Agreed. No one even dare go there with such file sizes! It's the quickest way to turn away newbies, and I for one as someone who has been around for a while quickly wouldn't! If you've got something that is absolutely blinding and simply must must be shared with the rest of us, link it the url method; not the img way! Members signitures are already causing me a headache, so url it!

 

For gif file size problems double check a few things beyond what Trej said; you can apply lossy about to 20% without loosing to much, reduce image size, reduce number of frames (obviously), and then consider your gif's coulour settings. Realistically, any gif above 150 k is worthless; given it's not immediately fun to appreciate, should have been done in Flash or what not not justify the file-size, and simply isn't fair on non-broad band users.

Does anyone have experience with converting movs to gifs?

I believe that Ulead GIF Animator (the one i used in the pictured tutorial before) has an option in the Animation wizard for that kind of thing.

I see. The problem I'm currently having is that when I import my files into ImageReady as frames, ImageReady reorders their order...

On most programs you can move the frames about to change their order. I don't use ImageReady but i guess there musn't be much difference between the different animators.

Try downloading Ulead. Its a shareware.

76 i would suggest you try to cut that down. In stead of using 4 images for an arm movement use 2. It will not make much difference if you lower the appearence time.

That seems feasible... I'm still not clear on how to save the file as a gif using Imageready...

Try Save AS and select gif as file format.

I think it was in Save Optimized As... You might have to tinker with the optimization previews for a while to render your PSD into 256 colors.

Not really, though you can see a small propeller prop at the front of the mower, and the handle bars at the back appear to be a tail fin. Still, how they loop and bank that thing is beyond me!

My guess is this. If you look at the place where the mower's engine normally is you can see its simply a kinda tunnel. They must have made a replica of a mower in a light material and then place a propeller in thgat tunnel. The front bit I think is mounted with two set of rudders which allow it to bank and turn.

Quite a feat!
