  1. Once I've overcome Windows 7 64Bit Incompatability, I will be back on GameRanger as the scourge of the Rebellion!!
  2. Hi guys, I'm back, and glad to see this site is still going. Have ordered a new copy of Rebellion from the States, so hoping for some great campaigns on GameRanger, and make new friends! Regards Chris
  3. Hi Darth, Good to see there are still some old timers around. I have'nt played Rebellion for a while, although I still have a copy of Supremacy. I used to play Rebellion on the Game Ranger site, and am hoping to get two new copies of Rebellion from the USA shortly after buying them on EBAY, and restart playing my brother for starters. I am going to have to trawl the Forum for info about re-installing Rebellion on my machine, as I now run Windows 7 64Bit. When I tried to load Supremacy I got an error message about 64Bit incompatability so I need to find out how to overcome this problem.
  4. Hi Guys, I've been off air for quite a while, and I am wondering who is regularly checking in/playing this great game still. Please feel free to notify this thread if you are around!
  5. Yep, I think that is how it works, but to be frank I'd just invade the planet and use it for your own nefarious purposes.
  6. Well, I'm back after a long absence and pleased that this site is still going. Will be more active on the Forum after today, and am hopefully starting a full blown campaign against my brother very shortly. Now if only I could get hold of Lord Vader!

  12. ISDs are expensive but their prime function is to fight and defend important key planets IMHO , whereas the VSD I & II are more suited to the long term 'Commerce Raiding' Doctrine to bring the Alliance to its knees.
  13. Excellent tips for the beginner Strell, and it just goes to prove you learn something new about this game all the time.......Ion Cannons help detection ratings.....I was not aware of this although I suspected it

  19. I think you are being a bit naughty SOCL
  20. I wholeheartedly agree. This is probably the only thing I 'dislike' about the whole game.
  21. 'Another Girl, Another Planet', The Only Ones
  22. Was that '.............in a galaxy far, far away.....
  23. Very good points brought out in your post Lord La Forge. There is a vast difference playing the AI vs a human rebel. The Carrack is indeed one of the most versatile fleet units in the Empires armoury throughout the game. Sabotage and commerce raiding are 'the' strategic weapons to be used early on in the game that will give excellent results for little outlay Long Live the Empire
  24. Sorry Jahled, have to agree with GAT, Stellar Magic and Mad on this one. The faces behind the masks are individuals in my humble opinion. Your hypothesis taken to its logical conclusion is that 'people' would not serve the Empire because it is 'perceived' as 'evil'. Human nature would certainly prove otherwise if percieved through a historical 'lense'. Many of the Empires personnel do indeed wear facial headgear/helmets etc but I do think that is done for aesthetics rather than than any ulterior motive. For a start, people with their faces obscured or hidden are 'more scary', and although one could argue they are concealing a hidden agenda, the truth of the matter is far more boring and ordinary than we care to think. Obscured faces induce fear and submission into populations, as they take away individuality and portray no human emotion whatsoever. A small but important psychological tool used throughout our history for starters. It also emotionally detatches the audience from the characters whose face they cannot see, ergo they don't care what happens to them as they are in a sense using your arguement 'faceless clones'. One can bond with a character like Wedge, Luke, or Han because the audience can begin to identify with them. A small point but one which undermines ( unfortunately) your whole hypothesis. Don't know if this makes any sense as I've just come back from the pub, but I hope you can 'get my drift' , to use an old nautical term.......'mumble.....gibber.......THEY'RE IN THE TREE'S MOTHER'.......Arrrgggh.....time for bed
