Coruscant
Coruscant is a core system in the Sesswenna sector and the seat of Imperial power in Star Wars: Rebellion. The encyclopedia describes it as the galaxy's capital for generations: a world covered by the many-levelled Imperial City, whose foundations go back to the early Old Republic. The pyramid-shaped Imperial Palace, the Emperor's fortress home, stands taller than any other building, including the Senate. The lowest levels of the city were abandoned long ago to wreckage and shadowy inhabitants.
In the game
Coruscant is the Imperial headquarters. To win a standard game, the Alliance must capture and hold it and also capture Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. With the Headquarters Only Victory option, capturing Coruscant alone wins the game for the Alliance.
25th Anniversary patch
Coruscant is the only one of the game's 200 systems that keeps its name in the 25th Anniversary patch (3.0.9770). In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy it also keeps its sector slot and map position, so this article covers both versions.
Coruscant is a temperate ecumenopolis, a planet-wide city, home to native humans, Taung, Zhell and many others, with an economy built on food, medical services and culture.
Coruscant served as the capital of the Galactic Empire, a planet blanketed with enormous structures and soaring towers. After the Empire's founding, Emperor Palpatine drew on its infrastructure to hold the galaxy under his control, and it was closely watched by Imperial troops and dotted with military bases. Even so, Rebel agents kept carrying out secret operations there, and the world stayed an important battleground of the Galactic Civil War.
