new Indy game going to be out for PC? *Checks* Oh, son of a... er, gun! Indy's only gonna be on consoles?! Come on, guys! You can not leave us with Emperor's Tomb as our last Indy game! Fun though it was, it was a prelude to Temple of Doom! Temple of Doom, for pity's sake! After KotCS it was the worst Indy movie made! Granted, KotCS takes the cake on that and runs with it for a good continent's with worth of distance, but still.... Argh! Anybody excited about Fracture? I haven't read anything on it, but it certainly looks cool. Great soundtrack, at least.
  10. Hehehe- I forgot you'd been so absent from the forums since I was talking to you on Facebook, ya crazy bugger. As I've said before, I speak American English and a very very little bit of Spanish, and then a tad more of Latin. The only Italian words I remember are: Prego (Thank you), Ciao (Hello/goodbye), Focacia (freaking amazing bread), Pizza (... Yeah), Firenze (Florence), proscutto (sp? ham), and gillato (tasty-mass ice cream).
  11. Nice. My first game I assumed that, because I built massive fleets, the AI did, too. So I slapped Coruscant with three massive fleets at once, from all over the galaxy. Coruscant had: One SSD, three ISD IIs, maybe one VSD II, an ISD I, two interdictors, two Lancers, and about fifty squadrons of TIEs, mixed. I had something like five of every ship type available, except that I had a good thirty Dauntlesses, because I thought they were the most powerful ship the Rebels could build at the time. They just look so much deadlier than the Bulwark Battlecruisers!
  12. It might be announced- there are no certainties yet. But it seems pretty likely. I'm annoyed that it won't be out 'till March, though. I'll hardly have any time to mooch off of friends with consoles! Hell, Battlefront 4 will be out for the PS5 by the time I finally have time to play it!
  13. Psst, SOCL: I'm going into mechanical engineering, not ancient culture. I'm the only young non-history major on the site, remember? You said that a small college would have me missing out on some stuff that a larger college would grant me- were you talking programs? My first factor was whether or not the schools had engineering fields, dude.
  14. These are why I love the fine folks at the Discovery Channel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5BxymuiAxQ Edit: For once, American football beats European football.
  15. And som news for Matthew Stover fans: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Luke_Skywalker_and_the_Shadows_of_Mindor I'm not sure if I'm excited about this or not. Stover did great with the prequel trilogy, and he was awesome with Traitor.... but I don't know if he can work with Luke, Han, and Leia as much. All three are already very developed characters, and he has to jump back to when they were less developed to write this; I'm not sure whether or not this'll be one of his better works, just because of all the restrictions he'll face. I know I liked Aalston better when he got his own characters to play with instead of everyone else's. Hopefully this Sith Lord will be done well, though.
  16. *Vomits at mention of Zahn* Much as I love the concept of Thrawn, it was a brutally painful experience to read his "come-up-with-why-this-will-work-a-half-second-before-it's-implicated" bull. "I'm Thrawn, I just automatically know every tiny detail inexplicably; I'm never, ever even slightly wrong, and all members of one species will behave identically to one another!" I'd have liked to have seen Thrawn go up against an orphan with no artistic ability who felt isolated from his homeworld, refused to draw, and kept no art. Thrawn: Oh crap! Umm... turn to port! They'll never know what to do if we turn to port! Orphan: Open fire on the port side. Thrawn: Ah! Spast! Nooooooooooooo! *Reads title of thread* Oh, er, right. leave out my "you-executed-a-brilliant-idea-horribly" stuff, here... I kinda liked the Star by Star battle, but I feel like that's because it was only really appropriate for that engagement. The idea of literally thousands of ships duking it out over Coruscant makes sense- it's the capitol, with the most people on it, the government, and the most need for protection. Same goes for over Bastion and, later, over Mon Calamari. With other engagements, though, it'd just be home defense fleets/home defense starfighters and elements of whichever fleet groups were in the area. How many fleets were there in the end? Six? Those can be split up into smaller groups, obviously, but at least two fleet groups were always caught up in Coruscant's defense, which left four to police more than half the galaxy; consequentially there wouldn't be quite so many space battles where, looking up, one could almost nonchalantly watch a Star Destroyer flame out in the sky, knowing that there are a dozen more to take its place. I mean, heck, look at the Zsinj campaign! He had perhaps ten Star Destroyers in his fleet, counting Iron Fist, and that was plenty to cause the New Republic headaches, simply because they couldn't police everywhere. It makes sense to strike where your enemies are weakest, which means that engagements are less likely to be as epic.
