  1. Aw, c'mon guys! It was an honest question on her part. Hell, I've never made fresh OJ either, so the question is completely valid from my pov.
  2. From what I gather, it was HIS decision to leave, and that was in response to the positions he took on 'Reloaded' and its direction. It was no fault of anyone else here (I think). It's one thing to forgive him, which I assume would happen if he DID decide to show back up, but why swallow our pride and beg him to come back, thereby rewarding that kind of behavior?
  3. Makes me glad I missed the whole episode. I can't decide what's worse, that he'd up and leave like a petulant child, or that he'd take the time to go in and manually 'remove' all of his posts.
  4. The story "Solid Ground" is pasted on the TF.N boards, and so is a bit difficult to read without spoilers and audience reaction to each scene. If you want a copy in Word, PM me and I'll send it along.
  5. Sorry; I don't see anything. Just a red 'X'. Edit: Interesting...when I copy and paste the link, I see the picture, and then hitting 'back' causes it to appear here in the forums. Sorry; must've been something on my end. Great pic!
  6. Here are their descriptions from the CUSWE: Farlander, Keyan Keyan Farlander grew up on Agamar, and was indifferent to the ways of the galactic government until Mon Mothma came to the planet to gain underground support for the Alliance. Farlander received a copy of the A Call to Reason pamphlet, and it turned his mind to the Alliance. He joined up, and decided the he wanted to be a starfighter pilot. As an untrained Alliance starpilot on his first mission, Keyan helped recover important Imperial documents by disabling the Imperial shuttle Talon near Turkana. He proved his incredible piloting skills there as well, and went on to become one of the Alliance's premier pilots. He was instrumental in raids on a number of Imperial outposts, and was part of the team that fled to Yavin 4 to prepare for battle against the Death Star. While on Yavin 4, Keyan helped familiarize Luke Skywalker on the controls of the X-Wing. He was one of the few survivors of the Battle of Yavin, piloting a Y-Wing during the fighting and fleeing the destruction of the first Death Star with Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, and the Millennium Falcon. Keyan continued to serve the Alliance, and later the New Republic, as a military officer and advisor. Because of his uncanny skills, Keyan was tested by Luke Skywalker for a connection to the Force, which revealed that Keyan was possible Jedi material. He trained for many years at the Jedi praxeum on Yavin 4, and eventually earned the rank of Jedi Knight. By the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Farlander had been promoted to General. He served under Admiral Traest Kre'fey aboard the Ralroost during the period following the Battle of Coruscant, working to implement the plans of Admirals Sovv, Ackbar, and Kre'fey. (X-Wing: The Farlander Papers; Ylesia; Star Wars Insider 63; Unifying Force) Stele, Maarek only son of Kerek and Marina Stele, Maarek grew up like most young boys on backwater planets, racing swoops at breakneck speeds in his spare time. After the abduction of his father, Maarek and his mother hid in one of the planet's lesser-known cities, until his participation in a swoop stunt provided Maarek's name to the Bordali. They sent Gwadj to kidnap Maarek and Marina, but the Empire chose that very moment to invade the Taroon System. Maarek was taken away and conscripted as a repair technician. After a few months, Maarek was sufficiently knowledgeable about TIE fighters that he was allowed to take them for test runs after finishing repairs. On one such flight, near Farboon, he was the only fighter launched when Admiral Mordon's shuttle was intercepted by Alliance starfighters. Maarek came to his rescue, and was given a chance to become an Imperial pilot. He jumped at the chance, and went on to become one of the Empire's most fearsome TIE pilots. When Arden Lyn joined rogue Admiral Zaarin in an attempt to kidnap Emperor Palpatine, Maarek provided support to Darth Vader himself in preventing the coup. This earned him the attention of the Emperor, who recognized that Maarek had some sensitivity to the Force. He was later trained by the Prophets of the Dark Side, earning the rank of Tan, and in the wake of the Battle of Endor, he served with the 181st Imperial Fighter Group under Soontir Fel. (TIE Fighter: Defender of the Empire {the Stele Chronicles}; Star Wars Gamer, Issue 5, WotC) Essentially, they were the 'heroes' of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter computer games. They were who 'you' were supposed to be as you played the game. Their individual perspectives on the Galactic Civil War were included with the strategy guides for the games. Farlander's story for the Rebellion was told in "The Farlander Papers", while Stele's was told in "The Stele Chronicles". Farlander is the only one to appear in any other medium, however.
