Geonosis
Geonosis is a hot, arid world of deserts, mesas and mountains, native to the Geonosians and home to creatures such as acklay, massiff, nexu and reek. Its economy covers raw materials, battle droids and technology.
Geonosis is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Tund.
History
Geonosis underwent major political and military change. Once instrumental in founding the Confederacy of Independent Systems, it lost most of its power and influence after the Clone Wars. The Galactic Empire took the planet, imposed harsh rule and converted its droid factories to Imperial purposes. Further military installations were built, tightening the Empire's grip. Even so, pockets of resistance survived, with some locals running secret operations to weaken Imperial control. The Geonosians, famed for engineering skill, were still exploited for their technical expertise as their once-flourishing society struggled under occupation.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Wild Space sector; the original game calls it the Xappyh sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
