  1. I figure you're all wondering what I'm up to on model stuff, well here's a little preview of a work in progress I have going.   2. Alright well, at the moment starbases use the stock race's names for stations. This isn't exactly the most correct thing in the world, and as such, I'm looking for names for stations of each faction! Also, the NR and Vong are also lacking in names. If you have any suggestions shoot away! I'll be adding in Hapes for the NR.
  3. That sounds similar to the Insurgency ability that the MC80 Diplomatic Cruiser has; unfortunately what you are suggesting simply isn't possible. You cannot "take" a planet from another player like you can with ships. Edit: ...Actually I should see if that's possible, to use Comandeer on planets. Not hopeful, but let's try it anyways!

  5. Normal or fast; your choice really. I use large fleet sizes out of preference, though regular or small works well, normal for all the other settings. One thing I'll note is that using small fleet sizes will reduce lag, or at least delay the infamous end-game lag. The main thing however, is the AI must be set to Hard or Insane; if it is not then it will fall flat on it's face. As SoGE's AI is not as capable as vanilla AI, I would suggest going with Insane.
  6. Nah, people post when there are issues. In terms of actual staff, me, Evaders, sloosecannon, and at times Nova, do indeed check the site. I'm simply the fastest one replying today.

    Update: September 2, 2011 | Revision: 613 Strings for all frigates have been added. Some frigate tweaks have been done; expect more updates within the next few hours, I'll be editing this post with updates, and the current revision. (R. 611) Pirates have been notably weakened. Please tell me how they are now. Imperial Dreadnaught's Slave ability has been nerfed, like the Pirate's. Lancer and Uumfalh have been boosted. (R. 612) Weaker Slave Circuit ability is now working as intended. (R. 613)
  8. The guy who mainly runs SoGE's mantis, EJ, has been AFK for awhile now. Just put in 1.01E, and list the current SVN Revision you are on in the report itself.
  9. The beta can be considered more of a 2.0E or 3.0E due to it's changes.
  10. No it's expected... Far more music and models nowadays. Blame Evaders for not updating the OP.
  11. Hrm. While they're different models; I could nab EaW's Y-Wing skin. Though that probably isn't a good idea. I'd be more than happy to have a texture-less Y-Wing; tis better than a B-Wing standin.

    I didn't expect a notable lag reduction... It'll help a little bit though. And yeah, you probably have too many ships already. Also, work on counterdesc strings has begun. Frigate strings have all been complete, I'd add them all to the SVN but they're not on my main computer, so expect them tomorrow.
  13. I use long passwords whenever possible; more secure and I can simply copy/paste them in. And yeah, they updated the skin today I noticed. It's much nicer. Evaders, have you heard back from Nome3D regarding the Y-Wing models? Also, I was also wondering if EJ has any of his models lying around in .3ds anywhere; I see a bunch of things in Warlords' DL section though I'm not sure if any of them are of use. I'm currently working on converting stuff from EaW to Sins; ConvertXSI hates me however.

    Update: August 31, 2011 | Revision: 610 Every faction now has their appropriate ability techs (ex. Advanced ECM) with "useless" ability techs removed. I don't know how much it'll reduce lag by however; I'm assuming that replacing dozens if not hundreds of ships with a blank mesh will help things a bit. I laughed at this.

    Update: August 30, 2011 | Revision: 609 Trade and Refinery ships now have a small black box as a model, in order to reduce lag. Trade, Refinery, and Constructor ships have had their stats changed up a bit as well.

    Update: August 24, 2011 | Revision: 608 Missile range tech now only has one researchable level, which yields a 12% range boost, same as the previous three 4% range boots. VSD II's main laser strength boosted by 20.

    Diplomacy

    If you really want to use it with Diplomacy, you'll have to add the line "allegianceDecreasePerRoundtrip 0.000" (0.0 can be changed to whatever) to all of the frigates/cruisers, use a different Gameplay.constants, update the Strings file (aka. add in the new strings Diplomacy uses), plus get the whole Envoy tech tree working. It isn't too hard to upgrade to Diplomacy, I could easily make a working Gameplay.constants and add the line, the tech would take time however. Though atm I'd much rather get the Entrenchment version done first, and I believe that it's fairly close to completion, NR frigate fleet notwithstanding.
  19. If you make 8+ Dreadnaughts they will all receive (assuming they are in range of the ability) a 40% increase in rate of fire and damage output. The Pirates have this on their Trafed II Frigates, and others.
  20. A bunch of the pirate's ships have the Slave rigging ability which makes them stronger than their regular counterparts.
  21. The current revision (you can see this after hitting SVN Update) is 607. Seeing this, I will start posting revision numbers in individual update posts.

    Update: August 19, 2011 Planet bombing damage for all ships has been doubled; this should make planet bombing more viable. Yorik-stronha, Scout Ship, Miid-Roik, and Sh'rip Sh'pa now have HUD icons.
  23. Not really, no. Some of the descriptions are also incorrect, such as the Munificient, which in fact has a lower planet bombing DPS than most ships, such as the Bulwark and Providence.
  24. Thanks, but this isn't what people mean by descriptions needing updating. The descriptions ingame are fine as it is; what's needed is better counter descriptions, aka. what each ship is useful for. I have plans to use the currently useless COUNTERDESC string line/slot for this purpose.

    I added in the Sentinel specifically so the Imps would have a second colonizer, and something that is cheap and purely for colonizing, as the AI really doesn't use the Gladiator well.