  7. carrickr has a point. However, the biggest hurdle is that we're just a handlful of Star Wars fans. That won't get anywhere with Lucasarts. We can't count on Lucasarts ever picking up on the title themselves. We can't legally hack the code ourselves. The previous developers don't have the ability to shed light on the code for us. So here's what we need to do: 1) Start and online petition, perhaps at petitiononline.com, stating that the undersigned are fans of the Star Wars universe and/or Rebellion, and that consideration should be given to creating a sequel to Rebellion. Indicate that a good portion of the undresigned WILL buy the game, should it be released. We should probably get a lawyer or at least a para-legal to write it up for us. 2) Contact each registered member of this site, directing them to the petition. Even if we assume only 50% of the members have current addresses, that's well over 1300 signatures. 3) Contact theforce.net. Get them to post a story and link to the petition on the main page as a 'sticky', asking for the support of the Star Wars community at large. They may not all have liked Rebellion, but they're Star Wars fans, darn it, and they'll support us if they can. Those that don't...well, we all know they're pathetic virgin loners still living in their parent's basement, lacking any real social life or redeeming personality traits, right? 4) Contact a gaming company, perferably a small one (more willing to talk to us and take a chance on landing a SW title) or one that has had dealings with Lucasarts in the past (since that business rapport is hopefully still there). Present them with the petition, IN PERSON, giving clear evidence that they stand a good chance of profiting from this endeavor. Convince them to contact Lucasarts on a professional, business-to-business level to open negotiations for the project. 5) Offer the modding ideas and results of this site as reference to the company, and appoint a contact person to act as a consultant between the company's development team and the Rebellion community. 6) Wait the obligatory 1-3 years for development. 7) Purchase the game the first day it's released, shocking the bejeezus out of the snooty gaming community that looked down it's collective nose at Rebellion to begin with. Gloat. 9) Enjoy Star Wars Rebellion modding nirvana. This may work even better if we contact more than one company at a time, creating a sense of competition between companies. Also, we'll probably get refused by a few of 'em, so having a backup would be prudent.
  8. I vote for Keyan Farlander or Maarek Stele. Nawara Ven would be cool, too, as would Tycho Celchu or Bror Jace, Hobbie, Janson, or Lieutenant Page.
  9. Hey Thumper! I was wondering when you'd show up! I should've known what your username would be, tho. Like I told you in that last e-mail, I don't know if it'll have all the bells & whistles, but the copy of "Force Commander" I recently bought, being part of the "Lucasarts Archives" collection, had the poster and everything in it. Check out this topic while you're here. Just my little attempt to get you some PR.
  10. Aw, you get used to it after awhile, TK. The fun part becomes seeing how creative the other person will get in their quotes.
  11. I believe I have a comic featuring it: "Rogue Squadron: In the Empire's Service". Flown by Nrin Vakil, if I remember right. My father-in-law has a scanner, and I could probably use it, but I won't get a chance to get over there for at least a week. Sorry.
  12. Welcome, Spade! Yeah, I think this came up a loooong time ago. Using the XWA engine for the fleet battles when you decide to take part, the Homeworld engine for when you chose to remain in the 'tactical' mode, the JKIII engine for performing espionage and sabotage missions, and the Force Commander/Galactic Battlegrounds engine for planetary assaults. {sigh} Sadly, all we can do is dream, since incorporating even one of those aspects would be all but impossible, even with the sourcecode. Not to mention the size of the install...
  13. I say, "Go for it!" In fact, there may even be a card for it already. If not, then by all means, create one and upload it!
  14. I'll do that...
  15. Really? That sounds pretty cool. Is it on tf.n?
  16. Hey Cain! The two links I posted above will take you to two different sites with some really good stories. Otherwise, the largest repository of Star Wars fan fiction is on theforce.net.
  17. I can already hear the collective groans from y'all. I've browsed through the archives at tf.n too, and been disappointed by what I've found. Everything is 'alternate universe' this, 'Jedi whupping heiney' that...but nothing really featuring pilots or fleet action, arguably the central aspect of Rebellion, and certainly the source of the popularity of the Rogue Squadron series of novels, games, etc. (Wish there was a toy line, though.) In short, I've been rather disappointed with Star Wars-themed fanfiction as a whole. However, I have found a couple of gems that I feel I should share with the community here. Seriously, though, I'm not about to post my latest attempt at a Star Wars themed short story. Rather, I'm going to post a link to a pair of sites that have some rather quality stories, IMHO. http://www.coronasquadron.com/pics/corona-logo.JPG Corona Squadron features the exploits of a Rebel starfighter squadron by the same name. No Jedi (yet!), no 'canon' characters...just the everyday Rebels that make up the backbone of the Alliance. I've been e-mailing back and forth with the author for awhile now, and I have to say, she's done some quality work here. I haven't had this much fun reading in the Star Wars universe since Zahn, Stackpole and Allston (high praise, to be sure, but well deserved). Read all of the stories in order, although 'Solid Ground' is by far her best work. What's more, she's now discovered this site, and is experiencing the wonderful world of Star Wars capital ships being more than just a means to ferry around the starfighters and the jocks who pilot them. Read 'em. You won't regret it. http://downtime.echostation.com/images/banner-downtime-white.gif "The Pilot's Lounge" at Downtime features some really good stories as well, all centered around pilots and fleet action (in fact, it's where I first discovered Corona Squadron). But's it not just all Rebel; no, there are stories from the Imperial POV as well. Good stuff. Anyhow, I know these may not really interest some of y'all, and they may be simply out-of-the-question for those of you whose English is a bit shaky. Others may feel that they've read all about Rogue and Wraith Squadrons, so why bother with these? But if you get a chance, check them out.[/img] And if you know of any other good SW Fan-fics, post links to 'em here!
