That makes no sense, Battlestar Galactica was out before Star Wars, no? :)

The series aired right after Star Wars.

George Lucas eventually became concerned that Galactica would be too much like Star Wars, and he had Galactica producer Glen Larson agree to avoid doing certain things. One such example was that the laser fire would not be the think beams that were seen in Star Wars. However, this still did not prevent Lucas and Fox from eventually starting a lawsuit against Universal claiming that Battlestar Galactica was an infringement on Star Wars. The lawsuit stated there were 83 points of similarity between the two such as the bond between Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

Lucas lost the lawsuit. It's pretty hypocrital considering that Lucas "inspired" himself on Hidden Fortress for ANH's plot.

Sorry for the delay:

What kind of show is Northern exposure?

Northern Exposure Description:

This tv show was a comedy series about a young man from New York City who agreed to serve as a doctor in Alaska for 4 years in return for a medical school scholarship. While not thrilled about living in Alaska, he was assured that he would be serving his time in Anchorage, the closest thing Alaska could offer in civilization. Unfortunately, he had failed to read a clause in the contract that said he could be assigned elsewhere if a smaller city had no doctor. When their Doctor died, he was assigned to the backwater town of Cicely, population 500! He became totally irate and tried everything in his power to get reassigned back to Anchorage! When he realized that there was no way out, he reluctantly reported to Cicely and its residents that were nothing like anything he ever experienced in New York. ER, Everwood. Never heard of it. could someone please explain the story of these shows.
Everwood's drama....

ER: Set in Chicago, this hour-long medical drama deals with the personal and professional crises of the doctors in the emergency room at County General Hospital. From the exciting to the mundane, a day in the frantic hospital serves up many interesting dilemmas as well as heart-rending choices for everyone on staff.

Everwood: Dr. Andrew Brown's (Treat Williams, Hollywood Ending, The Late Shift) own life changed forever the day his loving wife died. Up until then, he was a world-renown neurosurgeon whose career always overshadowed his obligations as a parent. When he was faced with the daunting task of raising his two kids, pre-teen Delia (Vivien Cardone, A Beautiful Mind) and teenage Ephram (Gregory Smith, The Patriot) by himself, Andy traded in the New York skyline for the breathtaking vistas of the Rockies to settle in Everwood, Colorado, a charming and picturesque little town tucked in among majestic snowy peaks.

When Andy opened up a free clinic for the citizens of Everwood, popular opinion was that he had lost his mind, but that didn't stop one local character, Edna (Debra Mooney, Tootsie), from applying for a job as his nurse and office manager. Andy's welcome wagon consisted of just three people: Edna, her husband, school bus driver Mr. Irv (John Beasley, The Apostle), and Andy's new neighbor, Nina Feeney (Stephanie Niznik, Guardian Angel, Vanishing Son). The person most disturbed by the new clinic was Edna's son and the only other doctor in town, Dr. Harold Abbott (Tom Amandes, television's The Untouchables (2003)). Dr. Abbott quickly forbade his wife Rose (Merrilyn Gann, Best in Show) and teenage children, Amy (Emily VanCamp, The Ring 2) and Bright (Chris Pratt, the upcoming feature film Strangers With Candy) to have anything to do with the Brown family.

Smallville, Futurama, Family Guy .. the new American Dad seems interesting, but will have to see how it develops.

I don't watch too much TV. Monty Python episodes are always fun.

Thx for the explanations DC.

Battlestar Galactica didn't work for one reason was that it was a weekly show. This stopped scripters from making good scenarios due to time constraints.

Count me as one of the weirdos who actually liked the old Battlestar Galactica. I thought their fighters (Vipers) were pretty neat, and Starbuck was just cool.

Now Galactica 1980...that's a completely different story. :?

TIE pilots shake at the sound of my name! ...Hey, wait! You're not supposed to be shaking with laughter!

Which way did they go? How many of them were there? How fast were they going? I must find them! I am their LEADER!

Don't mind the occational Law and Order, I'm a fan of the original CSI though can't stand Miami and New York seems to be very simular to Miami (first epidsode aired last night)

I like the Monty Pythons, I mean who doesn't?

Faulty Tower's was a classic, shame there was only 13 episodes - in Year 12, my Senior School Cooridinator loved it and would use it to "teach" us lesson

Didn't like Smallville much if at all, though Futurama was great (why do the good shows die young?)

On the plus side, Battlestar Gallactica starts tonight!

Oh, I remember the Dilbert tv series.. man was that good even only 2 seasons. I love the comics, and the series had the best voice acting. I think they got Dilbert just right... and Dogbert was awesome.

And I can't remember if anyone has already mentioned X-Files, I am to lassie to reread everything to check so I teak the risk of repeating my self, but I think it is for a good cause. I couldn’t sleep knowing that the “X-Filesâ€