  17. If you say so. My safety school is UF (If anybody wants to give me a dirty look: They consider a 3.5 weighted competitive. Seeing as I had a 4.45 last I checked, I can get in in my sleep), which is a large school, probably more to your liking, SOCL. It's, like, number one or two party school in the nation. My high school is pretty small already, and I like that. What sort of college opportunities do you think you missed out on because you were in a small school (besides parties)? @Tex: Oh, boy, have I been checking into co-op programs. Good advice, all the same. I'm actually considering the University of Delaware right now, because they're getting so many grants in alternative energy stuff... 'cept then I noticed that it was all for chemical engineering majors.
  18. OOC: I resent the implication that I bite people. I don't deny it, but all the same I resent it. Seeing as I didn't get to introduce Reth, I may as well do so. Those of you with ridiculously good memories may recall that he led Blackmoon Squadron in Rebel Stand. For those of you who don't have ridiculously good memories: He led Blackmoon Squadron in Rebel Stand. He went into a nervous breakdown a little while before the big battle (Operation Emperor's Spear), and was never seen in the EU again. Now he's off on a hospital on Borleias, built specifically for war-striken ex-soldiers. Dishonorably discharged, he's a wreck, and chok-full of paranoia. Shooting stars are orbital bombardments, and anything that flies just wants to shoot him down. Capital ships are all the Lusankya, left to age and die because of the incompetency of Antilles. He's slowly recovering with the staff alongside a number of other veterans who were knocked out of service; those who are still in shock from watching the destruction of their homes (Ithorians), those who are still in a state of shock similar to that of Myn Donos, having been the only survivors of decimated squadrons and groups (See Wraith Squadron, or else look up "Talon Squadron" on the Wookie), etc. I'm certainly willing to let other folks plod around in the hospital, as it's rather expansive; my only condition is that anything drastic (IE Blowing up a whole wing, killing the staff, meeting up with Reth) be talked over with me via PMs first. I don't intend for my story arc to be tremendously excited; while the rest of the galaxy is breaking apart more and more, this is going to be the story of Reth's slow, painful recovery.
  19. Engineering. I'm looking into doing work in the automotive field, with an emphasis on alternative energy. If I could get a job working on better hydrogen fuel cell cars, it would be a dream come true... despite the fact that my experience working with cars is relatively limited. I figure that's what college is for, you know? Other people are free to post in this thread, by the way. I feel like I'm spamming with just Rob and me in here. (Not that spamming has ever stopped me from making a lot of posts in the past, but still)
  20. lol- so I've been warned. I'm looking at schools up north in the rust belt, but right now I think my top school is Georgia Tech. I'm visiting Tech some time in the next two weeks, and I'll see if it's as good as the books and other people say it is. Call me nuts, but I don't want to stay in-state when I go to college. I'm interested in getting out and seeing the world as much as possible.
  21. Umm, yeah.... Cornell is also in NY, I'm pretty sure... why do you ask?
  22. Nope. I haven't the foggiest. Is it supposed to be Latin? "Res" would be "matter," but I've never heard the words "luk" or "ra'auf." I don't even know if there are apostrophes in Latin, to be honest. The primary reason I'm at the top of my class in Latin II is because the bottom of my class is retarded.
  23. I love the end. "That was terrible!" "That was awful!" "I'm offended!" "Well what are we gonna do?" "What else? E-mail it everyone we know." "Oh."
  24. Yakown Reth did not recognize the world around him. He sat in a chair. It was a comfortable enough chair, with padding in all of the proper places for a human. It had been designed, as all of the furniture in the room had, to look very much machine-made. It had organic lines to it, none of the military precision these men had seen while in active duty, but there was a certain fakeness to those organic lines, completely unlike anything the Yuuzhan Vong would have created. Reth wasn't alone, but he felt like it. His chair was set within a small cubicle; the cubicle contained a bed and refresher, but no real privacy. Identical cubes flanked his, and still more cubes flanked those. The architecture was mirrored on the other side, with ten cubes to a wall, and twenty to a room. To a ward. Reth was, ironically enough, on Borlieas, the very planet that had driven him to his breakdown in the first place. He wasn't outside right now, and he was enjoying better meals than he'd eaten nearly ten years ago during the campaign, that was for sure... but it was still Borleias. Sometimes, late at night, on the rare occasions where the staff would let him go for a walk, Reth would look up at the stars and watch a few of them fall toward him. Half of his mind knew that they were just rubbish burning up in the atmosphere, but the other half still saw them as Yuuzhan Vong coralskippers diving down toward the Biotics Facility. That big burning mass up above was Lusankya, destroyed with ease because of General Antilles's inability to command properly, and they were all going to die, and his second in command was dead, hadn't listened to him, and... There was a reason they didn't let Reth go for walks very often. He leaned back in his comfortable chair and closed his eyes to the world he didn't see in the first place. It was almost noon. The nurse would be along with his lunch, soon. He hoped she'd brought nerf steak; it was so much better than the local tin fruit, after all.
