  1. Meh, you can always use your corvettes as an uber-expensive hyperspace scouting units (when you like playing on larger maps)
  2. The Assault corvette was quite useful back in the day, since it had some useful "special powers". Maybe we need to make corvettes turn faster, or at least try and make them hard to shoot at.

    I don't see how the Rebels could win this battle tbh, I mean - wtf - they only have a few caps while the Imperials have 9 of them, plus plenty of cruisers.

    Yea, that's the bug I was talking about. Is there no way to bypass this bug with game settings, or will I simply have to play the ' ol mining-style?

    How do I fix this? I've tried downloading the most recent package from Filefront but this didn't seem to have any effect. I think this bug has been fixed before so it there any way to do it manually or by using a .big file from the 0.55 version?

  7. No, merely for sentimental purposes, corvettes WERE used in the fiction. Mostly used by privateers, the Corellian corvettes for example were ships seen alot in many fleets, usually for smuggling activities or merely as a sort of bigger and more luxurious long-range transport.

    Maybe try and recreate some classic battles from the movies and some of the books? That might be hard since in the original trilogy the only space battles you see are around the Death Star anyway, but the fiction has plenty to work with I think.
  9. Its all about building tons: Tons of units, tons of resource gathering buildings, tons of factories.

  13. He's talking about an entirely new PC! My best advice it to build it yourself, and indeed pick the Inter Core 2 Duo, the new 8800GTS, possibly the creative X-FI and 2GB's worth of RAM. That's what the top of the line is at the moment, you can always go for a cheaper solution of course.

Sorry if this seems like a noobish question, but how do star wars (starship) shields compare to shields seen in other sci-fi series such as 'Star Trek' or 'Stargate SG-1' do they block a certain amount of shots and then fail, or do they only block some energy blasts? Also it seems they either don't block solid matter (fighters, missiles) or they're enveloped around the ship rather then forming a "bubble" around it
  15. Looking great eville , though you might want to use AntiAlias 2x if you want to make the shots look that bit more smooth.
  16. Yes but I dont think that mode would actually work for this game, I didnt like it in EAW either.
  17. Well normally I like the "Dawn of War" style, but I dont think it would work for Warlords since your ships are continuously moving, thefore I pick the facilities (resource gathering -> research / building) mode instead.

  19. Fighter combat is an essential part of the game imo. If you ARE going to have to remove "regular" fighters and replace them with auto-spawning / AI controlled once, make it into a seperate game type, so that if we want, we can still build our own fighters and control them ourselves.

    Hamachi network

    As eville said it would work, how many people would be interested in starting up an hamachi network? This would be so that we can easily see who is online (if any) and invite / play each other in multiplayer games instead of pitting ourselves against that boring AI time and time again (no offense, but there's nothing better then a real human opponent).   24. Would be good, but they would need to auto-dock with the cap ships again when you go to hyperspace.
  25. I don't suppose you can start with a docked ship (ISD with docked TIE fighters?)
