yes. they were crap in the game. A real platoon of AT-AT would be as strong as a regiment stormtroopers... stronger. A regiment is, 50 men?

 

But I think Bothan and Elom troops are cool. They appear in the Zahn books too (the Elom).

Yeah, those are the sorts of variations i was looking for, now we just need names and species/pictures etc...

I think the guy who did the original RebEd got it right, assuming; for example, each Imperial regiment contains troopers, mechanized-support, and limited atmospheric air-cover. My Imperial games contain:

 

Stormtrooper Regiment

Imperial Army Regiment

Commando Regiment

(War Droid Regiment)*

Dark Trooper Regiment

 

In that order from the outset...

Yeah, but you could replace the war droid regiment with an armoured regiment of at-st's at-at's and at-pt's, this unit would be particularly good for planetary assault, though not so good on the defensive as they are built to move around etc etc.

Yeah, i know what you meant, but if you think about it this would be the logical one to replace the war droids, all the other regiments might have like a squad of 12 atats, but this would have three squads of 12 making 36 or something.

I have Stormies, AT-ATs, AT-STs, Gamorreans (started as a joke at first), Royal Guardsmen for the Darktroopers, but since the royal guards were on the run at this time we can't use them.

Royal guards would be too powerful IMHO. There were what, less than a 100 in Crimson Empire and they took out several platoons of stormtroopers?

Yeah, and a Dark Trooper could in theory take out a rather large amount of Stormtroopers.

Excuse me, but is it stated somewhere what does the limited Force control mean in case of the darktroopers? Danger sensitivity for faster reaction and telepathy for faster, uninterraptable coordination maybe ...

When I get RebEd I planned to use Regular Infantry (garrison and police force "naval" troopers with probots or similar patrol droids), Inquisitor Division (stormtroopers, scout troopers and medium vehicles such as the AT-ST or the Chariot described by Mara) and Heavy Mechanized Division (AT-ATs).

I read somewher about the Arakyd Tank droid which was presented to Thrawn, but he did not accept it. I agrre him, since an AT-AT is nearly unstopable. (Espesially with vibroblades on its back legs. ) And the novel wrote that the technicians found some strange defence mechanism on Wayland that they were unable to use that time.

Didn't Wayland have a collection of all sorts of things that Palpatine had picked up which would presumably include Dark Side devices that the technicians wouldn't be able to incorporate, i thought that was what they meant?

I don't know what is a "Dark side device", but I think it would be more offensive than deffensive.

And it was not just a stored technology like the cloning or the cloaking device. This unknown defence mechanism was mentioned by Pellaeon when Thrawn asked about the energy and defence systems of the residency on Wayland right after the failed attempt to get Leia on Bimissaari in the novel Heir to the Empire.

Do you mean the guys in the red cloaks? That allegedly serve in regular StormTrooper regiments from time to time?

What about using guardsmen as Spec. units?

They would have to be very powerful and very expensive.

On that device I thik it was the defense mecahnism of Wayland, Batteries, etc... Since Thrawn was taking C'Baoth away the defense of Wayland depended on the fact that it reamined hidden, and the defense systems and the garrisons..

it is good enought when we use the stats of the dark troopers.. maybe a little bit higher

 

The mount Tantiss has its own defense mechanism, that is what Thrawn means

Was the dark trooper project continued after the destruction of the Arc Hammer?

If anything I'm sure Palpy would have taken at least to sets of armor, Phase I and II, and a complete set of schematics, and hid it in Mount Tantiss.

Well since the Imps use bounty hunters the Rebels *Cough* The New Republic should have Smugglers or Mercenaries.
