None has come out yet because, well, the FoC ships have no precise scaling. The only theing you can possibly scale is the Executor and the fighters.

Well, I'll be releasing a mod which will try to re scale the units - it's quite hard to understand the scaling on the Consortium ships though as there is nothing really to go on. I am also aware that a few other public mods that are currently in the making like mine also have precise ship scales. (As well as scaled land units to boot) :)

What about the units from Warlords? Like the Dominator and Allegiance Star Destroyers. I know there are a good amount of mods floating around that use the units, but I haven't been able to tell if they are cannon scale.

I have thought though if you scale them to well, then the smaller ships will be hard to see and select on the maps. Well particularly in space. I am doing a rough idea of scale sizes in my mod but it will need much work. LOS if you want to help with that in the future - that would be good I need some help anyway with different bits of the mod because its a huge task to take on alone.

I actually planned to use the rescale mod for EAW and work from there. I'm ignoring the Consortium for now and working on the new units and Warlords ships from the Ships Addon mod 3.0. Some of them are quiet difficult because there is so little info on them. For example, the Titan Class Star Destroyer has never been seen. It was only referenced in the novels. So a little imagination is required. Let me know how you make, since I'm very interested.

Yes I have heard all kind of wacky claims on how big that ship is supposed to be. Its a a weird one for me too. Cause it's classified as a cruiser but its a Battleship or some thing... ?! - Some one mentioned a while back it is some thing like a bit bigger than an ISD MK II (and as you know an Imperial II class SD is quite big).

As you well know JC i will help when you need.

OK, good. Good.. I see no reason for you to become a mod team member if you can help with some parts of the mod if only to take some of the work load of me. I don't know what's happened to EAW Commander who was my partner on the SOTE project. But I will need you to add a few more planets for me in GC and also later on when were happy with all the land and space units - try and do correct scaling for the mod.

I'll get a beta to you asap.

Although this is slightly off topic, what do you guys think of the balance of the Ship Addon 3.0? My biggest problem is lack of data on a lot of the ships. I use the Star Wars Technicial Commentaries and the Ship Index at Galactic Voyage. Do you guys have any other resources that you use for stats on ships?

I use google  :P but seriously I mainly use wookiepedia for ship information - their not always accurate though sadly, or even worse in complete data. But If I can't find a ship I google it instead.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of re-scales. They make the game unplayable for me since stuff are so small/big. so...well, thats just me though.

Can someone point out why they're good? (please?)

I understand your point - but you wouldn't want in a game to see the providence bigger than a ISD or the Executor would you ? - some scale has to be done to make the game appear more realistic to the movies in my thoughts. I am doing some re scaling on the units in the mod were working on - but I am not going to stick to a strict re scale of everything. Because as you say some units will be un playable - and hard to select. I agree with you about that.

The other problem is that some units were never designed to be scaled down that small so the trouble then becomes that the engine glow becomes bigger than the actual ship. I can't accept that either.. Some compromises should be made were needed.

To make it look more awesome...I mean, how does one stand having TIE fighters so big that you could fit three in an ISD's hangar at the most? ;D

I also have a question regarding the setting. Is it safe to compare this value to other ships or is it model dependent? For example, in the original rescale mod for EAW, the ISD is 1.0, while the winged MC80 is .8. Using the Star Wars Technicial Commentaries as reference, and ISD is 1.6km long. Using this ratio, the original modder of the EAW rescale has the MC80 at about 1.28km long. In the Technicial Commentaries and other sites, the size is usually 1.2km. So am I doing something wrong in my calculations or can the different scale factors not be used for referencing? Any help is appreciated

*edit* After going over the original readme for the EAW rescale mod, I can see that the is different for every ship. So changed the factor of a fighter to 1.0 for example, will not increase it to the size of an ISD which also has a factor of 1.0. At this point I'm completely at a loss as to how to rescale any of the new models accurately. Also, the Executor is estimated to me over 11x larger than as ISD. To scale is properly, it would almost take up the entire map. So obviously, any input as to how to do this would be great.  ???

It is model dependent. However, you'll find most EaW/FoC models (originals from the game) are modeled near the same scale as they are in-game with relation to each other. Most of the fighters have the same size factor, for example.
