NSO Story Development Discussion (SPOILERS)
BadSamaritan replied to Defender_16's topic in Gaming Stories
Actually, Tarkin was not under orders to destroy a planet iirc. he simply chose to to proe to Leia that he was ruthless enough to do it. Frankly, I doubt the Emperor would have been very happy with him for that, seeing as how the Emperor liked Alderaan, even if was sypethetic to the rebel cause. As for the PR spin... "Rogue Asteroid. Came outta nowhere. Hit Alderaan dead on. Seriously." -

Attention, beings of the Empire. As you know, the Justice Star has left it stadard orbit in the Curasca star system. The reasoning for this is the leaders of our military forces have decided to use it in the removal of several dead worlds, to help ease hyperspace travel through certain parts of the galaxy. -
Interesting fact about Postal Mail boxes: You know the ones that say out of town, and In town? Ignore what they say. They all get dumped into the same been inside, and ge sent to the same sorting centers. Local branched no longer sort their own mail, as it is to much of a hassle for smaller buildings. Its amazing what you learn working for the post office.

NSO Story Development Discussion (SPOILERS)

Interesting thing about Force Storms, is that they are only CAUSED by the force, not made from it. Vong vessels would still get ripped into itty bitty little pieces by a FS without to much effort. Ooh, another thought. Centerpoint station. If a nitwit like Thracken could get a crew together to get it running again, you know damn well the Empire would eventually have done it. And they woudl not have pussy footed around like the brat Solo kid did. Oh no, they would be like "Screw it, vape these twelve stars and be done with it. Hey look, no more vong fleets. Ok, everyone move in and mop up." Gimme another day, I am sure that I will come up with more toys for the empire to possibly have. -
NSO Story Development Discussion (SPOILERS)

There are a few other factions in the galaxy you have to remember also. The Hapans has fought off the Empire for years before Endor, including the curb-stomping of a Grand Admiral. While they may have fallen since then, I doubt they would not have resistance cells in place. You also have to wonder how the Mandalorians would be faring. Would the empire have left them alone, or woudl they have been put down as they could have ben seen as a possible source of rebel troops? (I am still confused about them, as for so long people said they were nearly and/or completly wiped out years ago, but with the latest few books you find ou they still have an Empire to call their own.) Where are the Chiss? Ol' Mr. Thrawn would still be alive, and the Chiss new about the Vong before anyone else did. They would have been the first people to strike at the Vong, as they were safegaurding the galaxy against unspeakable horrors (from what I remember, I would have to go get some quotes from a book on that one.) Also, smugglers would be EVERYWHERE by now. The Empire taxed everything they could to pay for their huge war machine, and smugglers would take full advantage of that fact. You can bet their are huge smuggling organizations in existance, with people like Karrde and Booster leading them. How woudl they react to all of this? Final note: In the game of galactic chess, Death Star + Force Storms beats all. The Vong are boned, no matter how you look at it. -
Here is to hoping "planetary quarantine procedures" really means "Target the city with our orbiting vessels, and level it from the perimiter to the center."

Things I can see the Hutts doing right now: Reaping the benefits of a Imperial Navy that is having communication troubles by forging new smuggling routes, launching raids on any and all supply depots that can find to supplement their meager fleets (Yes, the Hutts have fleets. Ragtag fleets, but fleets), and generally doing whatever it takes to make a credit at the cost of whomever gets in their way. They would also be removing any rivals to their seats of power from existance with much less care of reprisal, since everyoen will be running from whatever they thing is coming.

Attention US/World Populace: Prepare To Run For Your Lives

McCain will never get as far as he should. He doesn't have enough support from his own party to win it. HIllary, ont he other hand, does. As for me, I vote Jesse Ventura. -
(Editors note: Yah, long time no see eh? Well, if you are even reading this, that means you are willing to wait for me to get off my ass and actually do something other then play WoW for 12 hours a day. Anyways.... I lost of lot of the story (and I mean A LOT) when the site crahsed, and I will not be retyping for it for 1 simple reason. You didn;t miss much. The following is a fast rundown of what is missing: 1) Han and Wedge end up retreating, leaving Leia and Lando on the planet 2) Luke leads a wing of Wookie fighters to their rescue at the last second, thanks to the Force. 3) Grand Admiral Teshik orders a full assault ont he Second fleet with the intentions of breaking the 5th fleet as it arrives. Plan works, Han solo (now in command of the battle agianst the empire at the front) orders a point defense to try and contain the chaos. 4) Supreme Admiral Kayn, deciding it was time, launched a full scale assault ont he New Republics 3rd fleet using his hidden fleet of CSA-built Star Destroyers. Catching them off gaurd, Fleet Admiral Oksvald orders a general retreat from enemy forces until he can reain control of the 3rd. But yes, have been working on the story slowly. Just been distracted thanks to work, and of course my lovely lovely WoW. I plan on posting somethign this weekend come hell or high water.)

Largest fleet of Dauntless' ever seen!
BadSamaritan replied to DarthOminous's topic in Gaming Stories
Well, my games have a long painfull history of ending in large fleets battles followed by the victor mopping up what the other side has left. Either that, of me sending my last command character to hide in the outer rim while I gain control of the situation and landing facefirst in a massive warfleet. But on to the point. I have found over the years that if you allow the enemy to keep enough core systems and out rim sectors, they will eventually buuild up massive fleets on their own without much RebEd tinkering. However, with the correct RebEd tinkinering you can get your enemy to build up massive fleets wihtout having to wait, whcih ccan lead to some nail biting situations. Case in point: I was at my parents this last weekend playing on thier computer as my own computer is to new to play the game. With some tinkering in RebEd i had the rebels building Imp Star Dueces by day 1000, and by day 1500 I was taking on warfleets stacked with Dauntless cruisers and Imp Stars. Overall, the largest fleet in that game I had to tangle with was 2 Dauntless cruisers, and about a dozen mixed destroyers with even more support ships. But think historically, the worst fleet I ever had to deal with (that I can remember off of the top of my head) had around 9 dauntless cruisers, and about twice as many Mon Cals, and easily a dozen or more assualt frigates. And the supports ships... I think I still have nightmares about that battle. Granted, it took a lot of RebEd tweaking to get a fleet like that amassed against me, but it was fun taking it down. Granted, I ended up missing those fleets in the long run, but it was still fun. -
I think one of the life sized Y-wing models from the original once sold for a cool $5 million. If you got the money, and are a fan....

WTB option to view the site like it used to be. This new look is just to... blue for me.

11 minutes, 32 seconds is the fastest way to do it without using any cheats at all. Best I have ever managed was 13 minutes and some change.

I think StellarMagic also took a shot at it, but he kinda vanished....

Personally, I found the NJO books to be a needed turn in the EU. You can onloy have so many enemies in one galaxy. With the NR and the Empire at peace, they had to come up with something new. And the vong fit the bill perfectly. Also, it brought out the major flaws in the NR government which would lead to its downfall. While everyone loves a republic, the NR, much like the OR before it, was fatally flawed. I was actually happy to see the NR crumble, as I never liked the fact that the Rebellion turned into a government that much like the OR, was far to easy to manipulate and control. Also, it brought about a much needed face for the Jedi, and the force as a whole. The whole "light side good, dark side bad" thing was irritating, as there is always a grey area. And the Jedi finally came to realise that. The one thing that bothered me was that the series was supposed to usher in a new era for Star Wars, but it only half completed that mission. We mostly saw older charachters being brought back for more adventures instead of intorducing new charachters to the plot. Everyone loves Wedge and the Rogues, but how about a new starfighter ace that all the other pilots can hope to be like? Anyways, my $.02
