Diplomacy (mission)

From Star Wars: Rebellion Wiki Original 1.02

Diplomacy is a character mission in Star Wars: Rebellion that raises a system's loyalty, or popular support, for your side. It is the main peaceful way to bring neutral systems over.

How it works

Send one or more characters to the target system. The chance of success depends on the characters' diplomacy rating and on how loyal the population already is. Characters with high diplomacy, such as Leia Organa or Mon Mothma, do best. Characters with almost none, such as Chewbacca, have practically no chance.

Each success raises popular support. A neutral system may or may not join your side as a result. When the characters report back, you choose whether they keep going. The mission continues until the system supports your side completely. Unlike most missions, a successful diplomat stays at the target system afterwards instead of returning home.

Restrictions

  • Only friendly systems, or neutral systems you have explored, can be targeted. Enemy systems cannot.

  • The system must not be in an uprising.

  • If the system falls to the enemy or goes into uprising while the mission is running, the mission ends.

Strategy

The manual suggests basing a diplomat on a friendly system in a sector with several neutral systems, then sending them to each in turn to save travel time. Higher popular support also lowers a system's garrison requirement, so diplomacy helps hold systems you have already taken. Subdue Uprising missions raise support too, but much more slowly, and only in systems that are in uprising.
