How and why in the blazes did you know all of that?
-
For my two bits worth, I'm going to go with this: The rule of two is just plain stupid. Lucas based some of episode three on the books (IE the use of Kashyyyk... And... um... something else, I'm sure). Anyway, C'abaoth kind of breaks the rule of two, even if he is sort of a rogue Sith out there. I think it would've been awesome if Palpatine was a playe' with all the appretises! Okay, that sounded wrong, I guess... Also, supposedly in the Timothy Zhan novels, The Emperor leaves behind a Dark Jedi on Wayland to hide his vault of very nice stuff that would easily have turned the tide a long time ago if the Emperor had used them. So this basically blows the rule of two out the window, in my opinion. Maul had way cooler saber battles and stuff, and would have been all the more awesome if he cut off whiny Anakin's arm in Ep. II.

HELP!How can I destroy the defense facility?
DarthTofu replied to no23op57's question in Questions from Newbies
Umm, are you talking troops or fighters? Because, as has already been established, bombers help with orbital bombardments. Ground troops with higher bombardment ratings are just hard as heck to kill, meaning that the planet is more likely to take colateral damage since you have to beat the crap out of the troops you keep dodging fire or whatever. -
Can't say that I disagree... I just had a bad experiance as the Empire trying desperately to repel Rebel attacks on the "hard" level that layed waste to three or four of my star destroyers before I could do squat . Then the bastardds took Corouscant and I had to flee to a sector that-wouldn't ya know it- they found me in. Which left me with about five loyal characters.
-
No no, I'm talking about alot of things: For instance, when you're the Rebels, you can take your base and run and hide with it (Can't do that with the Empire). You also get way more diplomats, and fewer traitors (Empire has great commanders, but terrible diplomats). Waiting for Luke to reach jedi Knighthood is annoying, but eventually it gets good, and you can train him uber strong over Corouscant. Also, the Rebels get the Dauntles Cruiser, which, in addition to being able to take on any Imp ship from Imp. Star II down, takes far less time to build than, say, a Death Star, or a Super Star Destroyer. Though SSDs are very nice.

I see... I tend to flip flop on both sides, seeing as the Rebel Alliance tends to be easier Anyway, yeah, TIE fighters suck unless you upgrade to intercepter and such. So it doesn't make a differance if you have ships coming in from all over the place to attack a different ship, eh? Darn. I was hoping to be the next Grand Admiral Thrawn... Well, not exactly, seeing as there's a Grand Admiral Thrawn on the forums and all, more like the one Timothy Zahn wrote about. Okay, that was pointless.

I'm pretty sure that someone would have hacked the source codes a long time ago if it weren't for one small issue: It's illeagle. Still, I agree, Lucas should just give up already. The game was a flop, the technology is ancient, and nobody is selling it any more! There are, like, one hundred people out there that still know it exists, let alone play it!
-
Yeah... Alrighty, then, folks- you know what that means! Take out your programing skills and get to work hacking the source codes for Rebellion! Just kiddding. Seriously, I am! no, Mr. Lucas! Don't come any closer! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! (Proceeds to be hit over the head with a small lead model of R2-D2 by George Lucas, who is, as a last request, signing an autograph to me at the same time.)

Don't remember that quote... Though it probablu was Stackpole, seeing as most of the other books that mention Wedge involve something along the lines of "Luke: Wedge, we need you and your squadron to help provide cover in this Imperial area! Wedge: Sure thing, Luke, we'll be right on it!"

Conquered All With Alliance & Cant Find Vader & Empe
DarthTofu replied to heathxxx's question in Questions from Newbies
Maybe... Or maybe Rebellion Reloaded can, though i don't think those guys can do it without the source codes, or whatever they're called. My hat goes of to you, amigos! -
I'm trying to get an avatar up, too, but i can't seem to get it to work. i hosted it on the site that you said to and got as far in as it would let me, but the site just won't accept it. Currently, I have this link: http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tofu0mx.jpg Not the link I want, but I can't seem to get the photoshop image that I made to come in, so... As Jar Jar would say "Any help 'ere woul' be ho'!" And as i would make him say "No! please be puttin' down the blasta', mista'. Mesa no wanna die! Messa no wanna-" and then I shoot him. but that's besides the point.

LOL. Basically I tend to have a hyge flaw due to my lack of good tactics. I just mass up a huge fleet and then progressively kill the galaxy of all IM presence with no fleets left behind or opperating in tango. But the real question is if the whole "Hammer, anvil, left/right hook" thing will help to hurt enemy ships. For instance, if I have a ship on either side of a more powerful ship, will that cause it to fire on both, but with less firepower than if it were only shooting at one of them? Just wondering... It always somewhat dissapoints me after reading stackpole with his increadible tactics and then not being able to use them. LOL, how great would it be if you could get firing solutions from X-wings and TIEs to slay a cruiser at fifty klicks?
-
Currently, when i lead ships into battle, it's just so that I can take some losses but keep them from running away in far worse shape (IE, from attacking the most powerful two ships simultaneously with two victory class star destroyers). Anyway, what are some good tactics to employ? Things like the hammer, the anvil, and the left and right hooks always seem to make my ships take more damage while they dish less out.

