Trejiuvanat Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 The original TIE and Maul's Infiltrator were pretty cool as well. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 30, 2004 Author Posted July 30, 2004 The Sith Infiltraitor was cool looking, but we really don't know what it's capabilities are. We don't even know if it had shields. It can't have been too good in any case, because it dissapeared in the later movies (unless GL plans on replacing Vader's x1 with the infiltraitor) History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
BadSamaritan Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 GL cant replace Vaders x1 with an infiltraitor. the Infiltraitor was a much larger vessel that any TIE fighter. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted July 30, 2004 Author Posted July 30, 2004 But that doesn't mean he can't replace the x1 with it. If he's going to be changing the Battle of Yavin around and adding more CG fighters, anything is possible. I suggest we let this topic rest for a while. I'd value the input of Fishy, Darkie, Mad..ie and others who aren't here right now. Oh, and Trejie too. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
ADarkJedi44 Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 The Sith infiltrator was pretty cool, but I don't think it was designed with space combat in mind. It's strength was stealth.Shut it down? Well...ok Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
BadSamaritan Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Hey, if they want to be losers and not be on the site 24/7, thats fine by me. Us 1337 players though, we can continue this conversation all night long. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. ADarkJedi44 Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Umm...Fishface...what was that supposed to mean? Comments like that might get threads locked? Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
AdmiralFishface Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Hey, if they want to be losers and not be on the site 24/7, thats fine by me. I was responding to that.Sorry, should have made that more clear. Aww, this is not my time for humour. I should just leave it, right? ...losers...hmph. Now where were we? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/RiesstiuIV/Krempel/trapaure.gif
Mad78 Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Those who have played SW Starfighter may know that you can unlock the Infiltrator. It is the most powerful ship in the game. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
ADarkJedi44 Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Yeah, but that's a game. I really don't see the Sith infiltrator going at it in the trenches.... Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
Lord_La_forge Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 The Sith Infiltraitor was cool looking, but we really don't know what it's capabilities are. We don't even know if it had shields. It can't have been too good in any case, because it dissapeared in the later movies (unless GL plans on replacing Vader's x1 with the infiltraitor) Good point. We are writing 2004, and GL has to produce some cool looking, HUGE, or strong ships to impress the crowd. But if we think about the timeline, it could be, that the infiltrator is not much better as a simple TIE Fighter. SW timeline is a bit hard to manage however. Just think about Kotor. I think it was 20-30 thousand years before ANH. Still, there were TIE like ships with laser cannons... and a ship looking like the Mill. Falcon... Perhaps we just leave Kotor out of sight
Trejiuvanat Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 The Infiltrator is much bigger than a TIE, you could label it as a shuttle or light transport rather than a starfighter. As for that game, which I haven't play, well... we know how imaginative game designer can be. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
ADarkJedi44 Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 I think KOTOR was 4 set four thousand years before ANH. Games can't really be depended on for realisim. The sith infiltrator is definatly closer to a transport than a fighterr Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
BadSamaritan Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 I always thought of the Infilitrator as more of a shuttle than anything else. I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.
Mad78 Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 A shuttle with strong cloaking capacities. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted August 2, 2004 Author Posted August 2, 2004 Stealth, no cloaking. Except for the Thrawn trillogy, ther eare no cloaking devices in Star Wars. I think it is more of a glorified shuttle, since it too big to be a fighter. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Trejiuvanat Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 In the TPM novelizations it states that is possess a cloaking device. And there are other vehicles with cloaking devices, remember that comment made by Captain Needa during ESB? http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted August 2, 2004 Author Posted August 2, 2004 Yes, but remember that the Empire did have access to cloaking devices because of what was stored in Mount Tantis. However, you would have to be privy to that information (like the captain of a Star Destroyer in Death Squadron) to know about it. What needa says directly contradicts anything in the TPM novels. "No ship that size could have a cloaking device". You could take it that no ship that big could have a cloaking device, butsince the Falcon isn't that big, you must assume he meant no ship that small could have a cloading device. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Trejiuvanat Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Or the contrary, cloaking devices could be meant to be for starfighters, and a ship of that size could be too big for a cloakind device, only Lucas know. (Let's ignore TIE Fighter, because we all know how LEC invents stuff to break continuity). http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Mad78 Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 In ESB he must be referring top a stealth device which makes ships disappear frm radar. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted August 4, 2004 Author Posted August 4, 2004 That is possible, but he does say cloaking device. WHo knows, there are lots of contradictory statements in the movies that make it very difficult for fans to figure out what the hell is the truth. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
Mad78 Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 BTW If the empire didn't have cloaking shields how did they build those strange ties that you see in rebel assault 2? http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Trejiuvanat Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Games shouldn't be considered canon. There were also some cloaking shields in TIE Fighter, the modified V-38s from Reb Assault II. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Mad78 Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Maybe the Imperials kept just a few shields for experimentation. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
