Look at the pictures! (Duh!) You will see that all of the X-Wings and A-Wings are in groups of five, Y-Wings in trios, Tie Bombers in groups of five, and Tie Fighters are in groups of seven. (I think this is all right)

I'm hoping this might be one of the things you can change with the XML files. I mean, I probably wouldn't use it myself, but it would make sense to have the ability. That way you might have more fighters etc per group just by changing the values to higher ones.

Oh god please.... Just because they don't have the "proper" squad number? I guess this is why I'm a gamer first and a fanboy second, small things don't ruin games for me.

 

I don't actually see a problem with cutting down the squad number, except it gets hard to select individual flights/squadrons in large scale dogfights. Heck, maybe you could lump in various flights to make a sqaudron or maybe the fighters in the screen aren't up to full strength. Anyways, I not going to make up anymore excuses, because I really don't care. Just so long as the game-play clicks I'm happy.

My thoughts exactly. Some of you are really obsessed with certain parts of this game that are not 100% "true to Star Wars". Get a life. :wink:

Still, having 12 would make each formation more then twice as effective.

 

Doubtful, as your opponent would have formations of 12 fighters as well, and probably armor and shield values on cap ships would be upgraded to compensate so as not to cause any imbalance. Basically, the same.

Well, I don't see any problem with this.

 

Squadrons are 12, yes, but I've always seen TIE's (for instance) attack in waves of 4 Fighters or Interceptors, and 3 Bombers in formation.

 

Squadrons can be split up into wings you know, which is what you see in EaW.

 

I'm sure a star destroyer will come with it's 6 squadrons (74 crafts). Right, Delphi? ;):P

well, personally i dont mind, it will be cool to with 5 or with more!, yust got to do more squads!!, like 20, you got 100 fighters!, its good for me

hmmm, are fighters able to fly on their own? like in make huge squads of TIEs and just charge an enemy fleet? or must there be a capital ship around? something like a capital ship being a brain and the fighters the limbs..? can anyone confirm if the fighters are independent of the bigger capital ships?
