September 26, 200521 yr I don't know if this has already been asked but : Will, or do you think, capital ship shields are counted as one whole shield or will there be fore, aft, and side shield components. That way your ship could lose starboard shields and roll to bring it's port side to bear while the starboard shields are brought back up. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
September 26, 200521 yr I think each targetable section of the ship has it's own shields. On smaller ships it's probably just one all-round shield. September 26, 200521 yr Well even with the sensors down why the hell did the SSD then lose shields ? Lucasarts error ? If a Tie Fighter didn't do nothing how the hell could a A-Wing do damage when shields were up ? I know one of the crew said bring it up but wasn't it already up ? Anyways I bet SD or other ships would have different area of shields since you'd need a massive generator for the hole area. 1 in front and 2 in the back and 2 in the middle for top and bottom (Guessing here dont quote me), then one massive power generating one for the tower. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
September 26, 200521 yr hmmmm i think there should be top, bottom, l side, r side, front, rear for ship sheilds. at least for the capitol ships anyways Its a trap! -Admiral Ackbar

Or one of the individual hardpoints for capital ships represents a shield generator on board and taking it down takes down the shields. To be fair I prefer to think its designed the way you say, but we really can't say. I wonder if Little.B noticed how they worked... September 26, 200521 yr It would be nice if there were a few gens representing each shield arc. but let's be realistic. From what i've seen from the vids, it's just 1 big shield bar, then hull. Maybe they did more, we don't know. -You seem to have an over developed sence of vengeance. September 26, 200521 yr Maybe the bar is just a general indicator of the overall status of the shields. You could still take 'em down in sections. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png

They are both shield and sensor domes. The one on the bottom protects the whole ship while the 2 ones on bridge are both sensor and shield. The shields are on bridge to protect it from dieing as it is the vital point on the SD class ships. Want me to explain more? Just pm me
September 26, 200521 yr errr........who designed the damn SD's in the Star Wars universe, they deserve a lesson in concealed defences............ -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png

September 27, 200521 yr Mh. I cant tell for sure if there are side, front etc. shields. One thing I noticed is that sometimes when shields were down to roughly 50% percent (the blue bar is down to the middle) there was also little damage done to the hull. But I cant tell why this happens because there was no indicator for this (side shields down or whatever) http://www.pexsus.com/~littleb/eaw/banner_eaw.jpgFeel the ForceIRC (QuakeNet): #empireatwar
September 27, 200521 yr Given the scope of this conflict, I don't think that the shields are going to be directional. They probably wont do the shields right anyway, going with the usual game idea that the domes are shield generators. They never were, they are sensors. The shields were actually projected from a network of little protrutions like antena all over the hull. September 27, 200521 yr The shields on the SDs are directional therefore by directing on one place you can take out the shields in one region and subsequently weaken them as the shields are redistributed from a free region to restore shields. Its called keeping them even. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
September 27, 200521 yr Don't some ships have the ability to re-route power to the shields? thatd be nice Its a trap! -Admiral Ackbar

September 28, 200521 yr Don't some ships have the ability to re-route power to the shields? Don't you mean like in Star Trek? Seriously though, if we have energy to re-rout to the shields, why wasn't it there in the first place when we went into battle? Never have figured that one out. September 28, 200521 yr Reason the A-wing took down the SSD was because the shields had been destroyed. In that moment, the A-wing crashed into the bridge (shields would have stopped that, recall) and it was depressurized (meaning everybody on deck = dead). Admiral Cotla CharreImperial Navy
September 28, 200521 yr mhhhm.... the domes on top of the bridge tower are the deflector shield domes, no sensors. You may read this in every vehicles guide. In fact I thought I remember how one of the SSDs two domes got destroyed and therefore the front shield failed. Indeed the shields are "projected" by a network of little antena, but the power needed to shield the massive SDs is produced inside these domes, one for the front and one for the back.
September 29, 200521 yr The books might have been changed once canon was changed as a result of the games, but I understood the first iteration of canon (silly Lucas) had them being sensor domes. September 29, 200521 yr I remember reading in one of the books, where a carack cruiser while under attack, diverted power to it's shields, the officer in charge of the shields even diverted power from the anti grav plating, to keep the sheilds online. I can't remember which book. Maybe the one with the si rook? -You seem to have an over developed sence of vengeance.
