What are people's 5 ESSENTIAL wants for Reb2?
Darth_Rob replied to Chimera's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
Now that would be really cool. Vader and Luke overthrow the Emperor and take over command of the galaxy, and then turn their attention to reuniting the family. But that would be very complicated for the game. My thoughts are to keep it simple. If Luke loses, he becomes an Imperial character. The Empire player can control him, and Luke would keep his stats. Likewise for Vader joining the Rebels. To throw in the dethroning of Palpatine and replacing Palpy with Vader, and Vader with Luke, would probabally be a lot of work on the programming end. It would be cool, thats for sure. It would really keep with the "What If.." of the Star Wars universe. -
True, but the Outer Rim is an extremely vital part of the game. You need to colonize the Outer Rim sectors to produce more mines and refineries so you can build up massive fleets with SSDs and the dreaded Death Star!!!

I still think it would be sweet to elaborate on the final confrontation between Luke and Vader. I think that the loser of that battle should "switch sides". Vader would return to the light side, or Luke would be turned to the dark side. It worked in the Star Wars CCG, and I think it would be so great in Rebellion. -
HELP!How can I destroy the defense facility?
Darth_Rob replied to no23op57's question in Questions from Newbies
Just make sure that your Death Star fleet has ALOT of fighters. I always have my Death Star Squad with a SSD, a few ISD II, and an Interdictor Cruiser. This allows for a huge fighter capacity, which I always keep full. And be wary of using the superlaser to destroy a system...it affects the entire galaxy, not just that particular sector. -
I blockade the planet of my choice with three combat/espionage characters aboard my fleet. I use them to sabotage any planetary defenses (1 mission, 1 decoy, the third a backup incase one of the others is captured). After the defenses are down, I use military bombardment to destroy the troops. If the troops are two or less, I sabotage them instead of bombardment.

About two weeks before RS came out, I made a CD with all these crazy Star Wars related songs on it. It had the Gangsta Rap, and Weird Al's Yoda, Pretty Fly For A Jedi, Livin La Vida Yoda, The Saga Begins, and a bunch more. It got me all geared up for the movie.

I never use those that blasted droid. I maintain points by gaining new planets. Once I have enough planets taken over where I have decent fleets and everything else is okay, then I begin to do the mine/refinery work myself. But I never, EVER use droids to handle my work.

Favorite Star Wars Television Reference

Sorry bout that. I found one a tad smaller... -
I definetly agree. It is such a strong story, where Tolkien allows you to really connect with his characters and their world. I also agree with your description of Gandalf. For a wizard, he less magic than would be expected. His demeanor was strong enough to get his point across to allies as well as to hinder foes.

I am quite happy with the current color scheme. I also have no problem with the current text size. But I will support any changes that everyone else might prefer.

If you are referring to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, its on Cartoon Networks Adult Swim. Im not sure of the usual times. You can also buy the show on DVD box set. -
There really isnt a way to make them fire faster. If anything, maybe if you used RebEd, you can alter the capital ships and give them more turbolasers and lasers. Maybe if they have more, they will fire faster...

The point of having a fighter with hyperspace capabilites is that, for example, you have 6 fighters stationed at a planet. Suddenly, a huge fleet of enemey ships enters the system. The 6 fighters could retreat to your nearest system, thus saving them. If the fighters had no hyperdrive, they would be totalled without a chance of saving them. As for the confirmed move, it tells you exactly how long it will take the target to get to the next system, so you know ahead of time.

My thought is that those alien advisors were simply being used by Palpatine. He was able to move up through the Republic's political system by using any support he could muster. But once the Emperor consolidated his Empire, he might have gotten rid of all the aliens whom he may have deemed inferior.

