Uh, the weapon Luke's holding is the Merr Sonn knockoff of the DL-44. And Lucas used Mauser Automatic Pistols to simulate the DL-44 and Merr Sonn "Flash 5" (I think thats the right designation). :P

Yeah, just a little paint and some plastic parts glued on and you've got a DL-44. After post production of course.

the miracles of postproduction
Wouldn't you think that changing an existing gun into a scifi blaster by means of paint, tape, glue and what not is rather a miracle of preproduction than of post production, if a miracle at all?!
And no, that doesn't surprise me in the slightest about the guns. :D
Why's that?

Because i knew the Stormie blasters are modified Sten guns firing blanks, and if you look very closely apparently you can see the blank cartridges being ejected.

Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine...

No kidding? I never noticed that... In which movie was that?
I think what me and Mad meant by postproduction should be rather obvious. It ain't a blaster till they pencil in the blaster bolts

I was reading about it on a site that chronicles either four or two hundred bloopers across the OT and EpI.

Sure it is... If I were to say that I regularly post on the SWRebellion decorums, you would probably all understand it should read forums as well, but that still doesn't mean it's plain wrong... That, combined with trying to keep the beakiness of this site alive, moved me to post my korrection...

A gazillion?

No, can you give us an exact number?
A gazillion.
