Luke Skywalker

From Star Wars: Rebellion Wiki Original 1.02

Luke Skywalker is one of the six major characters in Star Wars: Rebellion and the only Alliance character who starts the game as a known Force user. The encyclopedia introduces him as a Tatooine farm boy turned Jedi in training: a daring pilot, credited with destroying the first Death Star, whose growing command of the Force makes him one of the Rebellion's most valuable people.

In the game

Luke starts with strong combat ability and useful espionage and diplomacy, and he can lead fleets or ground forces as an admiral, general or commander. His loyalty is fixed at the maximum and he cannot betray the Alliance.

He matters to both sides' victory conditions. The Empire must capture and hold Luke, together with Mon Mothma, to win a standard game. Assassination missions can wound him but never kill him, and an injured Luke is easier to capture.

The Force

Luke always begins as a Force Trainee, the second of the five Force ranks (Novice, Trainee, Jedi Student, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master). At some point he leaves alone for Dagobah to train with Yoda and comes back stronger. The manual names one thing that can spoil the training: Han Solo being captured by bounty hunters and taken to Jabba's palace.

Darth Vader can spot hidden Imperial Force users from the start, but Luke has to grow stronger before he can do the same for the Alliance. He can detect a potential Force user only when they share a system or ship. He gains that ability before he is strong enough to teach. Once he is, he can take Force-aware characters on Jedi Training missions to raise their Force rank. A bombardment or assault on the training system aborts the mission.

Stats

The infobox shows Luke's values from the game's data file. They have no random variance, so they are the same in every game. The manual says character ratings run from 0 to 150 or more, and only key characters start near the top.
