Anaxes is an asteroid belt with cavern systems, best known as the site of Fort Anaxes, an ancient military installation valued for its defensive abilities and history.

Anaxes is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to H'nemthe.

History

Fort Anaxes is an old military installation that regained importance after a major galactic conflict. Its strategic worth had faded and it stood empty until several factions took it over to exploit its defences and its historic standing. It changed hands repeatedly during those unsettled years, and the fighting over it left visible damage. Restored and put back to work as a base for strategic operations and training, the fort once again counted in military affairs, and its renewed use showed how the balance of power kept shifting.

In the game

In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Crossroads sector; the original game calls it the Mayagil sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
