    Registry

Well there is a world of difference between a spyware infested machine and a working install. My opinion resides in the world of the old adage "If it's not broken, don't fix it."
  2. Haha... my bid of 17,200 won!!! Budious places the Colbert Wrist Cast in his celebrity memorability showcase right between Dale Earnhardt's Hans neck guard and Rosie O'Donnel's tub of Crisco.
  3. Knight Rider, Airwolf, and TJ Hooker. I miss you guys... the Shat lives forever!

    Registry

Can you name any advantages of using a registry cleaner? Or wait, there aren't any! Purging a few bytes of extra info is really worth the risk of deleting the wrong bytes that wreck havoc on your registry. It all comes down to risk assessment, I see the registry cleaner as a bigger risk than the risk it claims to mitigate.

    Registry

    Registry Cleaners are overrated. Don't install crap applications to start with and have no worries (puts registry cleaners into that "crap" category), anyways here it is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC\Star Wars Rebellion] "InstalledLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\" "DataLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\" "DllLocation"="D:\\Rebellion" "TooBigLocation"="D:\\Rebellion" "EXEPath"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\REBEXE.EXE" "EncyLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\EData" "MusicVolume"=dword:000002bc "Volume"=dword:000002de "DisplayOpts"=dword:13110100 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC\Star Wars Rebellion\Version] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectPlay\Applications\Star Wars Rebellion] "CommandLine"="" "CurrentDirectory"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\" "Path"="C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Rebellion\\" "File"="REBEXE.EXE" "GUID"="{8DEC0D67-DCF5-11d0-AFED-0020AF9D7C7E}"
  6. Jahled, I hear that books loose significant value if they have been "flagged" by use as bathroom reading material. I hope you're keeping those on the desk ;P Buds rips out a page and runs for the bathroom yelling "I got TP for my bunghole!"
  7. First thing that popped into my mind after seeing the thread title was... http://www.virtualfools.com/filler/videogames/contra7.gif
  8. Next time you need to look up your IP for some Rebellion multiplayer... http://www.moanmyip.com/
  9. If you see a blue sparkle effect around it a ship it is caught in a tractor beam. If you see a red sparkle effect around it a ship it is emitting a gravity field. Depends on the strength of the ship to see how much effect tractor beams have, the best way to view tractor beam strength is to put two ISD into a taskforce group. Assign the group the surround tactic ( as opposed to standoff) and pick a target for the taskforce to attack. The two ships will combine tractor beams and hold the target still, works with 2 ISD against most other ships immobilizing them.
  10. "The original game was released for the PC, but if they come out with Rome: Total War 2, let’s hope it is developed for the consoles too." What?! How do you play a Total War game with a console controller
  11. I'm guessing that my average is over eight per night. However, I'm quite the insomniac staying up some nights, sleeping less than four hours for several days in row followed by long nights of catchup sleep. I don't have much of a schedule.
  12. To fill your suggestion and explorer the complex sociology of star wars, the clone troopers were excellent soldiers from the movies where as a typical stormtrooper has less than a 5% accuracy rate. Despite their skills, the attitudes of Obi Wan and the other jedi reveals that many characters in the star wars universe consider clones taboo and shun their presence and treat them as second rate citizens giving their lifes a lesser value than a non clone. Taking a look out our relatively modern history, that it would make sense to assume that clonetrooper and stormtrooper would remain segregated much as United States WWII units and Tuskegee Airmen of our time. I could speculate that to fill the deathstar with standard troopers in large quantities and keep the elite and expendable clonetroopers as ground brigades. Much as the Emperor eludes to in RotJ when he refers to having his best men on Endor waiting for Han's sabotage team. Also, were clonetroopers extended freedoms to be discharged from service, to propagate their dna, or to live as normal citizens. Were they engineered to be sterile? etc. (aka Salt Peter)
  13. I uploaded the force to you and now you proclaim to be the master?! Young padiwon, STFU and go play with yourself.
  14. I think the most inspiring sci-fi space battle clip I can find is the season three premiere episode of Battlestar Galactica. You can search Youtube for "Galactica New Caprica" for entire battle sequences though most have been dubbed with lame music tracks. I post the following clip which is near the middle of the battle sequence, this is by far the coolest thing ever put into a space battle on tv or film. This how flexible a game engine should be with tactics, I just enjoy the creativity of the producers of Battlestar Galactica... anyways about the scene and video clips. Previous to this scene, raptors (similar to gunship in tie fighter game) launch decoy missles to mimic battlestar signatures and turn back the way the came. Cylons move to engage the decoys. This queues the upgrising to being on the planet surface and opens the way to Galactica's attack. In this scene, Galactica exits FTL (hyperspace eq.) in upper atmosphere to dead stop and begins a free fall into the planet's gravity, the underside begins to glow cherry red as the vipers (starfighters) launch into the atmosphere and about 100 meters from the ground the Galactica jumps back into FTL. Following this scene, Galactica has made a short jump to outer orbit and is calculating FTL flightpath and intercepting the cylon basestars until the civilian starships can launch off of New Caprica. Galactica starts to take heavy damage and Battlestar Pegasus jumps into combat against the admiral's order and battle plans to stay clear of the battle. Pegasus nukes one basestar before evacuating to Galactica. Pegasus is left on autopilot and collides with two more cylon basestars destroying them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1AM9ydNrY0
  15. Well... all things considered Evaders... my tough on the game stance is validated. My formerly maintained website has the only known Force Commander bug listing (only two shown). The third is more difficult to illustrate has to do with the game's fighter units. Fighter lasers have a greater range than the anti-fighter weapons and a skilled player can plant a fly over point and quickly withdraw and quickly attack again without ever getting hit by flak fire. You can view the other two for yourself here - http://www.geocities.com/budskorner/fcproject/bugs.htm On the subject of the secondary weapon bug, I had verified this bug via email discussion at the time with the lead developer of the 3d engine at the company that co-developed the game with LucasArts. He confirmed that the bug would be easy to fix but he was not authorized to release a patch for it and did not think LucasArts could be persuaded to devote resources to patching the title as it was a poor seller. A 1.02 patch with some needed balance tweaks could have the multiplayer aspect of the game much more inspiring.
  16. I was making the opposite point that it is easier for the loser against great odds to win the game in HQ as the underdog doesn't have to worry about catching the characters. It's more of a guard your HQ and never feel too safe, especially as Rebels as a sabotage mission will end your game early.

