  1. I feel like a newb next to you 2002 guys. Hi btw.
  2. Ohh, cool to see that this thread is still around after all that time. Art on, boys!
  3. *rolls around on the floor laughing* Those guys are awesome!
  4. Spammer. No, really.
  5. Umm, if you wait a bit for its release, and upgrade to a higher-end computer... Company of Heroes looks fantastic.
  6. Make it animated. That way it won't look as though they were trying to get anyone to take them seriously. [/bitter]
  7. Bring back Sebastian Shaw as Anakin! Remove the Praxis shockwave! Han shoots first! Get those Gungans out of the old trilogy! etc. Actually, I wouldn't mind any of the changes, and the improvements in visual quality is much appreciated, I'd just love it if they would sell the original Original Trilogy as well or include it in the DVDs somehow - let the fans choose!
  8. Thanks Krytos. How's it going? And yeah, I'll be around. Mostly lurking, though. I'm not a man of many posts. Mmm, conceptart.org is my primary source of both inspiration and ego-deflation these days. So many brilliant artists there... EDIT: Also, they have some very pretty girls among them.
  9. Hey hey. I'm 20, I'm Martin, although I tend to see my various online aliases more than my real name these days, I live in Vienna, Austria and I'm primarily an artist. And I used to be quite active on these forums a while ago. Not sure what happened to that. As I mentioned, I live for art, but I'm not ready to make a living from art yet. I've recently begun to create my own comic, which is supposed to span about ten times as many pages as I'm likely to finish in a lifetime. I also paint, mostly digitally, but I've been trying to return to traditional media lately. I'm currently doing my time in mandatory civilian service; before and after that I've been/will be studying Geophysics at the uni here, and I have a rather nice part-time job as a video editor/interpretor. You know, science stuff. I love good music, science fiction and pasta. Parmesan and basil rock my world.
  10. I'll just give every one a mention.. - Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Maul (Episode I) Very good choreography, brilliant music and good camera work. Not the best, but one of the better ones. - Obi-Wan & Anakin vs. Count Dooku (Episode II) Weak compared to Ep. I's one. I didn't bother to follow that one too closely, after a while it just became tiring. - Yoda vs. Count Dooku (Episode II) Oh dear god no. Yoda should never have been given a lightsaber fight. Never, do you hear me? - Obi-Wan & Anakin vs. Count Dooku (Episode III) Rather nice if only for being such a predictably similar situation to RotJ. Not really stunning, but for once it fit the story. - Obi-Wan vs. General Grievous (Episode III) I don't even remember that, so I guess I didn't like it. - Mace Windu vs. Darth Sidious (Episode III) Nice movement again, good pacing, fun to watch. Not bad. - Yoda vs. Darth Sidious (Episode III) Despite what I said earlier about Yoda and lightsaber fights, it was quite enjoyable. Only... Sidious should have cut back on the mad laughs. It didn't exactly help in taking him seriously - Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader (Episode III) Very fast, very well done. Good music, too. A bit over the top. Better than the actual fight was Obi-Wan's monologue afterwards, although I wonder what kind of Jedi would leave his 'brother' suffering like this. - Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader (Episode IV) Too slow, not too exciting. Unlike later fights where lightsaber combat was a bit like fencing, this one had more of a longsword feel. Both characters had some very nice lines, though. - Luke vs. Darth Vader (Episode V) First one of my favourites. It shows Luke's inferiority in lightsaber combat, and it's quite moody and emotional. Only thing that rally spoils it is Vader's constant one-liners, especially in the beginning stages of the fight. Had he been more quiet, this would have been it. - Luke vs. Darth Vader (Episode VI) My winner. Really emotional, very fast and energetic movement, and you can feel Luke's anger when he begins to hack away at the weakened Vader. Awesome music in that part too.
  11. No. He cannot be killed. But put to sleep, or distracted, maybe.
  12. That is not a problem. Many of us already feel right at home in the cockpit of a ResHacker (Hey, that should be a starship!) cruising the depths of DLL-space. Changing names to every desired length and adding funky ranks is as easy as the proverbial pie. Only with such enormously long names as the ones suggested for planets above (i.e. topic names), a problem arises: the game isn't able to properly display suchnames on the galactic map. I vote for Fluffy Koalas as Mon Calamari Regiment replacements, Reloaded Modders as special forces, the abovementioned ResHacker Star Cruiser as well as the RebED-80b Command Carrier, and Z**t as the replacement of the Death Star.
  13. I'm a badass level 2 light side Mace Windu. Does that mean I have to carry a purple Lightsaber?
  14. Well then, I'd be Ackbar. Obviously. Hmm, designing starships, I do that already!
  15. I typed in Darth Vader in the search bar, and got linked correctly, without the redirect remark. Are you sure you didn't just miss the capitalization of "Vader"?
  16. As far as I know there's no equivalent for SW fans. Warsies sounds just silly. But it gets even worse if you consider Babylon 5 fans (like me)... Babies?
  17. Wow Krytos, that's looking very nice already! I think right now the front portion looks a bit short, and the upper part of it too small compared to the lower one. I've dug up two more sketches that might help you to get a grasp on how the rear looks. http://img497.imageshack.us/img497/201/051203kerbside3it.th.jpg http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/3443/051214kerberos1bw.th.jpg Note that I haven't made many sketches yet, and I'm not completely familiar with her shape, also the design still evolves from sketch to sketch, so there might be contradictions. So just go with the version that looks best I'll try to come up with some more precise isometrical views, and maybe some detail shots. Keep up the good work! (And let me know if there's textures to paint )
  18. No, that's a bit too specific, IMO. The wiki entry should just contain general information; if more specific questions arise, well, that's what the link to this page is for. But do keep looking for mistakes, and things to add.
