  1. Sorry Alpha, changes to DLLs only allow you to change the resources (strings, images, etc) that are hard-coded into the game. What you want would require the source code to Rebellion, which none of us have. Simple way to change DLL entries is to use the DLL Entries feature of RebED.
  2. (Oh god.. not another SW vs ST topic...) Carry on...
  3. I believe all the hard cover novels have (or will) made it to softback. I got Shatterpoint on softback and it was awesome.. got all the NJO books cept the last one on softback as well. Currently, there are two novel compilations of the YJK series. Jedi Shadow and Jedi Sunrise, I believe each represent YJK 1-3 and YJK 4-6.
  4. Don't blame Salvatore for that. It was the decision of the Lucas board of editors, as well as approved by Lucas himself. Salvatore just did his job, and he made Chewie go out in a heroic way. R.A. Salvatore: http://www.atlasofadventure.com/interviews/RAS.asp
  5. Like everything else, you buy them And actually, the Eclipse comes from the comic book series by Dark Horse
  6. It really all depends whether your 3D drivers are working. I believe Rebellion uses Direct3D to enable its tactical battles. So how Direct3D enables your video card is determined by your video drivers. Maybe not enough video memory? Have no real help for you here.
  7. Just try and get compatible DirectX drivers for your system. I have one that works just fine in Windows 2000 (with the right drivers), and one also running Windows 2000 that doesn't work (no compatible drivers). The newer video cards will support 2000/XP while the older ones mostly are Win9x only drivers.
  8. mask, I have no clue. The furthest we got on editting FC was the RPK extractor and inserter. Editting pictures were easy enough, models.. who knows. Maybe you'll find an answer
  9. Petitions don't work. But anyway, feel free to post more ideas at our Rebellion 2 ideas forum. Or check out the 'Star Wars' Homeworld 2 mod also hosted here.
  10. Well, I liked Force Commander really. Great innovations, and much better gameplay. Yes the controls aren't as good, but its certainly a darn good looking game. Force Commander, with the mouse-control system of Homeworld, could have been a real Star Wars RTS.
  11. Not likely. Most these worms now use flaws in windows themselves... a firewall won't be able to block them. Keep using that Windows Update. And well, a program called BigFix does a good job at tracking various fixes for software. It's free. http://www.bigfix.com
  12. I've never seen this problem. I have it working on Windows 2000 just fine. Perhaps update your video drivers.
  13. Ooo public exposure. Sounds awesome! Now I need to get that PC Gamer... wonder if they put a link in there... Congrats Eville!
  14. I got Prima's when I got Rebellion. It is a great companion to the manual. For veterans, this may seem like common sense stuff. But for when I was new to the game, this strategy guide was essential.
  15. Please refrain from typing on caps lock. It is hard to read and it is considered shouting online. If there was a way to turn them off, then we would know. There isn't. Just save often
  16. There shouldn't be a problem with download managers. DAP (Download Accelerator Pro) seems to be working fine with it. Perhaps GetRight is being bad. I don't know. Cain: you probably need to understand models before you can do textures. I recommend some time studying 3D modelling.
  17. I guess you're talking about a Homeworld mod here. While there already is a good mod for both Homeworld and Homeworld 2 (look at our forum), it is unlikely that they will be scripted for a complicated game such as Rebellion. Rebellion is a strategy game, while Homeworld is more of a tactical game. We've had tons of suggestions for a base to start moding, but so far really no game comes close to Rebellion.
  18. Wait til you try RebED and some of the TCs/scenarios Good luck!
  19. My statement on the first post should explain it all. If not, well too bad
  20. Yep, just get ships with bombardment. Two shields can't stand against some good VSDs
  21. Believe it We've been right here for quite a while now. Thanxs fo visiting! Personally, I don't believe a defensive fleet will work too well, unless you are safeguarding key areas - Coruscant, your fleet shipyard. Other areas aren't as important. Your ships are better spent attacking enemy forces and forcing them to play defensive. As I play Empire mostly, a Death Star would be my key - supported by SSDs and wings of Tie Defenders, Lancers, Victory IIs, and of course troop transports.
  22. Homeworld is much the tactical simulation. Live in the moment and know that the enemy is doing the same. It certainly makes for such fun gameplay... if annoying at times. I would recommend trying Homeworld 1 and just getting used to the game. Its not like any other real-time strategy game out there. In terms of Eville's mod, there are still tons of things to be worked out. That's why its a beta. Every release is more and more polished though. I'm sure he will work out all these issues.
  23. I believe that there's a Vong ship on the CD that happens to come with The Unifying Force. A few other images from that book too. I have the hardback right here in fact. Unfortunately, the same file also has Vector Prime in it. So I can't transfer it. I'll try and get you a screen shot, how's that? Edit: I guess no harm in posting these. http://www.swrebellion.com/images/warship.jpg http://www.swrebellion.com/images/worldship.jpg Was going to save these perhaps for an NJO TC sometime in the future, but you can use them now. Get them while they are still up.
  24. Really, it is a lot harder than you'd believe to take down a Star Destroyer. The X-Wing sims really take the Rebels POV on this. Everyone is a hotshot pilot in those games.. obviously they would have severe weaknesses for the Star Destroyers, unlimited weaponry for the heroes, and a very good shot. You consider that an Imperial Star Destroyer has: 275 gunners 60 Taim and Bak XX9 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries LeGrange Targetting Computers 2 Om-Thaim Broadcast Banner Shield Generator rated at 300 SBD as well as 3 TIE Fighter Squadrons 2 TIE Interceptor Squadrons 1 TIE Bomber Squadron Really, you would need to throw a fleet against one. With the Rebels lack of resources, it is not likely you will see a whole wing of starfighters equiped with proton torpedoes. The situation against a Star Destroyer is overly rated against the Imperial crew, who are often cited for their incompetance, but are actually the best trained crew in the galaxy. We like to set the record straight for the Empire in the Star Wars Simulation. With superior leadership, tactical genius, and enormous resources, the Galactic Empire should not have fallen so easily to the Rebel forces. Yes, the movies are from a Rebel POV, but we like to make our own Empire much more of a model than the movies portray.
  25. SWRE is old and no longer necessary. RebED does a much better job and its a Windows program.
