  1. I was thinking...it would be possible to create a Death Star model in Rebellion, wouldn't it? Pump up the shields, give it an ungodly number of turbolasers with a really slow reload time, then sick it in an actual battle vs. the Yuuzhan Vong ships that Mad made for D16. I suppose you wouldn't need the model though--any ship would do. I just wonder what you'd need to do to the reload timer in order to simulate the DS superlaser.
  2. The MDATA folder is about 395mb by itself, so thats the bulk of it. We have to transfer it over because of the new movies. Alsprite and Emsprite are about 96mbs each because of the new voice acting, with Albrief and Alsprite being about 30mbs each for the same reason. I'll look into foldershare to see if it works with my uni's firewall. I know its huge, but this is the entire game. At least something in every single dll file was changed.
  3. I'll link as soon as I find a place big enough to hold it. Its slightly over 1gb in size, and its hard to find a place to host that!
  4. its finally over! Its been over a year, but my TC, URPG Supremacy, is finally finished! Some things to expect are New voiceovers for everyone but the Imperial tactical guy, but I re-did anything with the words "Death Star" in it GUI changes, like new mail icons, new assistants, etc a whole new logo to replace the Rebels. Entirely new cast of characters New music New movies except for the shuttle movies. Mostly new ships, and all ships have been tweaked so they should all be useful. New troops, upgraded defenses, and new special forces. A redesigned galaxy where it takes fewer days to get across. Faster fighters and faster ships to increase combat speed somewhat. All build times reduced by 1/3 in order to make things more interesting. The goal is to speed up the games and forego that first 200-1000 days of building up, while allowing spectacular battles online since more ships will be there
  5. And here I thought Morgan was a girl. Boy my mind was off in the wrong direction.
  6. Protect one ship over Coruscant with a general and some troops to keep it from getting sabbed. Break up the rest of your fleet and put them over the Imperial planets (I'll assume you've destroyed their fleets). Since no maintenance will be coming in, all of the Imp's stuff will start to blow up. You can also speed this process up by sabbing the stuff on other planets like mines and refineries. Or build a ton of Y-wings
  7. Happy Birthday! I cant believe you're that young! I feel old now!!
  8. You could always go with the childish "Rear Admiral"
  9. I'll disagree on one part of D16's post, though I'll concede everything he said about the YV attacks because I've never read the NJO books. Basically, I believe the DS2's planetary shield was a temporary measure, meant to protect the DS2 while it was being created. The DS2, when finished, would likely have quite a powerful shield around it. If it didn't, then why would they try to take it to hostile planets? They don't rely on armor alone for their other capitals, so I figure they'd give that same protection to the DS itself. Given that they have a shield, could phase 2 of the operation be feasible? If the shield is protecting the DS2, then they couldn't hope to attack the laser generator since it would be protected.
  10. Wouldnt a completed Death Star II eliminate whatever hope the Vong could have of doing much of anything? I was under the impression that if completed, the DS II would be invincible.
  11. then it becomes a three-way battle and doesn't really correspond to the Empire's true strength. Instead, lets work with this scenario, as it should help clear some stuff up after a post or two of continuity fixing. End of RoTS. Death Star is being built. Anakin is Vader, Palpy is in charge. All is as the movie shows, except for a couple things: 1: Vader's force choke kills Padme, and the twins are never born. Vader still goes "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" after learning, however. 2: Obi-Wan dies at some time between RoTS and ANH. Perhaps Vader tracked him down or he got shot in the back by a clone trooper. Either way, he dies and doesn't get involved in any anti-empire attacks. 3: Bail Organa and the other senators do not start a formal Rebel Alliance. However, there are still planetary uprisings and such to defeat Now finally, lets assume these things: 1: All technology stolen by the rebels (minus the death star plans, so things like X-wings, Nebulons, etc), were still stolen, but this time from pirates, hutts, etc. 2: Through one reason or another, the Empire decides to create any technology it would have had before it collapsed (TIE Defender even though there weren't Rebel X-wings). If we do that, I THINK we can get to the Yuuzhan-Vong stage without having the Rebellion. Also, it would seem that Mara Jade would be the emperor's hand because Palpy wouldnt have given a "Kill Luke" order.
  12. How does an X-wing cost 1 billion? A TIE Defender costs 300,000, and its better than an X-wing. Also, I'm not entirely certain that 1 credit lines up with 1 USD, 1 Euro, 1 yen, or any real life currency.
  13. Not sure about that, Evaders. Consoles always come with a controller. Yes, you have to buy the memory card, so add 20 dollars on to that. Network adaptors and such are built into the system for the PS2, so no problems there. You'll have to upgrade your video card and RAM every 2 years or so if you want to play the best games available. Around here, the best ones cost about 200 for a video card, and around 100-150 for another 500mb or so of RAM (depending on the type of RAM). We'll be generous and say that you find a deal and and get your computer up to date for 250 dollars every 2 years. Thats STILL less than the 320 dollars that you would spend on the system and memory card every 4 years. I know it seems like they come out with one every year, but the reality is that each company releases their next generation console every 4 to 5 years. Even with these stats, you still end up paying more for a gaming PC than a gaming system.
