Alright, I'm a bit ticked right now; I uploaded all of my video clips, imported music and voiceover stuff in all of the right formats for Windows Movie Maker, and then, as soon as I tried to move audio clips to the story board (The part that shows where what audio and video goes where) there's a system crash for Windows Movie Maker, and it informs me that it needs to shut down. I have all of the audio in MP3 format, which WMM is supposed to support, but it won't. Same goes for MP4s.

 

I can try one of two things, now; A) Convert all audio to WAV format (Pain in the neck) B) Suck it up and download version 2.0 of WMM on my computer and learn to use all of the newfangled technology in it. It'll probably be the latter, but I still just wish that the original would have worked as advertised...

Or you could simply use something else than Movie Maker. Granted i tend to use iMovie or Adobe Premiere but there are tons of other software out there (try Sony Vegas).

I know that problem very well. Convert all files to WMA and all will be fine. WMM hates WAV-files.

J, I think I've said it before, but if not, I'll say it now. You officially have the sweetest job of all of us, between this, that Darwin book, and the other stuff you get to see on a daily basis.

I could hug you, now, E! Thanks, man, that program worked great, got my narration in there just fine and got my credit music (Which, unfortunately, had to change to something far less silly) and got the whole video working!

 

While a few kinks that involved stupid lacking in the department of a bit of extra work by Windows to make their program better rose up, by and large the project went rather smoothly once I got it into the computer and working. Some parts came out worse than I'd imagined, others came out better; right now I think the credits turned out the best (Nightwish lent a helping hand, there) though (And this made me laugh when I realized it) they aren't completed and can't be completed at this time, because when my friend and I decided to shoot our credit scenes while we had nothing better to do, we inadvertently taped over it with the rest of the stuff we shot!

 

I have to recharge my camcorder, now, then head over to his place so that we can re-shoot our credit scenes, but otherwise, Road Trip from Hell's Pilot episode is completed! I'll post it up here if not today, then probably tomorrow.

Be on the lookout for Directors' Commentary later on! This was a lot of fun to make (not so much to edit) and there will certainly be more! If you're lucky, I might even figure out how to make them more professional-looking so that they don't hurt the eyes as much.

 

Script #2 was cancelled on account of too much not-funny mixed in with funny. That and the fact that 7/11 would likely kick us out if we tried as much. The next episode should be written and directed by Adam.

Use some effects for the cuts next time so it looks more smooth and not that cut up like in some scenes. But all in all the best video up till now. Very funny.

@Tofu: That was great work man. You kept a fairly straight face the entire time. One of the hardest things to do when acting like a moron (I could rarely keep a straight face). Bravo. I look forward to the sequel.

First off: @ Everyone: Thank you!

 

Second off: Please actually comment on the video if you liked it. The other two actors (Todd and Adam) don't visit the forums, and they'd like to get positive feedback as well (Or even "Mind-numbingly stupid. Buisness as usual." comments. )

 

Thirdly: I did use a microphone, Mad. Or is "mic" supposed to refer to something else? I used the mic for all of the voiceovers where I gave little bits of commentary, as well as for the "Oh, son of a bitch!" line when everything goes dark.

 

I used audacity to record it, then converted it to an MP3, then converted that to a WAV file so WMM wouldn't have a fit and freeze up on me.

 

I think I have a solution to make the next ep. run smoother in the sound department; I'm going to go see if it works, now...

 

Edit: Okay, so Audacity can't take Realplayer files and just use the sound from them. On the up-side, it makes a really cool robot-like noise when it plays the file it gets, though!

I was actually suggesting using a seperate mic instead of the Camcorder's built in one. The sound should be better.

Here's something Random: Me having computer problems that may not relate to just having Vista!

 

I've been keeping track of the available room on my computer the past week or two and for some reason, without downloading any large ammounts of files or installing any games i've dropped from 157 gigs free space to 145gigs as of today.

When I checked it last night it was 146. I seemed to be losing arround 1 Gig per day.

 

2-4 gigs I could shrug off as just having been from re-installing a game and from downloading music off Napster. But 12 gigs?!?!?

 

(Most of my MS paint drawings that i've been doing have been saved in gif format so that probably totals 1mb worth that I've done in that time. )

 

Found and cleared out my Temporary Internet Files but that only totaled 50mb.

 

(We need a tech support thread guys. )

Download HiJackThis, install it in a separate folder, than click on "none of the above, just start the program". Save the logfile, copy the logfile and pm it to me, though it´s much too big to post it here in the "randomness-thread".

Nothing springs to mind Def. Loosing a gig a day is quiet a lot, and I'd be a little surprised if it were due to malware. Still, I wouldn't be that surprised if it were the case either

 

Does Vista, or your computer, have a form of "auto-backup" perhaps? I recall with the last laptop I used, I lost around 19gig of HDD space until I realised that it had been backing up the computer.

Bud and E99 would probably be the most knowledgeable in this department.

I've only been using Vista for about a week or so. I've not tracked my usage, but no where am I taking so much space at once. My guess is Vista does a lot of background indexing to speed up searches. That's where the disk space might be going, but 1 GB per day?

 

I use a program called JDiskReport to see where all the clutter is on my drives. Very handy. If you notice anything rather large, it could be Vista's storing it own data, doing backups, etc.