  18. Are you referring to me or Mad78? 'Cause I listed my source on the first page.
  19. (Sorry for the tardiness of my reply, BBL!) Personally, my method of relaxation has changed over time. Growing up as the eldest son of a military chaplain, you tend to be on the 'outside' of the social circles of the other kids your age on the military bases. Most of the time we lived off base, which meant that we (my borthers, my sister and I) were seperated from the neighborhood kids by language and culture as well. Consequently, I spent a lot of time hiking around the various woods of Spangdahlem, Germany and Alto de La Muela (a village near Zaragoza, Spain). I also spend a good deal of time in my room, or playing with my brothers. And while we only had one television station to watch in English (AFRTS) and I watched a LOT of movies, I really don't like to watch TV or movies that much (sports coverage featuring the Chicago Bears or the San Antonio Spurs are a different story, though ) And, being a child of the late-80's and early 90's, the Nintendo Entertainment System sucked up vast amounts of my childhood life. So it would be no surprise that I find videogames, no matter the platform, to be relaxing (unless I'm losing ), although I still love to go hiking in the various parks on the outskirts of the city. That I've had to adjust to three more people taking those treks with me has taken time, but now I honestly don't know how I'd feel doing it by myself. I certainly wouldn't enjoy it half as much as I do now. Even the videogames aren't really as much fun anymore unless I'm playing them with BBL or another friend. I suppose if I must lay claim to a specific set of activities that I do on my own to relax, I'd have to say Rebellion, obviously, but also reading. Whether it be my latest Star Wars novel, my up-teenth re-reading of "The Lord of the Rings", some other sci-fi/fantasy-fiction related book or just a chapter or two out of "the Good Book", reading is certainly a means for me to unwind from the stresses of the day and re-focus my life.
  20. This thread, first post.
  21. Man, I've really got to toy around more with ResHack. Here I was, convinced it'd be this big pain in the keister, when all it really takes is...{grumble, grumble}. Man, I need more sleep.
  22. Point taken. I had just assumed that since your tutorial suggests that people back them up, someone might have a copy available...of course, you know what happens when you assume. Yeah, that'll be my task for tonight. Thanks, Cain/Mask!
  23. Yeah, I got the 13 CD set for Christmas a couple of years back. Great stuff! I think, too, that the actor that does Boromir was the same one who played him in the Ralph Bakshi movie. At least, the voice sounds the same. I'm not quite sure I follow. Sure, they had to 'trim' a little bit of dialogue (and Tom Bombadil/Old Man Willow), but otherwise they tended to follow teh book much more closely (Faramir, Eomer, Ent's assault on Isengard {or lack thereof}, etc.). What I found most funny is that I'd never realized how little Legolas and Gimli are in things after the Battle of Helm's Deep. This radio adaptation filled in the blanks by having their dialogue follow Aragorn's, usually with something like: Aragorn: "I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Elessar the Elfstone, etc., etc." Legolas: "And I'm Legolas the Elf!" Gimli: "And Gimli the Dwarf!" Legolas & Gimli: "With bow and axe we come!" The sad thing is, after seeing the movies the voices for this set just don't sound right anymore.
  24. I hope someone here can help me with this. I htought I had backed-up all of the models and textures for each ship in the original game, but it turns out that I missed two. If anyone has or can easily get the model & texture for the Star Galleon and Bulk Cruiser and mail 'em to me, I'd much appreciate it. I know I can simply unstall Rebellion and reload, but I'd like to save all the trouble of going through all the Dll's correcting truncated strings and re-loading all my other models. Thanks in advance!
  25. Theonering.net posted a rumor several months ago that both Sir Ian Holm (Bilbo) and Sir Ian McKellan (Gandalf) would definitely sign on to do 'The Hobbit' if it were ever put into production. And yes, they're both still alive. Peter Jackson has said that he'd do 'The Hobbit' after his current project, 'King Kong'. Here's a bit of trivia: in the 'Lord of the Rings' dramatized BBC radio broadcast, Sir Ian Holm plays Frodo. It threw me off when I first heard his voice in the movies as Bilbo.