  14. Thats 400 dollars, and you'll need to do that again in about 2 years, or 4 if you want to wait. Thats assuming you want to play whatever cutting edge game replaces Silent Hill 4. Even with generous figures, thats more than a gaming console.
  15. We may not have heard, but it could have been an old post somewhere or something so we wouldn't know. I figure its probably coincidence, but you never know.
  16. As a Firefly fan, I would suggest stats like these for the Firefly No Weapons. This is a transport ship and carries no weapons. If it must have weapons, it would be 10 turbolasers on the front end (to simulate the movie). Medium level shields, probably 250 or 300, with high damage control. Probably greater than the Mon Cal Cruiser's. It would be a slow ship in subspace, but with high maneuverability. No fighters, but 4 or so troop capacity. If they can hold a large herd of cows, they can hold troops. Treat this ship like the Bulk Transport, but with greater defense.
  17. I don't support the Patriot Act at all. Its like the Sedition Act in its purpose of trampling civil liberties in order to preserve order. Darth Tex brings a good point, but we don't have evidence to believe that enhanced scrutiny in the states has done much to stop terrorism (although it has stopped drug crimes somewhat). Its equally likely that our activities oversees, fighting terrorism, is whats causing the lack of attacks. Unless we can get some hard evidence to justify the Patriot Act's existance, I think we should start trying people for crimes rather than just holding them. Actually I'm for that in ALL situations.
  18. I was looking through the credits of Rebellion today and I saw a man named "Eric Loomis" who was on the design team. I may be wrong, but I think The_Mask's real name is Billy Loomis. Its odd to see two Loomises on a game like Rebellion, so I was wondering if there was any relation there? Wouldn't that be cool?
  19. I know I sound kind of paranoid, but I don't want anyone who isn't meant to hear my conversations to hear said conversations. If they hear it, it won't damage me in any way, probably, but private conversations are meant to be shared in private. If I'm in a particularly naughty phone conversation with my girlfriend, I would appreciate it if some government employees weren't keeping a record of it. I doubt they pay people to listen to every conversation or to read every record, but I don't want to give some guy his kicks during a random screening. While thats an extreme example, the above situation shows that just because you're not doing anything wrong, it doesn't mean that you would just want to have the government (or anyone!) listening to you. Its the same reason you don't carry private conversations when your mom/sister/brother is listening on another end of the phone. That said, I have to say that I dislike the trend we're seeing in America. I dont know enough to comment about laws passed in other countries, but it seems that we're not really fighting terrorism anymore. We've killed Osama Bin Laden and I THINK we killed that other guy, too. We're doing a decent job stomping out terrorism overseas, so there's no reason to pick on Americans living their lives on American soil. Its been four years now since terrorists attacked America, and I think we can start thinking rationally again.
  20. Just wondering, but is the Death Star in your mod overwrite the Death Star in the original version? If so, then all those enhancements you made to it don't matter, as the DS is ALWAYS immune to capital ship attacks, can never use any weapons other than its main laser, and is vulnerable to fighter attacks. Of course, if you actually made a Death Star model and put it in the game as a regular ship, then I pity the poor rebels.
  21. A correction about the Nintendo Revolution's backwards compatibility. You will not need to download Gamecube games, as the Revolution will have a built-in gamecube player. What you are probably referring to is the ability to buy older games (N64, Super NES, etc) and download them.
  22. As I stated above, the cost of buying consoles are worth it when you consider that they last 4 years. Its actually cheaper than keeping up with top-of-the-line gaming computers, so I'm pretty sure Evader's argument on that is invalid. Further, while backwards compatibility was nonexistant during the N64 era, the invention of CDs has allowed consoles to use backwards compatibility. Here's an example: Revolution-->Backwards Compatible (BC) with Gamecube PS3--> BC with PS1 AND PS2. PS2--> BC with PS1 XBOX360--> BC with Xbox. While Evaders would certainly be correct prior to 2001, this just isnt the case anymore. I will concede that no game system is BC with the NES, SNES, or N64, however.
  23. Theres another possibility that we're missing. When we send someone in Rebellion on an "abduction" mission, we don't know how they do it. Talon Karrde and Thrawn are in this game, so Mykyr (sp?) exists in the game's continuity. For all we know, when we send Leia, Chewie, or anyone on an abudction mission to capture Palpy, they could take Ysalamiri with them to negate his Force powers. Or, they could set a time bomb and escape. Since Palpy is nowhere near them, he doesn't sense the intention and thus falls into the trap. They could poison his water. They could use gas. What I'm saying is that all the mission tells us is that they succeed--not HOW they succeed. I'm inclined to believe that Leia uses her connections to find an alternate way to subdue Palpy, and the picture we see is more representative.
  24. I didnt get a lotof info from that post, but if you mean that by having one model present, it could cause a crash if both sides are using that model. For example, if you use that dreadnaught model on the downloads page for both the Empire and Reb's dreds, then you'll get a crash.
  25. All right! I found a 3d program that I used for certain parts of the movies. Now, I only have 2 more to go before I can put this baby to rest and release it for all of you to play. The two movies I have to do, however, are the shuttle movies. I like them, but I really only want to use the part where the shuttle turns and goes into hyperspace. Is there a way to cut the rest of those movies out, and just use those first 10 seconds or so?
