Eagle Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The Hobbit? No, I don´t have to wait for that. I meet that guy every day here in the forum. Or better say, those two guys. Rob and Tofu. Who cares at all?!
Krytos Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I saw The Mist yesterday, I was actually rather surprised by how much I liked it. I only really saw it because of a friend, so was expecting a lame thriller/horror. But, it turned out to be a lot better. You can tell that the screenplay was based on a novel, the settings, context and dialogue all show this and nothing feels too lame (even though a lot that happens in the movie is cliché due to the novels age). The first time I saw the mist actually attacks someone I let out an audible sigh after thinking 'it' was very lame. However, the dialogue and character interaction after makes you forget it, and eventually when death and destruction comes back to the story the mist has grown in character (so to speak). The ending is a real kick in the butt, I'll leave it at that Oh, and people who've play Half-Life 1 will draw some story parallels towards the middle/end of the movie. Damn I wanna play Half life 1 now http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif

DarthTofu Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 A hobbit? Me? I stand at a towering 6' 4" (A little over two meters) and eat iron rebar for breakfast! I am a giant among men, a god among mortals! My left hand is thunder, my right is lightning! Thor trembles at my approach, Val Halla shudder at my rage, and all Middle Earth knows of my power! I AM GOD! ... I want to see the Star Trek one, oddly enough, though I'll wait for some reviews before I go to see it. It's almost midnight here, but I still have work to do. I hate my life. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Mad78 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Considering the level of the last ST movies I am not expecting much. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Darth_Rob Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 I never watched the series too much, but I really enjoyed First Contact. It was my first time being introduced to the Borg, and I liked them and their concept a lot. I really liked that movie... Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Eagle Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Yes, I also love this movie. Best Star Trek-Movies:The Wrath of KhanThe Voyage Home (maybe the best of all!)The undiscovered CountryFirst Contact You could say that every second Star Trek-Movie is good. But you can´t use that term anymore since "Insurrection", though the follow up, "Nemesis", also wasn´t that over the top. Who cares at all?!
BadSamaritan Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Overall, the only Star Trek movie I want to see come out is one having to deal with Deep Space 9. I hated the last series with a passion, and Voyager came to a beautiful end, leaving next to no room for a movie there. But the final episodes of DS9 left a few things unanswered, which is just enough for a movie. Finally watched Transformers, and that movie was a disgrace to the original series. They screwed up Bumblebee and Optimus, ruined any chance at a good sequal, and left out so many Autobots and Decepticons that I almost cried. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

DarthTofu Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Told you so. The same guy is directing the new Star Trek movie. Now are you interested in it? The new movie The Hobbit (sp?) has potential, I suppose. Out of Tolkein's books it was the only one I can honestly say that I enjoyed- the LOTR trilogy (books) did next to nothing for me, though I did read all three. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted February 17, 2008 SWR Staff - Executive Posted February 17, 2008 I wasn't much into Transformers as the cartoon. Sure I enjoyed the toys though. That being said, the Transformers movie was well done... better than I would have thought. They definitely left room for sequels.. they pretty much said that this would be only the first of the Autobots and Deceptions arriving on Earth. I'd expect they would introduce more of them as actual characters. Darth_Rob Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 We saw Jumper yesterday. It was better than I thought it would be. It was pretty good, and leaves itself open for a sequel, which is a good idea since they didnt explain how the some people have the ability to "jump". The cool thing was that I got to see the trailer of M. Night's new movie "The Happening". It actually looks decent. It appears that the U.S. suffers a chemical attack, but the "twist" (like all his movies) is that eventually it is realized that its not a chemical attack, and they show you people flying through the sky. So who the heck knows whats going on in that movie. I'll definitely check it out. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Darth_Rob Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Jumper was actually good? I'll have to check it out... I walked in expecting less. The movie was decent. The effects were fairly sweet, SLJ was as bad ass as usual...it was good. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Darth_Rob Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 But aren't you guys just drewling in the anticipation of seeing Smaug on the big white screen? I will be looking forward to it, as long as he doesn't look like a giant CAT. I was sooo upset when I was younger and saw that Smaug looked like a cat... Darth_Rob Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Its from the animated movie "The Hobbit" from 1977. I have it on VHS and DVD. Its very lame, with poor sound quality. I had the VHS for...well, forever, and I upgraded to the DVD when it was released a year or two ago, just for nostalgia's sake. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Darth_Rob Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Oh, Im sure he will. I had little to complain about the work he did on the trilogy, except for the death of Saruman (which he fixed in the extended edition of Return of the King) and the absence of Tom Bombadil in The Fellowship. SOCL Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Won't Jackson still be producing and writing the movie? EDIT: Scathane, perhaps your powers of BEAK are weak. Eagle Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Arrgh! I totally forgot to write it last week: One of the most seen actors has died two weeks ago much too early. Unforgetable for his role in "Jaws" and in many many other movies and TV-Series. R.I.P. Roy Scheider Meanwhile another icon in the history of movies died: R.I.P. Roy Chapman. Best known for his role as the "Creature of the black Lagoon". http://www.cryptomundo.com/wp-content/uploads/creature1-1.jpg I´ll never forget both of you, though I grew up with your movies and still love watching them at any time. Who cares at all?!
