Well if an AT-AT is somehow available and the Imps have abandoned it, they would have to be some really dumb Imperials.

True, the main problem with the ISDs would be their rear. Without fighters, how could they prevent Rebel fighters from moving behind the ISDs an firing the proton torpedoes away?

Anti starfighter protection on capitol ships is nice and all...but I don't think it's quite as good as a few squadrons of defenders

Yep, and they easily could have afforded a good amount of them. Yet they belived so much in their capitol ships.....

But the "eltie" Imperial squadrons aren't going to be in many Star Destroyers. Seven years after Endor or so the Empire's fighter pilots are mostly inferior to the New Republic.

That is a definite advantage, because, as well all know, TIEs are no match for New Republic fighters and once the proton torpedoes start flying.....