Dude, if you want an RPG like that, get The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind from Bethesda. It is one of the greatest RPGs ever and let's you do pretty much all of that, except you have to stay on the planet... And use swords... And be annoyed by wood elves. But aside from that it's awesome. or, if you patient, you can get The Elder Scroll IV Oblivion later this year. Anyway, two great RPG games on a real-time-strategy-game website. Wee!

How 'bout Galactic Superpowers? Okay, yeah, that's kinda stolen from "World Suerpowers", an ancient text game that I have yet to play (People keep killing me for drinking coffee while a volcanoe erupts-?). I'd also submit "The Final War" possibly. Yeah, it's over dramatic, I know. Just a suggestion.

A strong standard Fleet: What Ships?
DarthTofu replied to Freddie_Mercury's question in Questions from Newbies
One ship that, in my extensive skimming of this topic, I didn't notice, was the interdictor cruiser. Those things pack a good punch against starfighters, and with those gravity wells, they help to ensure that those Rebel pansies won't run away! They tend to be the first ships attacked so that the Rebels can run away, but if you have enough power inyour fleet, it shouldn't be an issue. -
Oh. So I already got traitors when I started out, then (The Rebels held about four planets in Sesswenna and I held another three with the remaining three being neutral).
-
The traitors thing is true, but I'm rooting them out fast thanks to Vader and two Jedi trainees that were later traitors themselves... here's a question- if one of your jedi is a traiter, will they tell you that a loyal character is a traiter? That'd suck.

I am sorry but I find that highly unlikely. I am not calling you a liar or anything dont take what I say in that way. I am just saying I think your mistaken. For instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Plagueis There is no mention of Plagueis being Sifo Dyas. Also http://www.answers.com/topic/darth-plagueis which also mentions that Plagueis was Palpatine's master. The official Star Wars databank hasnt been updated yet to reflect some of the new info we learned in Ep3, but I have a feeling it will be reflected from what was written on these sites. The problem with your assertion that Plagueis = Sifo Dyas and ordered the clone army, is that this must have happened shortly after or before Palpatine ordered the Trade Federation to occupy Naboo. The problem is continuity, how then was Darth Maul a Sith Lord? I find it highly unlikely Plagueis would have allowed Palpatine to take on apprentice since this violates the rule of two that the Sith had been following. For your version to work, the rule of two has to be violated as well as now we are forced to somehow think up a way that Palpatine trained Maul. Its been officially listed that Maul had been trained from a very young age by Palpatine to become a Sith Lord. To me that indicates that Palpatine had done away with Plagueis long long long before the events of The Phantom Menace. The clone army was ordered, what, sixteen years in advance? As you've said before, what is Palpy saw his masters notes on this plan and ordered the army later on for when it would be needed? Also, who knows how fast Zabrach develope? The horn-heads might become older in about half the time it would take a human to. Thus, it technically is a very young age. Also, reguardless of everything else, i still think I have some support from order sixty-six. A Jedi Master just plain wouldn't have entered a command into his troops that they should kill the jedi. And (don't quote me here, because I forget where the hell it was, and it could be my imagination acting up again) I think I remember something saying that the clones were given all of their orders when they were trained in the clone-accademy-place. So, then, how would Palpatine know about order sixty-six unless he implemented it into the clones. Or it could just be that he gave them the order based on his position as Supreme Chancelor of the Republic.
-
Okay, here's the deal. I chose to be the Empire against a hard alliance, and reguardless of what I do, they keep kicking my btt. They have control of the whole Sesswenna sector. When I retreated to a different one, somehow they knew where I was right away! They sent very poweful forces and obliterated my defenses before they were stupid and stayed in orbit around one of my planet with some sabatoging characters in which I blew them up (The idiots). So anyway, how did the Rebels find me so fast? Is that just part of the "hard level" that they automatically know where planets that they shouldn't know about are? Currently i have several characters running to a new system, hopefully without Mon Calamari yipping at their heels. Who knows, maybe i can find a neutral planet with a shipyard and pursuade them to like me? I have some diplomats, espionage/sabatoging characters and some stormtroopers/fleet regiments. So, anything I can do except pray that they don't find me and try to beef up defenses?
-
Oh... Guess I should have thought that out. (Bangs head against wall)
-
Okay, Plaugeis was Seiphodeas. See, Seiphodeas was one of the fallen twenty-one (As according to "Star Wars: Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith). Seifodeas ordered the clone army in the first place and implanted his dirty little "order sixty-six" in them so that he could kill the Jedi off. Then Palpy became his apprentise, found out about the power, and killed Plaugeis/ Seiphodeas because he feared his power. Some of this is theoretical, but think about it- if the clones were created by a good Jedi to assisst in a forseen war, he probably wouldn't have implanted order sixty-six (What with him not wanting to kill them, and all)
-
I did... Didn't you get the E-mail?
-
I've done it before- they all arrive at the same time- the Admiral, commander, and General with the most leadership/battle points get to be the leaders of the fleet.
-
huh... that was supposed to be invisible at the end. Damn.