My sarcastic congratulations to you bring me 1 post nearer my own milestone of spam contributed to this forum. Keep up the bad work!
  18. No, they use silk now and hire illegal mexicans to do their protesting against the blacks... it's more cost effective.
  19. LOL... that video is awesome Eagle.
  20. I actually have two copies of this pos game sitting around. One was my copy then my cousin gave my brother a copy as a birthday gift and he never played it any. Paypal me the mailing expense and I'll be glad to send it to anyone wanting a legal copy.
  21. Yeah, if you keep a fleet moving it can withstand maintenance failure for many turns. Just don't leave it in one spot long enough and not much to worry about. I remember playing multiplayer one time as imperial and was taking a beating, I had a 20+ star destroyer fleet sneaking up on to rebel HQ and totally overwhelmed his defense and won the game even though his systems outnumbered mine at least 10:1 and I had been in negative maintenance for quite a while. That is why HQ can be much more intimidating rather than having to capture the characters as well.
  22. Yeah Rob, it supports up to 4 players depending on the map. You can play as four, three, or two factions. Skitzso, ... good luck
  23. VirtualDub , nuff said.
  24. Anyone want to play a game of this steaming pile of crap with me for old times sake? Find me idling in #zoners on the irc.netgamers.org server.
  25. On the subject of Halo... does this count as too random...
