Speaking of academics, I just registered for classes for next semester. I normally get all the classes I want (not that I'm spoiled or anything... ), but because of my transfer, I am still classified as a sophomore; had I remained at my old university (there's a laugh!), I would be going into my first semester of my senior year... In any event, I was able to get the following classes of interest:

  • Art History 311 Design of Cities: Rome
History 300 Historical Methods and Studies of Urban and Suburban America

I have other classes, of course, but those are of interest.

Also, I am waiting responses on getting into:

  • Art History 420 Augustan Era Roman Art
    History 635 Alexander the Great

The latter-most is a graduate course. :D

Just thought I'd share...

Wow, your only five years my senior, college junior! I'm still a sophmore, but everyone thinks I'm a senior for some reason. (Even some of them who have known me for my full two years in High School)

I don't, kid. I thought you were Freshman or in 8th grade. And I'm not only five years your senior, I just happen to be back a bit because of the transfer. I'll likely catch up with my peers over the summer.

Ah, so your older than me, but slower in your education? Just teasing you, mate.

So what new and interesting stuff can people tell us as a result of their new majors?

Something I feel i must tell you Tofu... not to defend SOCL but to tell you so you can tell all your friends in high school so you can save some frustration later in life... college may have the freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior designations and they say it lasts four years... but in reality.. most degree programs are over 4 years, and your class designation is dependent upon hours taken.. not years there.. so you can be a junior for two years depending how many classes you take... and if you really want to graduate in four years you either have to be willing to take 15 to 18 hour semesters which is VERY unrealistic in the long run.. or take summer courses.. which all become increasingly difficult as you advance in your major... for the most part..

@ SOCL- Now you have some nice classes that are even more nit-picky than mine. The Augustin art one sounds pretty interesting.

@Tofu- For some reason, I'm one of those weirdos who thought you were a senior. In fact, I'm sure you've said it at some point in time. DAMN YOU!!!!!

Thank you for explaining that, JediHunter, despite the fact you seem to dislike the idea of defending me... :?

 nah, i dont dislike defending you.. i just didnt want to step on your toes.. or speak for you.. so i was stating that my rant was not necessarily to defend you.. i should really slow down when i type in here.. although being at work i cant always type in here slow..

  • 3 weeks later...

I am ressurecting this in order to moan about the final weeks of school.

I am not looking forward to finals week. I have three finals on next next Monday, back to back. And these three finals are the 3 I will be studying for. And it all starts at 8AM :x .

Then theres my papers. I have 2 due. One is almost done, which was a 15-pager comparing and contrasting the Roman Republic to the Germanic northeners. That wasn't too bad.

My other paper is a 6-pager about the smallpox epidemic in America that lasted from 1775-1782. I gotta write about why this should be included in discussion in a course devoted to colonial America.

Blah to it all!!!!!!

Know who was involved, why the case was set up, the arguments of both sides, and the parts of the Constitution that supported them. Urg.

boring? yes... Useless? no... These are the cases that shaped America as it is today. I find them incredibly boring and impossible to memorize sometimes, but it is good knowledge to have... IMO...

I find that memorizing a case word for word can make you overlook certain options. Learning law simply by theory is just as boring but it then becomes easier to look at several options with an open mind. But I must admit that learning cases can avoid you making the same mistakes as people did on those trials.

..I'm guessing hes just having to learn stuff like.. Peterson v. Pennslyvania (not real.. just made that up) and like that it involved the first amendment and Peterson was for freedom of speech in a certain context and the state was trying to censor him... Or something along those lines... so.. yea.. very mind numbing... i fortunately didnt have to memorize nearly as many as Tofu is mentioning.. just a couple... oh and BTW... i like the avatar change up you did Mad.. hehehe.. very nice..

Yeah, and all the Chief Justices. Like Warren Burger...mmmm...burger...

I also think the new avatar is supersweet Mad.

Fortunately we need only know the current Supreme Court. (Please don't die, members of the Supreme Court... Please don't die, please don't die...)

I personally agree with JH- they're a bitch to learn, but good to know. Every citizen should know their rights, or else what are those rights for in the first place?

Oh yeah? Well maybe I want to exercise my right to be ignorant!

At least you have a choice Rob, some people are just born with it (being stupid, that is; which isn't technically the same as ignorant) :lol:No names have been mentioned to protect the stupid The may (or may not) know who they are :D:lol:

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
