Jahled Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Don't get to excited. I was so bored last night that when an Alliance system realised the folly of their ways and declared neutrality, I kept playing back the event message and heared the words: 'Shit happens,' right at the end. Gosh, I must have been more bored than I imagined. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
UntimelyDemise Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 No kiddin? I'll have to check that out... I asked back in the semi-old forum about eggs...like when Luke is assigned to a mission when he is on Tatooine and says the Toshi station line. Anybody else have any eggs they've found? the_mask Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Oh, so THAT's where he says that line Ever found things like 'Hermitage', 'Alliance jail' or 'Dagobah', they are also in the dlls, but I don't know, if they are left-overs or really being used by the game. We should put Dagobah into the TC, btw cause it appears in the Thrawn series http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
UntimelyDemise Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Yes, I'd love to know if any of those are in the game... the_mask Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Sad that we can't add a line to Vader, when he's on Tatooine, like 'Now this is Podracing'... http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Darth_Officer Posted November 28, 2002 Posted November 28, 2002 I'm sure there are eggs in there that were never activated by the programming staff. I will do a formal analysis and see if I can find them. I have plenty of time. I'm ageless Picard. You are not.
holdan Posted November 28, 2002 Posted November 28, 2002 I'm not sure about the games because whenever I played Star Wars video games I would get frustrated and throw the controller at the television... but we're not discussing that right now. I know that in ANH Luke calls Leia "Carrie" when they're all celebrating in the hanger right after the Death Star was destroyed (I believe that's when it is). However, I think most people already know that. One song to leave behind...
TK421 Posted November 29, 2002 Posted November 29, 2002 George Lucas could have changed that Carrie line when he made the SE, but he said in an interview that Mark Hamill does NOT says Carrie... Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...
Jahled Posted November 29, 2002 Author Posted November 29, 2002 Say, I was just using Resource Hacker to go through the STRATEGY.DLL filder and I came across some images i've never come across in the game. Anyone out there seen them during game play, and if so when do they occur ? -1006 (a rebellion of some kind) -1066 (Bounty Hunter, Luke/Han/Leia/Chewie & Vader) http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Jahled Posted November 29, 2002 Author Posted November 29, 2002 Sorry , and 1067 similar to 1066. Just curious. Any ideas guys ? (and girls) http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
TK421 Posted November 29, 2002 Posted November 29, 2002 There are no girls here.. sadly. Also one thing that irritates me is that it never happened in a game I played (and there are many games Rebellion I have played) that Han Solo was captured by Jabba, or his friends coming to rescue him Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...
Jahled Posted November 29, 2002 Author Posted November 29, 2002 Found loads more WAVE files, check out ALSPRITE.DLL; Leia saying: 'Call this a rescue,' and 'Put that away before you get us all killed,' from the film but WHERE ande WHEN in the game.... 1339/1340/1341/1342/1343/1348, also Boba Fett delivering Solo to Vader : 1033. Any body come across these during a game? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
holdan Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Quote George Lucas could have changed that Carrie line when he made the SE, but he said in an interview that Mark Hamill does NOT says Carrie... *shrugs* That's what it sounded like to me. Maybe just George wants to hide the fact that he messed up? (I'm trying to rationalize everything in my mind tonite, give me a break ) TK421 said: There are no girls here.. sadly. *points to self* I may not be the most well known or prominant member here, but yeesh, I'm still certainly "here." 'Barely any' would be more "politically correct" (though we care not currently speaking about politics, ehh, that's okay... gotta love the quotation marks anyway!). One song to leave behind...
Jahled Posted November 30, 2002 Author Posted November 30, 2002 Following on what I was saying, I have my theories as to when these sounds might occur: Fett delivering Solo to vader- perhaps a second successful 'legendry bounty hunters' capture of Solo (he's already been before Jabba), Leia saying those lines- if she's imprisoned on the Death Star during rescue attempts (this one might not be so hard test out). SS-Officer: You said you were going to look into this, any joy? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Knightcrawler Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I think someone needs to put these images and .wavs onto a site somewhere. Hello
the_mask Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I had the dlls mapped out and I wanted to bring this "index" ( feeling a bit like Dr. Evil today) on my site for my dll editing team, but my provider won't let me put things to my site today... The pic with Boba and his captives should appear, when all of these are captured by Jabba and he delivers them to Vader. I once had Han captured and Leia went off to the rescue. Luke was in hyperspace at that time, but I don't think he ran off as well when he came out. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
UntimelyDemise Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I say we build a super weapon I like to call a "laser" and put it on the moon, which we will rename the "Death Star". Then we will hold Earth for ransom for... ONE MEEEELLION DOLLARS! Oh, excuse me...we were talking about dlls weren't we! Jahled Posted December 2, 2002 Author Posted December 2, 2002 A gallery from the game, now that's a good idea. There is one picture i'm really curious about, among the system uprising pics. It's of two people hoisting a flag against a city background (Coruscant?). Something that's never happened in any game i've played is the Empire loosing then recapturing Coruscant. Could this be the picture you get? Does anyone know? (Does anyone actually care?) Deeply troubled by this critical question I moved my fleet of ISD II, the Knight Hammer, numerous gunboats, and the Stormbringer Eclipse-class Star Destroyer (>one serious model guys...though the new Star Destroyer has to rank as the best) away fromn Coruscant to Balmorra, along the Emporer. I evacuted all planetry defense and waited...and waited...heck, I evan put a captured Mon Mothma as added incentive, just to get the Alliance to invade. I waited for about a hundred days, and the Alliance still didn't invade. Stupid computer. Grumble...grumble. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Jahled Posted December 2, 2002 Author Posted December 2, 2002 The more I check for replies on this subject, the more I realize i'm talking to my self..... isn't anybody curious about obscure and hidden elements in the game? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
UntimelyDemise Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Actually, you're not talking to yourself...I'm listening! I've been interested in what those DLLs were for a long time, but just haven't had the motivation to test some possiblities...real life seems to take a lot out of me... Some of these events have never been seen by anyone, no matter how many times they've played, so I'm thinking they were originally in the game and were taken out before release to improve smooth gameplay and speed. Why they didn't take out the DLLs is a good question, unless they thought sometime in the future someone might stumble on them and try to work with them for a sequel or upgrade. This is completely my own theory, however; since I have stumbled onto things in the game even in the last couple of months that blow my mind. It seems the creators of the game had a lot of fun putting in events that only happen if everything is right...like certain statements made by Luke only when he is on Tatooine, for example. I've tried taking some of the characters to different planets and trying different missions, but have had no luck in finding some of the more interesting "events". That doesn't mean they don't happen, it just means I haven't figured out the perfect fit, yet. Perhaps multiple characters need to be involved in the mission, etc. Nevertheless, we are listening...we're just as stumped as you are. Zag Fel Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Rebellion isn't alone in that regard. For instance, the creators of StarCraft left incomplete units of a cargo freighter, gunship, spaceport buried inside the game.
Knightcrawler Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 There are some for Command and Conquer: Red Alert's expansion, Aftermath, too. They are the Phase Transport and Helicarrier. They're really easy to hack "back" into the game, though. Hello
TK421 Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Hmmmz I didn't know that.. explain how to do that! Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...
the_mask Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Wasn't that the rules.ini file ? You can find it in the biggest file in RA2's folder (around 20megs). Just open it with Worpad, for example and scroll until you find text starting with rules.ini. Save all of the text with that name into the same base-folder and you can edit the behavior, armament, ....., ability to be built at all of every unit and building in the game. I made Migs with laser-guided, nuclear missiles back then. A lot of fun http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