  19. Tofu. I just had a look at your post and I think I know your problem. The text you ant to have formatted has to be [tag]between[/tag] the tags. In your case, it isn't. Some forums software supports just selecting the text and clicking the button or drop-down, and the tags will wrap around automatically. This one doesn't. You'll have to make sure the tags are in place. Then it works just fine.
  20. Yeah, that's not it either. I don't use any ships for both sides. I'm just going to observe, and if the error doesn't come up again, I'll ignore it. If it does, hopefully I can give more info about the circumstances.
  21. "Unable to match primary surface creation request with existing primary surface." This came up before a space battle. Afterwards, the program killed itself. The battle in question would have included a custom model, but one that's been successfully tested by now. EDIT: To clarify, there was only one model present in the fight. Anyone know more about it?
  22. Thanks Tex; I'm open to all questions and suggestions. Only limit I've put on the story is that it's supposed to take place in the late 23rd century, i.e. Kirk's era. Most stuff after the Enterprise 1701-B's launch is ignored.
  23. TayTay, please look at the date of the last post. The thread has been inactive for over a year.
  24. Well, I wrote half of it, of course it's correct! Seriously though, this last bastion of Rebellion players and the RebED would certainly be worth mentioning.
  25. Status of the TC: (warning, long post ahead) - Majority of major planets replaced with ST names, and the galaxy (quadrant, actually) has its desired shape. - New shiplists with some less-known but well-fitting starships of the franchise - More tweaks to capital and fighter balance. Ships now die more easily under mass fire and don't regenerate shields as fast (giving fighters more of a fighting chance). - More sounds changed. UI sounds replaced. Began to replace speech (but finding source material that fits is hard. My favourites are "Fascinating" for Spock leaving for a mission, and "Please let me know if there's some other way we can screw up tonight" for Kirk failing a mission.) - More ship, troop and character graphics changed, and I decided for a look for the UI (it's gonna be hard, but doable.) - Some more thoughts given to backstory - Earth now receives a treatment by the Genesis Device after which the Federation essentially breaks apart. graphics for Earth changed accordingly - Strings changed a lot. The two sides were renamed to Federation and Klingon Alliance. This can cause confusion now, if remaining strings about the 'Alliance' show up. Needs to be fixed. Test Run: Federation, Large Galaxy, Difficulty: Hard The random unit allocation left me with only a couple Oberth-class survey ships and a few troop transports. I suppose Starfleet has suffered greatly under the war in my new backstory. (I wish there was a way to randomly damamge starting ships. Would give a nice touch.) Character randomization is nothing special: I get a few diplomats, a few admirals, one or two mediocre agets - nothing unexpected for the Feds. Scotty goes and researches ships on the provisional HQ on Ceti Alpha, joined by Doctor Marcus and her son who work on new facilities. Spock persuades Vulcan to join the Federation, and goes recruiting there (I always do this, and funnily enough he seems to recruit every Vulcan character there every time). Klingon agents manage to abduct him later. Kirk searches the remains of Earth for remaining Starfleet personnel. He, too, is abducted by Klingon secret forces. The remains of Starfleet roam the galaxy in an effort to free Federation worlds the Alliance has captured during the brief war, but is forced to flee the Klingon fleet. One Oberth falls victim to the heavy plasma cannons of a Romulan Bird-of-Prey. After Federation shipyards finish the first Federation class dreadnought, I'm able to kick the Klingons' butts for the first time. Several enemy ships are damaged or destroyed, but the new ship, the USS Entente, suffers catastrophical damage, too, and is drifting above the newly-liberated planet, without guns, shields or warp engines. Another Oberth is lost, too. The game crashes after a battle of a refit Constitution class with some Klingon Assault shuttles, but I manage to get some interesting results out of the test: - Balance of the low-level ships works as intended. Romulan BoPs can blast Federation ships to pieces in just a few shots, but die easily when tagetted themselves. Fighters pose a threat to capital ships, but scouts and destroyers are very efficient against them. Ships often take heavy damage in battles, owing to their weak shields in comparison with their weapons. - The Klingon AI is rather aggressive, but not extremely so. I've lost three worlds near the Klingon home system in 150 days, and several others were bombarded or raided. -- Very interesting point to see there was that the AI seemed to use ist ships very much as I had intended them: Fleets of D7 cruisers and Bird-of-Prey artillery ships fell into said systems, bombarded the hell out of them and landed troops, while several single B'rel scouts (which have the highest warp speeds until late game and very good bombardment ratings because of their ability to go into atmosphere and attack targets from close range) raided my worlds with quick bombardments which didn't do much damamge but upset the population. - Something's not yet right with the galaxy settings and/or characters, as I don't see the AI use diplomats as much as it used to in vanilla Rebellion. - Something's definitely not yet right with character settings, as characters which I designed for specific roles fail at their respective roles. I get Admirals with Leadership as low as 50! - Need to replace more voices, now that I've started. And graphics, too. Mr. Chekov still looks like Wedge Antilles, and, still left from an earlier (mostly joke) modification, one Romulan researcher has the face of Wile E. Coyote. And don't get me started about Captain Kirk going to Dagobah. But it's showing promise. As soon as I find someone to supply me with tactical models, or finaly get the skills to do them myself, it will really start to get interesting.[/url]
