The Redoubt

The Redoubt is a system of many planets in the Unknown Regions, inhabited by Chiss. No economy is recorded for it, and its isolated position keeps it hidden from the rest of the galaxy.

The Redoubt is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Amorris.

History

The Redoubt is a secluded, well-protected stronghold for people who want to avoid the conflict or pursue private ends. Its remote position made it a perfect hideout for smugglers, outlaws and others wanting to stay out of the galaxy's sight. Fortifications and a hidden location kept it shrouded in mystery. Whatever happened elsewhere in the galaxy, it remained a refuge for various factions and individuals.

In the game

In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Unknown Regions sector; the original game calls it the Quelli sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
