  1. Saw this today... Spooky...
  2. Indeediness! Jahled's avatar is back to it's regular size! Quick! Everyone change their filetypes to .gif!
  3. Ew...I've got Jahled's grey-matter all over my monitor...
  4. That's assuming that y'all drink until you're blitzed. I'm 28, and I have never been drunk (Scout's honor!). I've lost friends to Drunk Drivers too, and I don't like the idea of losing control, either. Therefore, as soon as I start 'buzzing', I stop. Simple as that. I'll have a beer with a meal now and then, or a glass or two of wine with the Mrs., but I do not get drunk. I also do not drink every day. I might have a beer once a week. Qualifier to my previous statement: Good Beer is liquid bread. It's good for you. Now, to celebrate all that is beer (except all that 'Lite' crapola), I present: THE BEER SONG by Homer Simpson DO........... THE STUFF THAT BUYS ME BEER RAY.......... THE GUY THAT SELLS ME BEER ME............THE GUY WHO DRINKS THE BEER FAR.......... A LONG WAY TO GET BEER SO............I'LL HAVE ANOTHER BEER LA............ I'LL HAVE ANOTHER BEER TEA.......... NO THANKS, I'M DRINKING BEER THAT BRINGS US BACK TO...(LOOKS INTO EMPTY GLASS).....D'OH!!
  5. I can hear the gears churning away in his skull as he ponders the question all the way over here...
  6. {sigh} Okay...I'll bite. Beer is liquid bread. It's good for you.
  7. Um...getting back to the subject of this thread... Thanks, Jahled. One aspect of racism that WAS (an initial) part of the films was the discrimination against droids, as evidenced by Wuhrer's (sp?) reaction to Artoo's and Threepio's presence in the Mos Eisley Cantina. You could also make an argument that Piett's reaction to the non-human bounty-hunters was a racial epithet. Or, that the Imperials' dismissal of the native populace of Endor was a result of their superiority complex. And interesting contrast is the Rebellion. While they DO have a number of non-humans in their service, you see no one BUT Humans at Hoth, and humans make up a disproportionate amount of the Alliance's membership (Ackbar discusses this during the Tycho Celchu trial in the RS books). I've heard this argument as well (usually from my friend, Valkir). The only real point to counter it is that the Rebels don't target civilians.
  8. Careful Antilles...you'll make the poor bloke overload if he had to just pick 10...
  9. There was a .gif from the same host a page back or so that gave me the same message.
  10. No safety features enabeled that I know about...then again, it IS a work computer.
  11. Could be...but why would it bring up an image from the host site regarding security?
  12. So it must just be something to do with my end, then. I'll laugh anyway...
  13. Those second two links give me an "image stolen from b3ta" picture, dude.
  14. Here's an update, fellas (and gals! ) I just got word that I start class on the 23rd of August, so I may be dropping off the face of the boards for awhile. Things have been hectic up until now anyway, but it'll only get worse before it gets better. House repairs to get it ready to go on the market being the primary worry, as is going through our collection of junk and getting rid of all those 'treasures' we haven't laid eyes on in years. Anyway, BBL will keep you posted on big events, and I'll try to drop a line to a few of you now and then. But that's all more than a month away.
  15. Hey-ya, Teukros! Yeah, I buckled and made oodles of changes myself. Mad78 is right, though. Just do an advanced search as he indicated, and look for each vessel type (or just "Mon Calamari") and be sure to indicate that you want to look for the card name and in the text. They'll turn up, more or less. Or you can PM me and I'll ship ya the ones I'm currently using. I've got the MC40, MC80, MC80b, and the "Home One".
  16. Some trivia, Thumper? Try, 'encyclopedic knowledge'. She knows her stuff, boys! What's more, she's taught me a few things, and what she doesn't know off the top of her head she'll find out from her vast network of informers. *looks at Mad's rank* Dear LORD, Mad! You're already a Grand Admiral?!? {sigh}
  17. Haven't we had this discussion in the past? The Complete Guides, my friends. Use them.
  18. Ouch! That's a hard choice, Elvis, and we'll sorely miss ya.
  19. I'll echo Mad and Jahled, except to add that you won't find new models for all of the original ships. However, there ARE some excellent replacements which are more 'canon' than the originals. You're out of luck finding new models for: (off the top of my head) Bulwark Battlecruiser (the XWA model could be altered for Rebellion, though. Ask the_mask for more details) Bulk Cruiser (for the time being) Assault Frigate (for the time being) Gallofree (Rebel) Medium Transport Liberator Cruiser CC-9600 Cruiser CC-7700 Frigate Imperial Escort Carrier (soon to be remedied, right Mask? ) Interdictor Cruiser Galleon Star Galleon Assault Transport But, like I said, there are some drool-worthy replacement ships! Check out Mask's website, download the tutorial, and then any models you want. You can find links to his site in the 'links' section of the site here, or just find one of his posts and click on the 'WWW' button at the bottom.
  20. Welcome back, Teukros! We never did come to a conclusion about that, did we? I've boosted speed and maneuverability across the board to both speed up the games and give a direct relationship between their Rebellion speeds and those given in XWA. Then again, I've made a LOT of other changes, as well. As for my building preferences, as the Rebels I tend to concentrate on the Core with my diplomats, leaving one or two to do the dirty work in the Rim. I try to quickly explore the Rim with Med. Transports and Longprobes, landing troops on the best systems of a sector and then ordering the delivery of a construction yard to the area. It's a slow process, but there's usually little Imperial interferance. This allows me to concentrate my more combat-oriented ships in the Core. I've had success against the computer and against a human player by sticking with 'sector fleets'. Usually nothing more than a (damned) corvette or two at the beginning, they allow for the quick-strike/blockade strategy that so annoys the Empire. I add vessels to the fleet as I'm able, concentrating on the fleets that see more action. I've also learned that even if I'm drastically outnumbered and flight is really the only option, to go ahead and play the battle and retreat to avoid losses.
  21. The Technical Commentaries covers a lot of what you're looking for, IIRC. The rank insignia is odd, at best, for the Imperials, while the insignia for the Rebellion is downright neurotic. But maybe that link will help clear things up for you.
  22. No prob, Dino! It's the thought that counts, right?
  23. Ditto. Hey Dino: care to share your code?
  24. WOO!! Great job, AdmiralFishface!
  25. Goth Jedi?!? Oh, MAN! I just had a mental picture of Darth Vader sitting in his parent's basement writing a batch of really bad poetry in between readings of his Anne Rice novels.
