  1. I suck? Gank sucks? Or we both suck? Thousands of years on this earth, and we still haven't worked out how to get along with each other without needless killing, maiming, etc etc. That sucks!
  2. How the HECK didja manage that? The traffic is usually a nightmare. Did you use the force to clear a magical path?!?
  3. Yeah, kinda makes you wonder what goes on behind closed doors in the UN and other places.
  4. Interesting, where are you from by the way? I agree about the freedom of speech, but one of the things a lot of people forget is the way in which we are supposed to use that privilidge (sorry I can't spell). Basically we have a moral obligation and responsibility about how we conduct ourselves. Much as it is illegal to expose too much flesh in public, ultimately because it can offend others, we also have to be sensible about how much of our THOUGHTS and beliefs we expose in public. Burning a flag is highly symbolic. Essentially you are insulting everything that country stands for. To do it in a public place and take photos, as opposed to doing it in the privacy of your back garden, is pretty irresponsible. Whilst we have the right to free speech, that right is limited by our obligation to show respect for others feelings. I'm fairly sure that's common to all religions as well as Christianity, which is what our law is based on here in England.
  5. Okay I'm calmer now. However, I do stand by my point that the death of a person, a needless death, no matter how misguided they may or may not have been, is always always a tragedy. Gonk: A hypothetical. In fact I'll address this to all the Americans. In GB, certainly England, I'm fairly sure that someone burning our flag would be thought of as odd, misguided, a bit of a twat, and possibly arrested for disturbing the peace. Depending on the circumstance they may also have been charged with inciting racial hatred. In your opinions, how would she have been treated in America? Would she have been able to capture our attention like this is she had done it in her own country and hadn't died? In fact I'd like to hear answers from every country here. Thoughts please?
  6. Okay, I'm calm now. I still couldn't get the link to work. Gonk: A point for your consideration. Vigilante's and terrorists are unsettlingly similar. Though we tend to side with vigilante's they are still illegal. They claim to act in line with the law, in order to bring justice. However, they very act of bringing law breakers to justice when you are not commisioned by the relevant authorities is illegal. Technically they make themselves just as bad as the perpetrators, because they ignore the authority of the state. Here's the crunch point. In my opinion, that's almost exactly the same as a terrorist. The one difference being, is that terrorists sometimes go after innocent people to make their point. They too, like vigilantes, believe that what they are doing is right. They too, like vigilantes, use violence as a tool of fear and deterrence. They too like vigilantes are acting outside of the authority of the policing bodies. I may not be expressing this entirely how I mean to, or not quite as clearly as I want. But the point I'm trying to make, is that by their disresect of the authorities, are not vigilantes just as illegal and dangerous a terrorists, and therefore close to being one of the things you detest most? Thoughts please?
  7. It's gonna be a long long time at this rate.
  8. Um, hang on a sec guys. Seems to me that this girls death may not have been so ineffectual after all. If she did it in a place where she could make so little difference, how come we're argueing about it so much? I think I'm correct in thinking that if she'd done it in the USA she would have been arrested for disturbing the peace or something similar. It would have been small news. I don't think anyone has the right to call someone else a traitor for expressing their opinion. Certainly not those of us who don't know WHY she held that opinion. Call her a traitor, call her an enlightened soul who was trying to make a difference. BUT DON'T ANYBODY DARE TRY AND TAKE AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT AN INNOCENT GIRL WAS MURDERED!!! Yes I am cross. I don't agree with what she did in burning an American flag. I am inclined to agree with what she did in seeking to save someone's home. But ultimately I don't give a f**K because at the end of the day an innocent life was extinguished. And that's that. Forive my use of harsh language, but I'm upset.
  9. OOC: Mwah hah hah hah! We win again. Of course for the first few months the galaxy will be reeling from defeat after defeat!!!
  10. Nice of you to join us. Yes it was.
  11. That first link doesn't seem to work, so we're going to have to settle for; eh?
  12. Such a pity that people are unwilling to forget the past and try to move on isn't it? We can all hold grudges, but I think all of us know that ultimately they achieve very little. I am saddened that we have to resort to name calling and sarcasm to try and justify our opinions to each other. I would sincerely hope that in future we can try to set a better example to our peers by disagreeing calmly, instead of debasing our collective intelligence.
  13. Dinochick, I refer you to the General Conversation topic '1000 Posts!!!!!!!!'. We're all on holiday on a world called Haven. It's a paradise with seas of pink champaigne, houses of toffee and also rhubarb crumble. Tranquility and serentity. Come, join us on Haven. And there are no cats!!!