What I say to all this Lucas VS EU is this: Star Wars was created by George Lucas. He had this vision for an amazing story of a fallen father whose son helps to redeem him for the "next life". Lucas created great characters, great ships, in short, a great universe. I love the OT, and even though I have some qualms about Episodes 1 & 2, I love them as well. Lucas is a genious. However, you cannot attack the EU, saying it contradicts Lucas's films. As far as I'm aware, Lucas signs off on the EU stuff. I remember when I was playing the Star Wars CCG, all the cards created for the game had to be approved by Lucas. The game took nameless characters who were present in the movie for one second, and gave them a name, and a history. I'm sure that you all remember the "Hammerhead: from ANH? Well, I believe that Decipher (Star Wars CCG creator) took him, named him Momaw Nadon, and gave a brief history on him. Later, he appeared in one of Kevin J. Anderson's short stories as Momaw Nadon. And later, as new action figues were released from the OT, the name went from Hammerhead to Momaw Nadon. My point is that Lucas allows the EU to exist. He cannot possibly keep expanding a universe that has such a huge fan base. That's why many other writers delve into the EU via books, games, etc. You cannot dismiss anything from EU, claiming that it contradicts Lucas' movies. Lucas was the one who allowed the EU in the first place, and for good reason. I just feel that Lucas and his people should have researched a little more, to make sure the prequels did not contradict the EU. Because even though Lucas is the sole creator of the Star Wars universe, he allows the EU to continue and thrive, and since the EU was created before the prequels, he should have made sure that his new films did not contradict the EU. I'm simply saying that to throw out anything the EU creates just because it contradicts Lucas' films is ludacris.

I think the neutral systems should have troops and a small defense fleet. Definetly troops. Any government has an army, and would fight back any assult by the Rebellion or the Empire. Maybe make a generic unit called "planetary army" or something to that affect. Nothing overly powerful or anything, just a normal army that actually has a detection value. Its so inconceivable that you can send sabotage missions to neutral systems, blow up their facilities or defenses (to gain combat rating), and not be stopped. -
[quote="Skynxnex When you look at it, its really hard to see for certain that the Empire is in fact xenophobic. I believe that the Empire was in fact xenophobic. For one, in ANH, Tarkin mentions the Emperor's "New Order". The New Order was, in fact, a completely blatant racist attack (politically) on aliens. Secondly, there is not one alien Imperial ever in the OT, but the rebel alliance has some in ROJ, when the Rebellion gets big enough.

Success of Assassinations vs Abductions...?
Darth_Rob replied to Darth_Gonzo's question in Questions from Newbies
Its just too much work sometimes to assassinate Rebels. I just abduct. Occassionally, you'll get lucky and the character will die during an abduction mission. I was playing as the Rebels one time, and Han Solo must have killed 5 characters in that way. I laughed. -
First and foremost: NEVER USE TIE BOMBERS!!!! I agree with the Grand Moff. I always have one system in each each sector devoted to each facility. I never bother with defensive lasers, just a Gen-Core on some of the key planets, and once the ball gets rolling, TIE intercepters at each planet (6-10 per planet). And always, always have an Interdictor Cruiser present in each fleet! It stops Rebels from escaping their cruel fate!

Success of Assassinations vs Abductions...?
Darth_Rob replied to Darth_Gonzo's question in Questions from Newbies
I never bother with assassination missions. I just abduct the bums and send them off to my spice-mining prison complex-some God-forsaken rock in the Outer Rim, chock full of dark troopers and TIEs! -
Hey, does anyone agree with me that Leia is to powerful in Rebellion? If Im playing as the Rebels (which I actually, on the rare occasion), once Luke returns from Dagobah, I have him B-line to Leia, so she can learn the ways of the Force. I then have the two of them head out and do whatever, until I find the Emperor (usually Coruscant). I then take out the ships, defenses, and troops, and then have Luke and Leia do constant missions to the planet so that they can engage and injur the Emperor. My complaint is that once I started this process w/ just Leia there, and the first attempt (mind you, her combat was still fairly low), she was able to injur the Emperor! I couldn't believe it! There is no way that Princess Leia could possibly stand up to the Emperor, espicially without having had any Jedi training. I couldn't get over it. That's one major disadvantage to playing the Empire: Luke and Leia could own Vader and Palpatine so easily by doing cheap tricks like this.

That would be too much coincidence. Its already weird enough that Darth Vader was the father of two of the Rebellions leaders (without knowing it). To throw Palpatine in as the grandfather is just waaaaaaay to much a coincidence. I think Lucas was just making Anakin conceived by the force to be a mystical thing to show that he would bring balance to the force. In retrospect, we know that Anakin was not the one the profecy spoke of. Who was it? I kind of remember it being Anakin Solo...

As the Empire I always build up all my fleets with TIE Intercepters. The only Defenders I have are on Coruscaunt, as defense. I only use Fighters until the Intercepter is "invented". I never touch Bombers. As the Rebels, I use a mix of X and A-wings. I never build Y-Wings, and only a few fleets have some B-wing support, depending on the galactic situation.

I highly recommend ebay. I have used it since 2002, and have never, ever had a problem. I buy and sell, so I've worked both sides of the site, and I have never lost faith in it. And I have seen Rebellion on there frequently.
