  1. Which came first- Rebellion or the books? When did Bantam hand out the reigns to start making Star Wars books? I recall the X-wing books speaking of Imperial-II and Victory-II class Star Destroyers, and then never seeing anyone else refer to them, which suggests that nobody else really bothered to check the same source for info on their SDs to me. Rebellion came out in '98... when were the book deals? '92? I guess you're right... Then again, I'm not so sure about that year 1992 off the top of my head.

  3. Rob, we're leaving the Eagle as our national symbol. We are not replacing it with a Sasquatch!
  4. Yeah, and you got... oh, yes: zero votes. Unless you decided to make yourself a write-in candidate when you voted. For what it's worth, if I were eighteen, I would totally feel guilty about voting for Obama if you were on the Republican ticket.
  5. He could have gone with Charlie Christ, the governor of my home state of Florida, but nooooooo, he just had to go with Palin, didn't he? There are a number of bumper stickers that are gaining in popularity down here that read "McSame Failin, '08." I kinda want to get one... then again, according to a recent test that I took, I have 78% of my views in common with Ralph Nader, so that's probably why... I'm a little too big on social issues for my own good.
  6. That was fantastic, Eagle! Hahahaha! "For those of you playing a drinking game at home- maverick!"
  7. Going by my own experience, nope- doesn't work. If you send in more teams, you have better chances of success, but who is on the team, what their stats are, etc. hold a bearing- how many other missions are going on at the same time do not.
  8. Holy crap- you managed to figure this game out without the manual?!? I tried to play a game without the manual... and promptly wondered why the hell my Longprobe Y-wings couldn't take any of the Imperial ships on, and why I couldn't move troops to other planets to colonize them without any ships. It confused the heck out of me, but after reading the entire manual (yes, I read the entire manual, cover-to-cover) I figured out what I was doing and started enjoying the game more. If you have any questions, feel free to ask 'em here and we'll answer to the best of our abilities.... I really need to get my copy of Rebellion back from my friend.
  9. Warning: Spoilers Abound! I finally got to play some. As we'd heard, Bringing Down a Star Destroyer is quite possibly the most annoying thing ever. The way the TIEs keep coming at you, and the difficulty of killing them with Force Lightning... it makes for a very, very annoying level. That being said, it's a ton of fun to chuck stormies about with force powers. The final level (Death Star) is great. Dashing about to dodge the superlaser is a pain in the arse, but grabbing an Imperial officer with the Force and holding him in the path of the laser has to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. Nothing like hearing him yell, "Put me down! Put me down!" and then watching him get blown away by the beam.
  10. I never saw Hero. I wish I had. I bought Shoot 'Em Up the other day.... and subsequently forgot it at my friend's house. I have a bad habit of forgetting stuff that I buy if I don't leave it in my car. Still- I love that movie. It has some great lines mixed in with the senseless violence: "Eat your vegetables." "**** you, you ****ing ****ers!" "Talk about dropping your load!" "You know what I hate?"
  11. Chiaustralia?
  12. Woah, Gonzo- long time no see, man! Ah, and no. You get no bonus for a general during a bombardment- you get a bonus for the admiral and, if you have bombers, the commander. General doesn't factor into it.
  13. Palin's... well.... a "bad pick" for lack of a better term. I know die-hard Republicans who hate her. More than anything else, she appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to reach out to Hillary supporters that is failing miserably. Palin is a beauty queen who doesn't get the issues and doesn't relate to the people like she pretends to. She had cookie-cutter answers for all of the questions (Which, if you paid attention, tended to be the same answers, just reused for different questions), and didn't come across as very intelligent at all.

  18. You can catch all of the cutscenes on YouTube. I watched the nearly hour-long set of cutscenes, and I must admit- they did a fantastic job with the story and the animation. I loved every second of it! I hear gameplay is a bit weak (it's "redundant" killing the stormies, though most reviewers admit that it's beautiful redundancy, and that you don't really get too annoyed or bored with it), but the cutscenes can more than make up for it. Maybe you should wait to buy a copy, but I have to say- it looks like ace materiel to me!
  19. I read the comic... I know what happens to poor 'ol Starkiller... but I'll refrain from saying anything further. Haven't gotten a chance to play it, but I may be a nice guy and pay half of the cost of the game for a system that a friend owns... and then haunt that friend's hosue until I've beaten the game to a lovely pulp of Star Warsy goodness.

  22. Imperial March on a Floppy Disk
  23. I don't know about the second one, but the first one can be inaccurate. I know this, because after I arrive at a planet that I espionaged some time ago,it will often show an enemy character en route to the planet through hyperspace, even after a fleet arrives. The character may have arrived days ago, but their status still shows up as "en route." Failed missions do update data, but I don't know by how much. I know that it only updates true data, though. It'd be sweet if you could produce disinformation when you were playing- convince your enemy that Luke was on some crap planet, then ambush whatever fleet arrives to grab him, right?
  24. *Glares at Eagle* You know, the sad part is that that little toy car probably has about as much pickup as my real one. How much are those things looking like they'll go for? Personally, I don't think I'll need a car in college, so that works to my advantage- if I don't drive for four years and all of this nice new tech comes out, it'll be nice and old and field tested by the time I'm out of college. I can make my first car a used, all-electric car that's proven itself, pick it up for a song, and hopefully have low energy costs when it comes to driving about. Especially if we upgrade to nuclear power (Which I sincerely hope we do).
  25. lol- nobody younger than sixteen remembers that show anymore! I felt so old when I was talking about it the other day and the young'ins (STFU, Tex) didn't know what I was talking about. I was comparing chromosomes to the Legends of the Hidden Temple Pendants of Life. I was like, "You know how you'd always see the Silver Snakes running in with a Pendant of Life and a half a Pendant of Life? And the half of a Pendant of Life was totally worthless, remember? That's what it's like with X and Y chromosomes. See, an X chromosome is half a Pendant of Avoid Logic. Y Chromosome- it isn't anything. You need two X chromosomes to have a full Pendant of Avoid Logic, so only women get that privilege." And then only half of the people at the Latin event got it! I was highly disappointed. If SOCL were here he'd probably be talking about how old he feels- he kept saying how old he felt when he realized that I was in Elementary School during 9/11.