  14. Elvis NODDED his head in agreement. Elvis: "There are powers in the Rebellion who feel that they can be bartered with, however, I am forced to concur with you. I do not believe that they will be bartered with. Borsk believes that they can be talked to, but in the meantime I am to carry on conducting as effective a defence as possible. Though I do not like it, I believe that in this case, the most effective defence is going to be a strong offence." "As Lord Samos has probably informed you, we have a squadron of Jedi. I also have access to a large amount of ship. I suggest a combined fleet operation on a hunt and kill mission. We have facilities set up in the Tatooine system." "Now, if we are to do this, I recomend we implement a balenced fleet, with both Imperial and Rebel elements, along with joint planning between the four of us. What do you have in the way of ships that could be made available to such a force?" --------------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Vong persona is fun!!! Um, I think this might be the best way to go forward for the time being at least. Due to the earlier setting, Luke is still RELATIVELY young and headstrong, which means I'm going to have him condone proactiveness. Thoughts?
  15. And so she should. We do not conquor, we provide the freedom to chose, that is all.
  16. You gain insights from various seemingly flippant comments that he makes, and explanations of how Thrawn was found etc. I met him at the last Warlords and Grand Admirals Gathering. We was the center of attention, as everyone wanted to know what it felt like to be stabbed in the chest with a stiletto.
  17. No no. The GAME, battleship, you know, where you each position your ships on a grid, and then guess coordinate for where you want to shoot and you have to try and take out your opponents fleet before you do. They should make a Star Wars version, a little game on the internet!
  18. Any joy?
  19. What? A plaeyrin bol implant?
  20. Although 'Bloodhound Gang' with their song 'Fire Water Burn' comes a close second!!!
  21. I think the Mask has cracked it. Refering to games i've played, that rule seems to fit with what's happened.
  22. Supreme Overlord Shimrra twisted, balence, pary, jab, block, twist and balence. It was a rhythm taught him by his father, and his father before him. Shimrra danced through his opponents, making their final sacrifice. These men would die by the closest thing to a God they would see, before they met with Yun-Yammka himself. These men were not slaves, they were warriors, who had chosen this way to die, to honour their master, and their Gods, a sacrifice freely given to the Slayer. There was no greater sacrifice a warrior could make. Shimrra noted the effectiveness of his new arms. Though effectiveness was not yet all it would be, lethality was incredible, now it was simply a matter of inventing new techniques that would make use of all four arms in the most efficient manner. Finally all the warriors were dead, and an aide walked into the large sparring chamber. He was followed by a team of priests who would sanctify the bodies and give them their rightful disposal. Aide: "Overlord, we recieve news from Bespin. The planet is taken. All troops were slain, they served a cowardly commander and it was deemed that they were not worthy of sacrifice." Shimrra: "And who was it that made this decision?" Aide: "It was Rjiuvan Shai my Lord, he ordered that the opponents were unworthy." Shimrra: "A wise course of action. We would not want to offend the Gods by offering unworthy sacrifices. Send my commendations, along with a woman and a Plaerin Bol for him." The aide retreated from the romm, and Sumpreme Overlord Shimrra returned to his musings of the Eigth Cortex.
  23. OOC: Yeah that could be a few thousand deaths at least. Okay we'll go with that. I'm afraid that's a no can do on the rescue. In our new spirit of attempted cooperation it would hardly be constructive. Either they will have to let you go, or you will have to do it yourself, or you can join them. The choice is yours Padawan, you know which is right, in your heart at least. ---------------------------------------------------------- IC: Elvis shifted on his feet, concern appeared on a face with lines that spoke of his years on conflict. Elvis: "As with any biolgical being, there is always a substance that has a strongly adverse effect on it, however i do not think that this would be the best way to deal with the problem. Though we think that these creatures cannot be bartered with, i believe that we have a duty to try." Elvis didn't say that he feared the Empire would seek to eradicate this threat out of hand. Such an attack would be more monstrous than the Caamasi Event.... Elvis watched the different expressions on Loors face. Luke had told him the Loor would listen to what he said, and consider it. Apparently Loor was one of the few more objective officers in the Empire, who would listen to good advice even when it hurt his pride. However, Elvis wasn't sure what was the right advice to be giving at the moment.......................
  24. Yes, i think that'll do as our national anthem!
